Yogas
Yogas fall in two categories: Subha Yogas and Arista Yogas. Yogas include success in
every line - health, personality, success in politics, financial gains, good education,
mental strength, bodily health, good life and so on. The arisths or misfortunes include all
sorts and sources of sorrows, worries, miseries, troubles and dis-ease and so on. Some
broad categories of the yogas are the following:

Some Special Yogas:

Gajakesari: If jupiter is in a kendra ( 1/4/7/10 ) houses from the moon Gajakesari yoga
is caused. It is one of most auspicious yogas in astrology and shows a person with this
yoga will be fortunate and lucky, has a good reputation and will reach some high position
of eminence in life.

Buddha Aditya Yoga: (Nipuna Yoga) If Mercury combines with the Sun, the combination
goes under the name of Buddha-Aditya yoga. Such people are highly intelligent, skilful in
all works, good reputation,and personal respect and provided with all comforts and happi-
ness. This yoga is very common and is special because any planet in association with the
Sun becomes combust and loses its power.

Lakshmi Yogas: If the lord of the ascendant is powerful and the lord of the 9th occupies
own or exaltation sign identical with a kendra or Trikona, this yoga is caused. Such a
person will be wealthy, noble. Learned, a man of high integrity and reputation, handsome
appearance and partakes of all the pleasures and comforts in life.

Sunapha yoga: If there are planets (excepting the sun) in the second house from the moon,
sunapha yoga is caused. It indicates self-earned property, a status equivalent to that of a
king, ruler or his equal, intelligent, wealthy with good reputation.

Anapha yoga: If there are planets in the twelfth from the moon, Anapha yoga is caused.
It indicates a person who is of good appearance, generous, polite, self -respecting and
moves into spiritual life at a later stage.

Chandra Mangala yoga: If Mars conjoins the moon this yoga is formed. This yoga
produces bright results as far as the finances are concerned. The exact nature of the
effects depends on the position of the yoga as reckoned from the ascendant. It is a
powerful factor in establishing a persons financial worth.

Pancha Maha Purusha yoga: Varahamihira in Brihat Samhita has extolled five combi-
nations producing five types of great men.

Hamsa Yoga: Jupiter should occupy a kendra(1/4/7/10) which should be his own house or
exaltation sign. Handsome and good looking you will be liked by others, he will be
righteous in disposition and pure in mind. The strength of the yoga depends on the
strength of Lagna and Jupiter and in which Kendra he is disposed. It makes a person
idealistic, spiritual, broad minded and selfless.

Malavya yoga: Venus should occupy Kendra( 1/4/7/10) which should be in his own or
exaltation sign. The person will have a well-developed physique, will be strong-minded,
wealthy, happy with children and wife, will command vehicles, renowned and learned.
Venus is the indicator of conveyance, sensual pleasures, music, dancing, fine arts,
luxury and material comforts.

Sasa yoga: If Saturn occupies a kendra ( 1/4/7/10) which is its own or exaltation sign,
Sasa yoga comes into effect. One born in this yoga will be the head of a village or town
or king and will command authority and good servants. This yoga gives a person slight

ly adverse traits also like coveting others riches and being wicked in disposition ( this
depends on the position of the moon).

Ruchaka yoga: Mars should be exalted or in its own sign in a kendra (1/4/7/10). The
person born in this yoga will have a strong physique, will be famous, well versed in
ancient lore, king or equal to a king , conforming to traditions and customs. This person is
attractive, has a charitable disposition, wealthy, long-lived and leader of an army.

Bhadra yoga: Bhadra yoga is caused by the disposition of mercury in a kendra(1/4/7/10)
which should be identical with his own or exaltation sign. This yoga makes a person
strong, good looking and helpful and successful. Mercury is the planet of intellect and in
consonance with the inherent nature of mercury( sharp, intelligent and versatile).

Sri Lakshminarasimha Temple, Injeemedu








ThondaiNaadu, has alwas been a golden place endowed with natural wealth and also has a rich
heritage in arts, crafts, culture and dharma. This place has innumerable vaishnavite and shavite
temples with architecture so marvellous that it seems like the gopurams are almost touch the sky.
These temples have been pioneering the blossoming of bhakti bhaava among the people.
Kanchipuram, which is equivalent to the DivyaKshetra like kasha was the capital city of such a
kingdom. Thondainaadu is the place where Lord Brahma worshipped Srimannarayana with
AshvamedhaYaagam. This is also the place where Parvatidevi undertook penance to propitiate
kailashnathar in order to protect the 32 dharmas.

ThondaiNaadu has innumerable lotus pushkarinis and garden filled with flowers of vibrant hues and
fragrance, like Karunguvalai, Neelorpalam. It is a pleasure to watch the swans (annapakshi) playing
in these ponds and the bees buzzing around the flowers. In such a picturesque place, on the banks of
BahaNadi, the ancient name of the river Cheyyar, is situated the sacred and auspicious place called
YajnaVedhikai, i.e., the present day Injimedu. In this temple, Sri VaradarajaPerumal, along with
Sri PerundeviThaayar, is bestowing their blessing upon us. From the vedic times, this sacred place
has been the abode of countless rishis and acharyas, who have worshipped Yajnaswaroopa
shirmanNarayana with Yaagas. This punyaboomi, which always resounded with vedic mantras was

Raghu VamsaTilakam, Sri Raama who with his blemish-less moon like face can attract even his
enemies, adorns the temple along with srisita and srilakshmana and showers his blessing on all his
devotees. This moolavar shrine of Sri Raama was worshipped by Sri BharadwajaMaharshi. Also it
is learnt from scriptures that Sri Raama was worshipped here through Yaagaas from ancient times
just as Sri Ranganaatha was worshipped by the Raghuvamsa Kings.

The Sacred bow of Sri Raama here has Lord Narasimhamurthy on its upper part, which is very rare to
witness anywhere else. The name RaghavaSimha truly benefits lord Raama here. RiRaamarSannidhi
was Anjana-putra Sri Hanuman and Anjali posture and Sri Garuda on the other side of Raama. On
every MoolaNakshatra, homam and visheshatirumanjanam is being performed for Sri Hanuman. The
presence of both china tiruvadi and periyatiruvadi is the same sannidhi is again a rare delight.



Sri PerundeviThaayarSannidhi

The Mother Goddess, in her Kaarunyaroopam, who removes all the obstacles of Her devotees in
present in all Her splendour here. In this ancient injeemedutempl,e Sri PerundeviThaayar, who has a
separate Sannidhi here, is known for eliminating Grahadosha, which is causing delay in marriage or
child birth. The devotees who come here pray to Her and take oath to offer a turmeric garland on
fulfilment of their wishes. Such devotees, meditating on Sri PerundeviThaayar, keep one turmeric
each day in their pooja room and while praying to Her, and within 48days, they get their wishes
fulfilled. They make a garland out of the turmeric collected, and offer it to Thaayar. On seeing heaps
of such garlands, near the sanctum of our universal mother, our eyes are filled with tears of joy
thanking her immeasurable prowess.

Sri KalyanaLakshminarasimhar

As promised by Lord Krishna in Srimad Bhagavad Gita, the Lord takes so many incarnations to
protect the good people and to remove evil from the society. In Sri RaamaAvataram, the Lord
conducts Himself as a UdaharanaPurusha or the ideal purusha. In Krishna avatara, Sri Parandaman
through Bhagavad Gita has imparted knowledge to the masses. From the vedicitihasa and the puranic
times, MahaAcharyas have taken Avataras from this place which had been worshipped as Sri
Narasimhapuram. As a proof to this, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha here is bestowing blessings as Sri
KalyanaLakshminarasimhar, whose beauty cannot be described in words, In this Sannidhi, Sri
BhaktaPrahalada, who had belped, through his prayers to the Lord Narasimha, 32 generations of his
descendants to reach the Lords Lotus feet, is present in the sanctum, facing the Lord in Anjali
posture. Veda Purusha Sri Garuda is also present at the Thiruvadi of Perumal.



On every SwathiNakshatra da, Sri SwathiMahaHomam is being conducted in grand manner for Sri
KalyanaLakshinarasimha. One must be really fortunate to see the Lord and that day, after the
Thirumanjanam and ViseshaPooja, and His beautiful face resplendent with KotiSooryaPrakasam.

Vidhyadaanam (help in educating the poor), medical aid, goshala etc., apart from the recital of vedas,
divyaprabhandam during temple festivals. All ashikas, sishayas and philanthropists are requested to
donate to the extent possible to help, strengthen the Sabha and encourage its activites.

Kamals Horoscope and his views on Marriage


It is often said that wisdom strikes man well after the crisis is over. However, in the case of
Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, wisdom seems to have struck after many, many years. Kamal, who
has had to endure two failed marriages in his life, has now opined that he shouldnt have married at
all in the first place.
Kamal was first married to Vani Ganapathy and divorced her after a decade to marry Sarika, a
popular national award-winning Bollywood actress. Kamal and Sarika together had two children,
Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan. However, Sarika separated from Kamal years ago and has been
living with her daughters in Mumbai. Among the daughters, the multi-talented Shruti has slowly but
surely been finding her feet as an actress in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
During the course of a recent interview to a popular English daily, Kamal has said, In hindsight, it
now appears that I never had any great faith in the institution of marriage. I shouldnt have married at
all. I married Vani and Sarika mostly to suit their needs. Vani would never agree to the live-in
culture and I too wasnt ready to get her to agree to that idea.
In the case of Sarika, there wasnt proper understanding and the society wouldnt have kept quiet
had I decided to stay in a hotel with her. Though I didnt think my marriage to Sarika would last
long, we were together for 17 long years. We had been postponing our separation mainly because it
would adversely affect the growth of our daughters and were waiting till they grew up to reach
certain age.
Gauthami, however, is very different from both Vani and Sarika. Till now, she has never asked me
to marry her, concluded Kamal.

Did you marry Sarika because of the children?

I don't want to blame anyone. All I can say is that marriage is a folly that is slowly becoming
redundant. I have four vaccination marks. In our time, they were a necessary ordeal. It's different
today. I'm hopeful that one day like the vaccinations, the institution of marriage too will go away.
