T01 Hardware Installation Acceptance Items
T01-01 Cabinet Installation
T01-0101 Cabinet Installation
Objective Verify that the cabinet installation meets the engineering requirements. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The cabinet is installed. A level bar is kept at hand. Procedure 1. Check the position of the cabinet. Expected result The installation site meets the requirements of the engineering design. If the BTS is used to replace another, the installation site is the same as that before the replacement. The four holes in each base suite are installed with insulation washers. The cabinet is connected securely with the base suite and stands steady. The horizontal error is smaller than 3 mm, and the vertical error is not greater than 3 mm. All the screws are secured, and the spring washers are between the flat washers and the screws. There is no dust in or out of the subrack. The outer side of the cabinet is brushed, and all the labels are well attached, complete, and legible. The front door opens and closes easily.

Check the installation of the base suite.

Check the horizontal error and vertical error of the cabinet. Check all the screws, flat washers, and spring washers. Check the sanitation in and out of the cabinet.

Check whether the front door can open and close easily.

Remarks Measure the horizontal and vertical errors using a horizontal bar.

T01-0102 Antenna System Installation


Objective Verify that the antenna system installation meets the engineering requirements. Network diagram None. Prerequisites The antenna system is installed. Procedure 1. (1) (2) (3) (4) Check the feeders. Connections Grounding Arrangement Labels (3) (4) 2. (1) (2) Check the grounding bar. Grounding Insulation (2) (1) (2) Expected result (1) The feeders are properly connected to the antenna of the corresponding sector. The feeders are grounded at a minimum of four points from the tower top to the equipment room and a minimum of three points from the roof top to the equipment room. The feeders are arranged neatly. The labels are attached according to requirements. The outdoor grounding bar is introduced to the grounding network through a special path. The indoor grounding bar is connected to the outdoor grounding bar or the near ground. The grounding bar is insulated from the wall and the path of the grounding cables is as short as possible.

Check the encapsulation of the feeder window Check the antenna installation.

The feeder window is properly encapsulated. The antenna installation meets the engineering requirements. For example, the installation positions, azimuth angle, and pitch angle of antennas. (1) All the connectors of the outdoor jumpers are waterproof and encapsulated. The waterproof curves of the jumpers are made. The bending radius of the jumper is no less than 20 times the diameter. The TMA is installed near the antenna. For the connectors on both sides of the TMA, the ones connecting the antenna face up, and those connecting the feeders face down. The connectors on one side of the TMA face down. The TMA is well grounded. The cable is securely connected. The feed is normal. The lightning protection grounding card is properly grounded. The feeders are properly grounded.

T01-0103 Board Installation


Objective Verify that the installation of boards meets the engineering requirements. Network diagram None. Prerequisites The board installation is complete. The slots without boards are installed with dummy panels. Idle ports for power cables are protected with caps. Procedure 1. 2. Check whether the installation positions of the boards are correct. Check whether the screws are securely installed. Expected result The installation positions of the boards are all correct. The screws are in secure connection with the subrack.

Remarks For the installation positions of boards, see the engineering design.

T01-0104 Power Module Installation


Objective Verify that the installation of the storage batteries, PMU, and PSU complies with the engineering specifications. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The power modules are installed. The slots without boards are installed with dummy panels. Procedure 1. Check whether the installation positions of the storage batteries, PMU, and PSU are correct. Check whether the screws are securely installed. Expected result The installation positions of the storage batteries, PMU, and PSU are correct. The screws are securely installed.

T01-02 Cables and Grounding


T01-0201 Installation of Trunk Cables and Fibers
Objective Verify that the installation of trunk cables and fibers meets the engineering requirements. Network diagram None. Prerequisites The trunk cables and fibers are installed. Procedure 1. Check the layout of trunk cables. Expected result The layout meets the engineering requirements. The cables are arranged neatly for easy maintenance and future capacity expansion with no crossover and no damage on the sheath. The trunk cables are separated from the power cables. (1) (2) The connectors of the trunk cables have no damages. The bending radius of the coaxial cables is no less than 40 mm so that the core wires are not easily damaged. The cable ties point to one direction and are in a horizontal line. The ends of the cable ties are cut even. The cable ties do not overlap. The cable ties outside the cabinet are left with an extra part of 35 mm. The cables on the cabling rack are tied securely. The cables are arranged neatly with even space between cable ties.

Check the cables in the cabling trough.

The cables laid in the cabling trough need not be tied. They need be laid in and along the trough with no crossover. If needed, the cables are tied in the entrance and exits or the turning points. When the trunk cables are laid overhead or under-floor, the curves must be made at the bottom of the cabling rack with extra part. Both ends of the trunk cables and fibers are attached with engineering labels. The labels used by the BTS3012AE are made by Huawei and attached 20 mm behind the plugs. (1) (2) The plugs of the fibers are intact. The fibers are not tight at the curving points; pairs of fibers are tied neatly; the fibers out of the cabinet are coated with corrugated plastic tubes, both ends of which are tied securely; the space between the cable ties are consistent; the fibers do not bear weight.

T01-0202 Installation of Power Cables and Power Grounding Cables


Objective Verify that the power cables and PGND cables are properly made and arranged. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites None. Procedure 1. Check the specifications of the power cables and GND cables. Expected result (1) (2) (3) The PGND cables are yellow and green. The DC grounding cables are black. The 48 VDC power cables are blue. The cross sectional area of the PGND cables 2 is 25 mm . The power cables and the GND cables are made of complete segments of cables and the sheath of the cables have no damages. 2. Check whether the power cables and GND cables and their labels are intact. Check the following terminals: Terminals of the power cables Terminals of the grounding cables Wiring terminals (3) (2) The power cables and GND cables are not damaged or broken, and both ends are attached with labels. (1) The lugs at both ends of the power cables and GND cables are welded or pressed tight. The bare wire near the wiring terminals and the lugs are wrapped with insulating tapes or heat-shrink tubes. The wiring terminals are securely installed with flat washers and spring washers and with good contact.

The power cables and GND cables are separate to other cables with the extra parts cut and no coil.

T01-0203 Lightning Protection and Grounding


Objective Verify that the lightning protection and grounding are normal. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites None. Procedure 1. Check the lightning protection of the antennas and feeders. Check the grounding conditions. Expected result The grounding of the antennas, feeders, and jumpers meets the lightning protection requirements. (1) The working ground, protection ground, and lightning protection grounding share one grounding conductor. The grounding network of the tower, the equipment room, and the power distribution transformer (within 30 m from the equipment room) must form a uniform grounding network.

Remarks The principles of lightning protection are as follows: 1. Protocols and standards ITU-T K.11 (1993) Principles of Protection Against Overvoltage and Overcurrents ITU-T K.27 (1996) Bonding Configurations and Earthing Inside a Telecommunication Building ETS 300 253 (1995) Equipment Engineering; Earthing and bonding of telecommunication equipment in telecommunication centers 2. Grounding Check the protection grounding using visual observation. The results must meet the following requirements: The neutral metal components (except the screws that are insulated from the live components) are packed as a whole and then securely connected to the protection grounding terminals. The size of the screws of the protection grounding terminals must be no less than M4. The identification of protection grounding must meet international standards, for example, PE, and symbols. 3. Lightning protection The lightning protection between the conductors of the grounding terminals with different phases is normal. The lightning protection between the grounding terminals and the neutral terminals is normal.

T01-0204 CPRI, Optical Fiber and RF Cable Connection


Objective Verify RF cables are connected normal. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites None. Procedure 1. Check all internal RF cable connections Check whether the RF cables are connected correctly. Check whether the RF cables are connected firmly. 2. Check all RF cable connections from RF module (or RRU) to combiner and combiner to antenna. Check whether the RF cables are connected correctly. Check whether the RF cables are connected firmly. Expected result The RF cables are connected correctly and firmly with torque wrench.

Remarks

Objective To verify RRU fibers a not cross connected Network diagram None Prerequisites The BTS is powered on and running normally after system commissioning. Expected Result Fibers are connecting correctly; corresponding sector fiber is connected to corresponding sector RRU.

Procedure Option 1: (1) Manually power off sector 1 RRU, and then confirm LED for sector is off at BBU. (2) Repeat above step for sector 2 and 3. Option 2: (1) Request RAN engineer to Block sector 2 and sector 3 (2) Make test call on sector 1, confirm you call is on sector 1 using compass and scrambling code. (3) Repeat above step for sector 2 and 3. Remarks If onsite engineer is unable to access RRU then process with option 2. If fibers are crossed, then correct connection.

T01-03 Power-On Test


T01-0301 Power-on Check of the BBU
Objective To verify the power-on state of the BBU Network diagram None Prerequisites 1. 2. 3. 4. The BBU hardware is installed as required. The BBU cables are routed as required. Power switches on the BBU are set to OFF. The output voltage of the power distribution cabinet stays within normal range: Normal value: 48 V DC Allowed value range: from 40 V DC to 60 V DC Procedure 1. (1) (2) Power on the BBU. Turn on the external power supply for the BBU. Ensure that the external power voltage is within the allowed voltage range. Power on the BBU. Check whether the RUN indicator works well. If yes (The RUN indicator flashes with a frequency of 0.5 Hz)), the power-on check of the BBU is complete. Then power on the RFU. If no, go to the next step. (3) (4) (5) Turn off the power switch and shut down the power supply to the BBU. Clear the faults by checking the input voltage for the BBU and the power cable routing. Repeat the above steps. Expected Result The BBU is powered on and the RUN indicator works well.

T01-0302 Status Check of Boards


Objective To verify board status identified by BTS Network diagram Networking of Local Maintenance and Debugging Prerequisites The BTS is powered on and running normally after system commissioning. Expected Result after site is integrated all board show run normal

Procedure

T01-0303 Battery Discharge Test for 30 Minutes


Objective Verify that the storage batteries can be normally charged and discharged after the mains power supply for the BTS cabinet is switched on. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The built-in storage batteries are well installed. The mains power supply for the BTS is working normally. The BTS is working normally. Procedure 1. 2. 3. Measure battery current with multi-meter. Switch off BTS cabinet AC power and wait 30 minutes. Switch on BTS cabinet AC power then measure battery current with multi-meter. Expected result 48V - 60V. Indicating that the battery is being discharging. Indicating that the battery is being charged.

Remarks None.

T01-04 Output Power of the RF Module


T01-0401 MRFU/MRRU
Objective The test purpose is to verify the accuracy of the maximum output power across the frequency range in the RFU or RRU. Network diagram Standard networking of acceptance and debugging. Prerequisites 1. 2. 3. 4. The GSM system is set up according to the specified networking diagram without transmitting diversity. Test environment: normal. All the GSM system work properly. GSM is controlled by LMT. Expected Result The standard output power is 20W (-43dBm), the acceptable result is more than 15W (-41.76dBm)

T01-05 Standing Wave Ratio


T01-0501 VSWR Sector 1-3
Objective Verify that the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of the antenna system complies with the requirements. Network diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS operates normally. The site master/standing wave ratio (SWR) meter is kept at hand. Procedure 1. Switch off the DTRU/RRU power of the tested cell. Disconnect the connection between the tested feeder and the BTS. Connect the feeder port with the SWR meter. Read the VSWR in the meter and record the test result in the Acceptance Item Selection Table. Test the VSWR of the antenna system with the method introduced in steps 1 and 2. Recover the connection after the test. Expected result (1) (2) The feeder connects well with the meter and the standing wave ratio is measurable. The standing wave ratio of the antenna system is not more than 1.5. The test result is the same with that of step 2.

T02 Environment Alarm Items


T02-01 Environmental Alarms
T02-0101 Door Status Alarm
Objective Verify that the door status alarm is normally reported and cleared. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS is working normally. The communications between the BSC and the BTS are normal. The back door of the cabinet is closed. Procedure Press and hold door status switch on the front door for a 5+ seconds. Release the door status switch. Remarks None. Expected result No Door Status Alarm is reported from the BTS. The BTS reports a Door Status Alarm.

T02-0102 Battery Temperature Alarm


Objective Verify that the battery temperature alarm is normally reported and cleared. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS is working normally. The communications between the BSC and the BTS are normal. The back door of the cabinet is closed. Procedure Monitor the Battery temperature alarm on the BTS under normal operating conditions Use a heat source and increase the temperature detected by the battery temperature sensor until a alarm is triggered, being careful not to overheat the sensor. Remarks None. Expected result No Battery Temperature Alarm is reported from the BTS. Battery Temperature Alarm is triggered and reported.

T03 Service Items


T03-01 Basic Services
T03-0101 Switching On an MS
Objective Verify that an MS can be switched on and registered normally. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS operates normally. An MS is available for a test. The SIM card in the MS is valid. Procedure Switch on the MS. Remarks None. Expected result The MS is registered in the network.

T03-02 Voice Call


T03-0201 Test Calls 2Degrees Network
Objective Verify that the system can perform calls on each sector. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS operates normally. Test MS. The SIM cards in the test MS are valid and the MSs have logged in to the network. Procedure Use the MS to make test calls on sector1 to another NZCL MS. Repeat procedure for sector 2 and sector 3. Remarks To make test calls on all sectors to another MS on the same Network. Expected result The call is normal on each sectors and the speech quality is good.

T03-0202 Test Calls Telecom Network


Objective Verify that the system can perform calls on each sector. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS operates normally. Two MS are available for a test. The SIM cards in the test MS are valid and the MS have logged in to the network. Procedure Use MS to make test calls on sector 1 to Vodafone/Telecom MS. Repeat procedure for sector 2 and sector 3. Remarks To make test calls on all sectors to another MS on a different network (Vodafone, Telecom) Expected result The call is normal on each sector and the speech quality is good.

T03-0203 Test Calls Vodafone Network


Objective Verify that the system can perform calls on each sector. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS operates normally. Two MS are available for a test. The SIM cards in the test MS are valid and the MS have logged in to the network. Procedure Use MS to make test calls on sector 1 to Vodafone/Telecom MS. Repeat procedure for sector 2 and sector 3. Remarks To make test calls on all sectors to another MS on a different network (Vodafone, Telecom) Expected result The call is normal on each sector and the speech quality is good.

T03-0204 Test Calls Fixed Network


Objective Verify that the system can perform calls on each sector. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS operates normally. Test MS. The SIM cards in the test MS are valid and the MS have logged in to the network. Procedure Use MS to make test calls to a fixed network phone on sector 1. Repeat procedure for sector 2 and sector 3. Remarks To make test calls on all sectors to a fixed network phone. Expected result The calls are normal on each sector and the speech quality is good.

T03-0205 Test Calls - Emergency


Objective Verify that the system can perform calls on each sector. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS operates normally. MS are available for a test. The SIM card in the test MS are valid and the MS have logged in to the network. Procedure 1. Use the MS to make test calls to 111 on sector1. the tester should ask the operator to confirm that they can see the call is coming in with the correct general location information e.g. something like Im calling from 2degrees mobile in Rotorua, is that the location you see my call coming from? Expected result The call is normal on each sector and the speech quality is good.

Repeat procedure for sector 2 and sector 3. 2.

T03-03 SMS
T03-0301 Short Message Service
Objective Verify that the BTS system supports Short Message Service. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS is working normally. Test MS. Procedure Use the test MS lock onto sector1 and send an SMS to another MS. Test MS lock onto sector 1 and receive SMS from another MS. Repeat procedure for sector 2 and sector 3. Remarks None. Expected result SMS successfully sent and received.

T03-04 PS Call
T03-0401 PS Data Services
Objective Verify that the BTS system supports basic data services. Networking diagram None. Prerequisites The BTS is working normally. The test MS/datacard supports the GPRS/EDGE service. The PCU data configuration is complete. The SIM card in the test MS is valid and supports data services. The data service settings for the test MS are correct. Procedure Use the test MS to log in to a specified website on sector 1 and perform and downlink and uplink speed test. Repeat procedure for sector 2 and sector 3. Remarks None. Expected result The MS can log in to the website and browse web pages. Upload: 100kbps and above Download: 200kbps and above

T03-05 Handover Call


T03-0501 Handover Test Call
Objective Verify that the system can perform a handover. Network diagram None. Prerequisites The system is configured with multiple BTSs. The multi-BTS system is working normally. An MS is available for a test. The SIM inserted in the testing MS is valid and the MS has accessed the network. Procedure 1. Use the testing MS to initiate a call on a certain frequency in a cell of this site. Then hand over the call to a neighboring cell of this site. Hand over the call back to the previous cell and keep calling. Repeat steps 1 to 2 in some other cells. The same as steps 1 and 2. Expected result The handover is successful and the conversation is not interrupted.

Remarks The tests should cover handoffs between cells in the same site and different sites
