DRIVING AT A YOUNG AGE INCREASES LIFE EXPERIENCES AND RESPONSIBILITY Rebuttal: not true ladies and gentleman.

We, as humans, only are able to excel and improve at something if we have the basic foundation and knowledge on that certain task. However, that's not the case with young drivers nowadays. Young drivers, especially due to their immaturity, often fail to obtain the most basic skills in driving to begin with and aren't corrected for their wrong driving techniques, hence , they continue to go on with their lives, without proper knowledge and skills on driving. When it comes to this, how are they supposed to improve and increase their experience? well yes, there are ways to educate young people n society such as through courses and tests. However, in modern days society , there seems to be a major flaw in our licensing system, which are issue such as bribery. Moreover, simply saying that driving at a young age increases experience is irrelevant. The few years a teenager would gain in driving experience before an older age isn't very significant. Few countries think 17 year olds are grown up enough to vote, drink alcohol or smoke. Yet most allow them to get behind the wheel of a car, even though it is a dangerous weapon in immature, careless or reckless hands.

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES rebuttal: moving on, my opponent's argument about reflexes is outright false. Teens may have sharper reflexes at young age, but their discretion and judgement is severely impaired as their brain has yet to finish developing. L&G, if we can't wait until their brain is fully developed, which is at age 25, then we should at least wait until they can be responsible for their own actions.

The experience will mean more to them and will come with less a sense of entitlement and a more sense of responsibility.

DRIVING AT A YOUNG AGE DEVELOPS A CHILD'S INDEPENDENCE AND RESPONSIBILITY. Rebuttal: Independence means the ability of a person to do something by ones self. Further more, it means to be responsibility for the actions and decisions that we've taken. And ladies and gentleman, there is no form of evidence what so ever that proves the fact that driving has anything to do with age and responsibility.

Society usually sees 18 as the age at which young people become adults. Shouldn't driving be one of the privileges ad responsibilities of adulthood?

Does driving develop a person's independence and responsibility? Most probably yes. However, what does age have anything to do with the development of a person's independence and responsibility ? Research and surveys has a shown that drivers at the age of 17 are the ones who take the most risks while driving such as breaking the speed limit, or breaking the red light.

Statistics from a recent survey done by the Allstate Foundation shows that the rate of fatal crashes are highest at age 17 and below, when the fatal crash rate is 40% higher than older drivers. These are all due to irresponsible behavior and habits such as speeding and being on the phone while driving. Surveys show that 56 percent of teens said they make and answer phone calls while driving, which is 40 percent higher than older drivers.

YOUNGER DRIVERS AREN'T NECESSARILY DANGEROUS WHEN COMPARED TO SENIOR DRIVERS rebut: L&G, time and time and time again, the government has mentioned on how younger drivers at age 17 or so are quite mature and how they might even be more responsible than those drivers who are more senior.

More over, the survey also found out that 17 percent of teens said that speeding is fun. Behold L&G the true horrific colours of young drivers. Are they really independent? Are they really responsible? I think not.

However, time and time and time again, you (the government), fail to realize that the odds of younger drivers being more responsible and having better or equal judgement compared to older drivers are little to zero. Furthermore, youve failed to provide any evidence that your case stands.

YOUNG DRIVERS ARE MORE CAREFUL EVERY STUDY CARRIED OUT IN THIS FIELD SHOWS THAT YOUNGER DRIVERS ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE INVOLVED IN SERIOUS ACCIDENTS - RAISING THE AGE WOULD MAKE THE ROADS A SAFER PLACE. Human life is precious and whilst driving remains one of the most dangerous things people do on a day to day basis1, we must do everything reasonable to prevent deaths.

Id also like to add that scientific research shows that true mental maturity of the average human mind is achieved at age 25. There is a major age gap between age 17 and age 25.

Raising the driving age will cut the number of accidents on the roads. In 2008 alone in the USA there were 6428 fatalities involving young drivers and passengers aged between 15 and 20. Raising the driving age by a year or more will greatly reduce these accidents and deaths.

ACCIDENTS MAY BE DELAYED JUST BY ONE YEAR AND IT REMOVES THE FREEDOM OF YOUNG PEOPLE Rebut: Surely it's worth restricting the freedom of
young people in order to preserve their lives and the lives of others even if its just for a year or so. L&G, if youre about to die tomorrow, how much would you give just for another day to watch the sun rise? We here, are trying to give you another year or two.

Moving on, taking some freedom away from teenagers only helps them become more mature and stronger later on. If you give teenagers too much freedom, it only causes them to do whatever they want to the point of disobeying rules and curfew. Which is why we are urging you to put a stop to this madness.

If you give the young teenagers too much freedom, it only causes them to do whatever they want to the point of disobeying the rules which their parents give and the government. In addition to the comment, "In fact the younger the driver the more they learn." What are they going to learn from, by having an accident from to much freedom or killing someone at a young age? This only gives more trauma to the younger people.

THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES SUCH AS MAKING TESTS MORE RIGOROUS Rebut: These alternatives have their own pros and cons and should be considered in conjunction with a change in the minimum age.The alternatives to making a test harder is still not a good way to keep the young teenagers from driving recklessly. There are many smart teenagers that can pass a test but it is different when getting behind the wheel by themselves or with other passengers. Peoples minds at a young age are very distracted with a lot of information from school, friends, and parents. In addition, young people are generally more technologically capable, and are more likely to be distracted by mobile media devices than older people. Surveys show that 56 percent of teens said they make and answer phone calls while driving, which is 40 percent higher than older drivers.

IT DENIES YOUNG PEOPLE ACCESS TO SAFE TRANSPORTATION- ESPECIALLY DURING MIDNIGHT Rebut: Parents would prefer to get out of bed and pick their teenagers up than to know they were being driven home by immature drivers, who may well have been drinking.

Also, with the ability to drive, they would be encouraged to stay out late....doing inappropriate stuff and getting in serious trouble. Futher more, if they didnt have the ability to drive a car, they wouldnt be staying up so late in the first place!

IT REMOVES THE FREEDOM OF YOUNG PEOPLE Surely it's worth restricting the freedom of young people in order to preserve their lives and the lives of others. Freedom is no good to you if you've been paralysed in a car accident or killed your best friend. I agree with this staement. If you do take some freedom from the young teenagers it only helps them to be stronger later on and more mature.

IF YOUNG DRIVERS SHOULD HAVE AN AGE LIMIT, OLDER MEN SHOULD TOO Rebut: which is why on MARCH 3, 2010: On Tuesday, the Mass State Senate passed its version of the so-called "Safe Driver" bill .

The bill, which drew a spirited debate amongst Senators from both parties, contains language that would require drivers age 75 and older to undergo a cognitive and physical abilities test in order to renew their license.

Driving at a young age reduces burden of parents. Rebut: although being independent and driving ones self to places may be convenient and with the hectic lives of teenagers, having the ability to drive ones self to places and do loads to help reduce our parents burden.

TEENAGERS ARE MATURE ENOUGH TO MAKE DECISIONS Rebut: However, according to the brain researchers in the National Institute of Health, they have discovered that the executive branch of a teenage brain, which is the part that weighs risks, makes judgements, and controls impulsive behaviour, is not fully developed until after the teen years.

However, its the natural instinct of parents to be protective of their child. With that being said, parents would gladly send and take their kids to places instead of having to worry about them being behind the wheel.

Therefore an 18-year-old or older driver would be more developed than a 17-year-old driver. Also, there are studies all over that show that 17year-olds have more car crashes than older drivers.

MALES ARE 77% MORE LIKELY THAN FEMALES TO KILL SOMEONE WHILE DRIVING. BAN MEN FROM DRIVING? Rebut: Even though banning males would lower
accidents, it would be sexist and even though women are normally the target of sexist remarks, there would still be strong resistance.
