Lesson plan # 1

Date: May 14th, 2009 Level: 1st grade of high school

Skill: Reading “Music in our lives”

Expected Outcomes: Students will identify specific vocabulary related to music and get
information from texts.
Resources:
Whiteboard, markers, book, dictionary, pen, copybook.

Time Comments

Introduction 5 min • The teacher will start the class asking about
vocabulary the students already know and
introduce the class providing them with more
vocabulary.

Core of the class • Students will be asked to look up in the dictionary


Pre-stage as much vocabulary related to music as they can,
and make a list with the words.

25 min • Students will work with a text provided by the


teacher answering questions related to specific
information, using the vocabulary found in the
While-stage dictionaries.
For example: Do you like music? – What kinds of
music do you like?

Post-stage 10 min
• The teacher reviews the activity asking the students
to work in pairs and share the answers with their
peers and the teacher.

Closing 5 min
• The teacher will ask the students about their own
life, preferences and options using the vocabulary
learnt.

Date: May 15th, 2009 Level: 1st grade of high school

Skills Reading and writing and oral.

Expected Outcomes: Students will apply the vocabulary learnt related to games and write a short
text related to the music they like. Also, they will ask and answer questions in present simple
with a complete form.
Resources:
Whiteboard, markers, dictionary, pen, copybook.

Time Comments

Introduction 10 min • The teacher will ask students to give information


about the last class: Vocabulary learnt, structures,
etc. The teacher also introduces the new content
through questions and answers.

Core of the class 15 min • The teacher will start the class asking about what
Pre-stage students like in terms of games introducing new
vocabulary and the structure of answering
questions in present simple with complete
information.
While-stage 40 min • Students will be asked to make a list of the top ten
games of their lives and make meaningful
sentences and share them with their classmates to
review if the vocabulary and the structures are
correct (peer mentoring).
Post-stage 25 min
• The students form groups of 5 to create a
presentation about games using present simple.

10 min
• The teacher reviews the activity asking the students
to ask questions to the teacher to put into practice
Closing the “making question skill” and also asking the
teacher’s questions.
5 min
The teacher reviews what has been taught asking
the students about the structures and vocabulary
learnt.
Lesson plan # 3

Date: May 22th, 2009 Level: 1st grade of high school

Skill: Writing and oral.

Expected Outcomes: Students will provide information about others using simple present forms
and also ask for information about others.
Resources:
Whiteboard, markers, book, dictionary, pen, copybook, pictures.

Time Comments

Introduction 15 min • The teacher will start the class introducing a


random classmate to show how the verbs change
when 3rd person. For example: “Hi everyone, he is
Bastián. He likes sports and music. Etc.”

Core of the class 30 min • The teacher will provide pictures of famous people,
Pre-stage cartoon characters and videogame characters with a
little information of each one. Students will be
asked to form groups of 5, and then the teacher will
give each group a picture so they will have to
create a paragraph using the information given and
also add more.
While-stage 45 min • After the creation of the paragraphs the students
will have to present the character to the whole class
without saying the name, so the class will have to
guess who character is, asking questions and
compiling the information. For example: does she
like dancing? – Does he play tennis?
Post-stage 20 min
• The teacher checks spelling and pronunciation of
each group. Giving examples and answering
questions.

Closing
5 min • The teacher reviews the activity asking the students
to work in pairs and share the answers with their
peers and the teacher.
