INTRODUCTION

The Household Expenditure Survey (HES) was the first conducted in the year 1957/58. Beginning 1993/94 it was carried out at an interval of five years and the recent survey was undertaken in 2009/2010. The survey is covered private households in urban and rural areas.

The main objective of HES was to collect information on the level and pattern of consumption expenditure by households on a comprehensive range of goods and services. This information served as the basis for determining the goods and services to be included in the basket of the Consumer Price Index (CPI). It was also used to represent the expenditure pattern of households in Malaysia.

However, over the years, demand for data from the survey has increased and it is now used for several purposes. HES has becomes an invaluable source of information for government and private sectors, researchers and university students.

Comments :
Based on the calculation, mean of allocation of income is 416.667. For the standard deviation of allocation of income is 202.287. The answer by using normal method and coding method to find mean and standard deviation are same. My family used up most money on food as food is important in our life. My family always buys nutritious foods which are definitely quite expensive to maintain our healthy. As we are healthy, our efficiency to do work also increases. Instead, my family used up least money on others because we try to saving and decrease wasting.

REFLECTION
While I was doing this project, I have spent countless hours doing this project. I realized that this subject is compulsory to me. Without it, I cant fulfill my big dreams and wishes. I used to dislike Additional Mathematics. It always has been an absolute obstacle for me.From now on, I will do my best on every second that I will start learning Additional Mathematics full of my effort and with the help of Mr. Kor for his help throughout the whole project work. It makes me happy to learn more new things especially learning more new chapters in additional mathematics
