EXT. APARTMENT COMPLEX - NIGHT Neat rows of upscale condos look peaceful in the muggy Florida night. The air, thick with moisture, crushes the sodium-yellow street lights into a golden haze. INT. CONDO, LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS The clean, generic sitting area of a pre-furnished, corporate apartment. A GIRL (25), shy, sweet and wearing pajamas, eats a pint of ice cream and shops online. Right now shes looking at a pair of skis on eBay. She barely pays attention to the TV in the background. NEWSCASTER (ON TV) ...police suspect wild panthers are the cause of this evenings brutal killing. Her cell phone BUZZES on the coffee table. the screen, then reaches to answer. GIRL Hey, hold on. She mutes the TV. VOICE (ON PHONE) Are you coming out?! NOISE from a party threatens to overwhelm the woman on the other end. GIRL Dont think so. Ben and Jerry. Who?! Im hanging with She glances at

VOICE (ON PHONE) (to someone at the party) What? Shots?! Okay! (to girl) I gotta go! Good night! Good ni-GIRL GIRL Sorry. Shes number one again. VOICE (ON PHONE) Be responsible!

The CLICK of the other line cuts her off. Rolling her eyes, she unmutes the TV, still watching the computer. NEWSCASTER (ON TV) (continuing) ...with residents reporting missing pets and strange sounds. Police commissioner Mark Ratcliffe... The auction clock counts down. 3... 2... NEWSCASTER (CONTD) ...is advising all Brevard County residents to refrain from walking alone after sunset... BLING! She gets outbid at the last second. Damn it. GIRL

Disappointed, she tosses her computer aside.

3. Behind her, motion-sensing lights illuminate a small backyard. She turns, then gets up and heads to the sliding glass door to investigate. EXT. BACKYARD - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS She walks onto the porch. Inside, the news rambles on.

NEWSCASTER (fades) Authorities urge anyone with information to call... She takes a few tentative steps into the yard. A dark blur whips past in her peripheral. but doesnt see anything. Hello? GIRL Far away, a dog BARKS. She She turns fast,

She yelps, dropping her

Behind her a shadowy shape rises. The glow from the phone reveals two large yellow eyes, burning hot in the night. The girl turns, and the motion light comes back on. EXT. APARTMENT COMPLEX - CONTINUOUS The condos look just as peaceful as before. There is a snarl, a scream, and a fierce HOWL. looms an ominous FULL MOON. NEWSCASTER (O.S., PRELAP) In happier news, the Orion rocket launches tomorrow, carrying a crew of six astronauts toward the lunar surface. High above

4. NEWS BROADCAST We join the continuing broadcast. The full moon now hangs over the anchors shoulder, part of a news graphic. NEWSCASTER Our own Karen Ralston-Brown has the story. Karen. EXT. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER - NIGHT KAREN, the local field reporter, stands in front of the gates to the NASA base. KAREN Thank you, Dan. Im here at the Kennedy Space Center, where preparations are well under way for the first manned moon mission in over 50 years. Tomorrow all eyes will be on Captain Heather Young, who is charged with establishing the recently completed lunar base as a launch post for future missions to Mars. INT. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER HALLWAY - EARLIER CAPTAIN Heather YOUNG (38) -- tough as flint, if flint were actually titanium -- talks to the reporters disembodied microphone. Shes not excited about it. SUPER: Captain Heather Young, Orion Mission CAPTAIN YOUNG Well, were working hard. Well be stationed there for six months as a skeleton crew. B-ROLL: Captain Young directs other members of the crew through training exercises. They work like a well-oiled machine. CAPTAIN YOUNG (V.O.) Our job is basically to get the station up and running. Obviously this mission is the first of its kind, so its a responsibility that Im grateful for, and not one that I take lightly.

5. EXT. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER - CONTINUOUS KAREN Partial funding for the base was controversially provided by Tramway Galactic Industries. The international conglomerate agreed to lease part of the station in exchange for mining rights to the moons helium-3 deposits. INT. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER GYM - EARLIER Treadmills, stationary bikes, and weight machines line the space-age fitness center. Kira SUMMERS (30), confident and charismatic, talks to the camera. SUPER: Kira Summers, Tramway Galactic Corporate Liaison SUMMERS Tramway Galactics goals are the same as anyones: to make the world a better place. And that starts with clean, efficient energy. In the background, a muscular GYM RAT wanders behind Summers and starts doing pull-ups -- very obviously for the camera. SUMMERS (CONTD) Actually, within a decade we expect enough advances in energy production to make private space travel a reality. Soon you might not even need NASA to get to the moon. Summers smiles. BOOP. The frame freezes and a DVR menu pops up along the bottom of the screen. There! COOPER (O.S., PRELAP)

INT. THE TACKIEST BAR EVER - COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA - NIGHT Chris COOPER (29), an All-American Ken doll and the gym rat from the news, is sandwiched between CARLY and TIFF, two coeds. Cooper points to the TV above the bar. Summers stares with a frozen smile, and Coopers biceps bulge mid-pull-up.

6. CARLY That doesnt prove anything. You could be a janitor. COOPER What? Oh, come on... Ask me anything. CARLY Okay. How big is it? COOPER Depends what youre talking about. TIFF How long will it take? COOPER Depends how much Ive had to drink. Carly pushes Cooper playfully. CARLY Youre so full of it. COOPER Okay, okay. You want facts? The moon is 384,400 kilometers from Cocoa Beach -- or anywhere on Earth, really. The ship maxes out at about 28,000 kilometers an hour, but well average less than that. So about twenty two hours from launch to land, give or take. TIFF Is it dangerous? COOPER Incredibly. He leans close. COOPER (CONTD) I might not make it back. He casually puts his arms around their shoulders. COOPER (CONTD) You know, some people consider the pilot even more important than the captain. A voice interrupts.

7. CAPTAIN YOUNG (O.S.)

Like who?

Cooper winces as Captain Young walks up. COOPER My parents? Young yanks Cooper out of his slut-wich. CAPTAIN YOUNG Plenty of time to lie to locals when we get back, Cooper. COOPER But I want to lie now. Young drags Cooper away. goes. Cooper whispers to the girls as he

COOPER (CONTD) Ill be back. Just keep thinking about how impressive I am. Astronaut... Young leads Cooper to: CORNER TABLE: At an isolated table, Markus COSMO Simson (28), an enthusiastic Russian with a big grin and a bigger mouth, argues with Tom PHILLIPS (35), a gentle giant from the Bronx. COSMO (in Russian accent) ...But why? PHILLIPS Why did Apollo 14 bring golf clubs? COSMO Is not regulation. PHILLIPS It doesnt have to be regulation, thats why they call it a personal item, Cosmo. COSMO Hm. But a baseball bat? Are you going to hit home run? What is the use?

8. PHILLIPS Its the American pastime. Summers joins the table, and passes each of the men a glass of beer. COSMO Summers, help me out. She shrugs. SUMMERS Its the American pastime. Bozhe moi. COSMO

PHILLIPS Id never live it down if I left it behind... Everyone in my old hood signed it. (beaming) Kind of a hero back home. Cooper and Young pull up chairs. COSMO Not fair! I have no shit to give you for that. SUMMERS Dont sell yourself short, Cosmo. Youre full of shit. Laughter. Cosmo leans in close to Cooper. COSMO Fifty bucks says you cant seal the deal. Cooper appraises the girls back at the bar. COOPER Youre on... U.S.A., U.S.A. CAPTAIN YOUNG Listen up, people. SUMMERS (to Phillips) Another meeting? I thought we were celebrating. Captain Young ignores her.

9. CAPTAIN YOUNG I dont have to tell you tomorrows a big day. There are going to be a lot of cameras and a lot of important people, so Id rather not have a hung over crew. Cooper slowly puts down the beer hes been chugging. Beat. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) That said, I think this is an occasion for a toast. She raises her glass. The others join.

COSMO WERE GOING TO THE MOON! A big cheer... INT. LAUNCH PAD - DAY The crew is lined up in their flight suits. Captain Young marches down the line, looking them over. A dejected Cooper passes Cosmo some cash. Young stops when she gets to Summers. CAPTAIN YOUNG Wheres Eve? SUMMERS I checked in on her, but she wasnt home. I figured she was on her way here. CAPTAIN YOUNG You figured wrong. SUMMERS I didnt know it was my job to keep track of your crew. A door opens and EVE VICE scrambles in -- the girl from the first scene. Sorry. EVE Sorry. So sorry.

Captain Youngs gaze hangs on Summers for a beat.

10. CAPTAIN YOUNG I expect better from

Miss Vice. you. I know.

EVE Im really sorry.

CAPTAIN YOUNG Are you fit to fly? EVE (salute) Yes, Ma'am. Eve joins the line next to Summers. SUMMERS (whispered) What happened? EVE I dont know. Pre-flight meds must have knocked me out, I guess. Captain Young paces down the line. CAPTAIN YOUNG Im not one for speeches, but something is expected of me. (beat) I handpicked all of you. Captain Young stops at Summers. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) Most of you. She continues. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) This wont be easy, but we have the opportunity to be pioneers. Dont fuck it up. Everyone waits for more. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) Dont fuck it up. Shes done. COSMO (to Phillips) Inspirational stuff.

11. CAPTAIN YOUNG

Lets go.

The crew lines up behind two sliding doors. They look good. The doors open and the crew is blanketed in bright camera flashes. FADE TO: INT. MISSION CONTROL - MORNING Tim FAIRFIELD (41), a classic space geek -- ponytail, mustache, glasses (you know, geek stuff) -- sits at a control console, and speaks into his headset. FAIRFIELD Cooling systems look good. All of mission control seems to have been condensed into this room and is managed by this man. STEVENS (O.S.) Because fuck you, thats why. Damian STEVENS (35), schlubby and overweight, shuffles in. Fairfield turns. Um... FAIRFIELD

He turns his head to reveal a bluetooth earpiece. STEVENS (into earpiece) I paid for that grill. even use it! Fairfield sighs.

You dont

Stevens continues vehemently. STEVENS You earned it? What do you mean you earned it?

FAIRFIELD (into mic) Orion, this is mission control. Awaiting confirmation.

STEVENS (CONTD) Listen, I gotta go. Im at work. Yep, fuck you, too. Stevens hangs up. He takes a moment.

12. STEVENS (CONTD) Sorry. Ex-wife stuff. You understand. They ready? INT. ORION SHUTTLE - MORNING The crew is strapped into their respective seats. FAIRFIELD (THROUGH SPEAKER) Orion, do you read me? CAPTAIN YOUNG Loud and clear, Fairfield. Initiating systems check. Lets get verbal confirmation. Eve? EVE Bio-systems are stable. a go. Simson? CAPTAIN YOUNG Medical is

COSMO Engines are operational. Listen to that volchitsa purr. Engineering is a go. Cooper? CAPTAIN YOUNG

COOPER Flight systems are-- oh, hold on. Cooper pulls out a ratty DASH-BOARD HULA GIRL and slams it on the controls. He taps it and she dances happily. COOPER (CONTD) Navigation is a go. He winks at Young. She rolls her eyes.

CAPTAIN YOUNG Mission control, this is Captain Heather Young, identification code zero-alpha-two-two-foxtrot-gamma. All systems are go. FAIRFIELD (THROUGH SPEAKER) Confirmed. Youre clear for launch. T-minus one minute to liftoff.

13. EXT. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER - CONTINUOUS Vapor rises from the shuttles icy fuel tanks. The sun shines off the ships big, bold lettering: S.S. ORION. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The crew sits silently. Cooper checks gauges on his dashboard as the shuttle warms up. EXT. CROWD - CONTINUOUS Onlookers watch from far off -- many with binoculars, some with large cameras. FAIRFIELD (THROUGH LOUD SPEAKER) Launch in ten, nine, eight... A buzz surges through the crowd. CHEERS start to rise.

FAIRFIELD/CROWD Seven, six, five... INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS Fairfield is crouched over a mic, counting along with a timer on his computer screen. Stevens watches a monitor showing the launch pad. FAIRFIELD Four, three... INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The crew listens. They cant help but feel excited. cabin starts to shake, the hula girl sways. FAIRFIELD (THROUGH SPEAKER) Two... one. CAPTAIN YOUNG Here we go. SUMMERS (to self) Here we go. As the

14. EXT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The rockets ignite in a flurry of fire and smoke. shuttle lifts off the ground. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The crew bounces as they are propelled upwards. INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS Fairfield and Stevens watch for a moment as the shuttle continues to rise. FAIRFIELD And we are successfully launched. EXT. ORION SHUTTLE, STRATOSPHERE - CONTINUOUS The shuttle, now much smaller, engages its liquid-hydrogen thrusters. Barely visible blue/white flames propel it into the void, and it disappears from view. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - LATER Cooper flips a switch and a light comes on: AUTO PILOT ENGAGED. He turns back to Young. COOPER Course is set. Young unbuckles and floats up from her seat. The others start to do the same. CAPTAIN YOUNG Great. You know protocol, people. Proceed to-As Young makes her way back, she passes Eve, whos noticeably paler than earlier. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) You alright? EVE Yeah, I think so. The other crew members pass behind Captain Young on their way to the common room at the back of the craft. Slowly the

15. The shuttle makes a slight turn, and the moon passes outside Eves passenger window. She squints. EVE (CONTD) Just a little queasy. Young brusquely places a hand on Eves forehead. CAPTAIN YOUNG Youre feverish. I want you to lie down in the medical area. Lets kick this bug ASAP. EVE Yes, maam. Young releases Eves belt and heads to the back room. blinks, trying to focus. INT. ORION SHUTTLE, COMMON ROOM - HOURS LATER The crew is sardined into a windowless room. Theyve clearly been here a while. Cosmo helps Phillips place seedling plants into holding containers. Captain Young works on a tablet, double checking procedures. Summers sits next to Eves makeshift bed at the very back of the craft. Cooper yells back from the cockpit. COOPER (O.S.) Threshold pass in five minutes. Suit up! CAPTAIN YOUNG Eve tries to get up, but Summers Eve

The crew moves in unison. stops her.

SUMMERS Ill bring your suit back here. EVE (weakly) Thanks. Cosmo takes out a SURFACE SUIT. Inside his locker, the neck of a vodka bottle slips out of a wrapped up T-shirt -- his personal item. Next door, Phillipss baseball bat barely fits into the tiny compartment.

16. SUMMERS Ill make the call. Summers floats over to a corded phone, but Captain Young grabs it first. CAPTAIN YOUNG Its not your call to make. Captain Young presses the only button on the phone. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) This is Young. Five minutes to radio blackout. FAIRFIELD (THROUGH SPEAKER) Sounds good, Orion. She hangs up the phone and turns to Summers. CAPTAIN YOUNG Follow regulations. Next time, I wont be nice. Young leaves. SUMMERS That was nice? EXT. ORION SHUTTLE The tiny ship is made smaller by what looms in front of it... the MOON, full and gigantic. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - LATER Cooper sits at the control board. Nothing but screens and blinking lights. He goes through the motions, chewing gum. COOPER (monotonous) Space shuttle Orion, beginning descent into radio blackout. FAIRFIELD (THROUGH SPEAKER) Copy that Orion. Safe landing. COOPER You got it. Cooper turns the radio off. at the rest of the crew. He pops a bubble, and looks back

17. COOPER (CONTD) (calling back) Hey guys, come see this. He flips a few switches, and: EXT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS Titanium blinds begin to peel back from the shuttles exterior. They reveal the cockpit. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS Phillips floats up to the control bay just as the blinds finish retracting. Wow. PHILLIPS

Soon Captain Young, Summers, and Cosmo join. The moon hovers so close they can make out its peaks and valleys. Its beautiful. Even Captain Young allows a brief smile. SUMMERS Eve, you gotta come see this. Negative. CAPTAIN YOUNG Stay put, Eve.

PHILLIPS Come on, Cap. This is once in a lifetime. ...fine. CAPTAIN YOUNG

COOPER Better hurry. INT. ORION SHUTTLE, LOCKER AREA - CONTINUOUS Eve zips up her surface-suit and heads toward the crew wearing a greedy smile. COOPER (O.S.) One minute to landing sequence. Coming! EVE

18. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS Eve floats up. EVE I wanna se-As the moonlight splashes across her face, Eve doubles over in pain. COOPER Whats going on? Eve gasps, then lets out a terrible cough, sending droplets of blood floating through the cabin. The panicked crew scrambles to help. Eve begins to convulse.

EXT. SURFACE OF THE MOON - MOMENTS LATER This close, the moon is imposing. looking almost supernatural. Its surface glows eerily,

The Orion flies over, fast and low. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS Lunar terrain blurs past. Eve writhes as Summers, Phillips and Cosmo strap her into her seat. Captain Young hovers over Coopers shoulder. The bright green AUTO PILOT ENGAGED icon glows from the dash. How long? CAPTAIN YOUNG

COOPER (flustered) Fifteen, twenty minutes. The computers sweeping for atmospheric abnormalities. Green/black veins creep up Eves neck. COSMO What is that? What is that? SUMMERS We have to tranq her. She MOANS.

19. PHILLIPS I already gave her enough to put down a horse. COOPER I could bypass the auto-pilot, but... Cooper seems hesitant. Another MOAN. Captain Young is torn.

Louder, this time.

SUMMERS (yelling to front) Shes getting worse. CAPTAIN YOUNG You can land manually? COOPER (hesitant) Theoretically. Captain Young looks behind her. agonized SCREAM. Young nods. CAPTAIN YOUNG (calling out) Strap in, people. (to Cooper) Do it. She swings to her seat, and straps herself in. the small hula doll on the head for luck. COOPER Come on, girl. Dont let me down. SUMMERS Captain, Im no expert-CAPTAIN YOUNG Then shut up. You can do this, Cooper. Roger. COOPER Cooper pats Eve lets out a desperate,

Cooper types a command into his control panel, and the autopilot icon turns RED.

20. Phillips and Summers prepare Eve for landing. Her eyes seem to yellow and bulge as she pulls against the seat belt. Phillips reluctantly gives her another tranquilizer shot before strapping himself in. Alright... COOPER (CONTD)

Cooper takes one last look at the rest of the crew. COOPER (CONTD) This might get bumpy. EXT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The shuttle passes into the dark side of the moon, a white dot against the black void. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS Eve finally passes out. EXT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS As the ship gets closer to the surface, reverse thrusters fire to slow it down. Seconds later an array of secondary thrusters erupt, all trying to keep the ship level. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The crew rocks in their seats. COOPER Engaging secondary reverse thrusters. The cabin lurches, and everyone is thrown into their safety harnesses. A warning signal begins to BEEP. Oops. Oops? oops! COOPER (CONTD) COSMO What is oops?

I do not like

YOUNG Whats going on Cooper?

21. COOPER Our angular velocity-- we were supposed to come in from the south-Shit. Fuck. Oops. Cooper punches commands into the control panel. COOPER (CONTD) (to self) You got this. EXT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The ship makes a sharp turn and front jets fire, momentarily stabilizing the capsule, but it flies dangerously low. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS Cooper pulls up hard on the controls. backwards into their seats. EXT. LUNAR SURFACE - CONTINUOUS The ship grazes a small rise, sending a shudder through the cabin. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS Metal SCRAPES. The crew prepares for what seems like imminent death. Easy now. COOPER The crew is thrown

The hula girl dances violently. EXT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The main engines shut down. auxiliary thrusters, now. The entire ship works off

As they clear another small hill, we see the base ahead. Its off in the distance, but coming in fast. Too fast.

22. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS PHILLIPS Were, uh, coming in pretty hot, Chris. Brace! COOPER

He punches a lever forward, and again the crew lurches. EXT. LUNAR STATION - CONTINUOUS The Orion flies toward the landing pad, front thrusters at 100%. At the last second, it starts to slow. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The hull shakes like its on a mechanical bull during an earthquake, but its over in an instant. Theyre stopped. EXT. FAR ABOVE THE LUNAR STATION - CONTINUOUS The Orion sits on a small landing pad, dust settling around it. A mechanized walkway extends toward the ship from the AIRLOCK that connects the landing pad with the rest of the LUNAR STATION: a huge GREENHOUSE wreathed by seven buildings, interconnected to form a circular complex. Simultaneously, mechanical arms secure the ship in place, and a dome closes overhead. Everything works smoothly, perfectly. INT. ORION SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS The crew sit in silence for a few heartbeats as the ship settles. Then a comforting CHIME indicates the airlock has secured. YES! COOPER Fuck you, moon!

They all unbuckle as the door to their new home opens.

23. CAPTAIN YOUNG Phillips, get Eve to med-bay. work, Cooper. Cosmo kisses Cooper on the head. COSMO Best pilot I know. Phillips takes Eve into his arms. carries her into: INT. LUNAR STATION, AIRLOCK A holding cell for surface runs. OXYGEN PACKS line one wall. Two MOON ROVERS are parked next to a MECHANIZED MINING WALKER -- the kind of thing Sigourney Weaver might look at home in. The crew scrambles in from the hallway, Eve cradled in Phillipss arms. The door to the ship closes, and the hallway retracts. Captain Young types at a control panel next to a thick metal door with a small round window. Cmon. CAPTAIN YOUNG The others follow as he

Nice

The room begins to pressurize. The crew waits. Agony. closer to death. Then: CHIME. The metal door unlocks with a strong, rewarding CLICK. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY The base is clean, slick, and white. There are wall-mounted monitors that read Welcome, and Congratulations in fun fonts. Pleasant MUZAK plays over the P.A. system. SPACE STATION VOICE (V.O.) NASA and Tramway Galactic welcome you to the lunar station. We hope you had a pleasant flight. Please proceed to your dormitories. Each second seems to bring Eve

24. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY - MOMENTS LATER The crew frantically rushes down the hallway. Eve is soaked with sweat. She coughs up a glob of dark red blood, tinged with black. PHILLIPS Its going to be alright, Eve. INT. LUNAR STATION, MED-BAY - CONTINUOUS A windowless room with dozens of unmarked lockers and drawers, glass cases full of medical supplies, even surgical equipment. Anything you would need for an extended stay. The door slides open, and Phillips and Summers rush in, hoisting Eve onto one of the two medical beds. The others follow close behind. Eve is limp, and her color has started to fade. her ear to Eves chest. SUMMERS Shes not breathing. CAPTAIN YOUNG Get an adrenalin shot. Cosmo and Phillips rifle through the drawers. Where is it? COSMO PHILLIPS Nothings labeled. Eves the one who knows where everything is. Summers puts

They search.

Bandages, heart monitor, sutures... adrenalin. COSMO

Got it.

Cosmo grabs a BIG SYRINGE out of the drawer, and hands it to Captain Young. CAPTAIN YOUNG Strap her down. Cooper and Summers bind Eve to the bed. the needle into Eves chest. Beat. Eve bursts to life, screaming and convulsing. Cooper in the face, knocking him down. She hits Captain Young heaves

25. Captain Young, Phillips, and Cosmo struggle to keep her in bed while the adrenalin flows through her. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) I told you to strap her down. Eve passes out. again. I did. After a moment she is calm and breathing SUMMERS

The straps from the bed hang loosely off Eves arms. INT. LUNAR STATION, MESS HALL - LATER Everyone but Eve and Summers sit around a circular table. Cooper sports a nasty shiner where Eve hit him. They each pick at a bowl of something resembling slimy green oatmeal. COSMO What is this goop? PHILLIPS Quinoa infused with an algae compound. Tons of protein and vitamins. Cosmo lets it slide off his spoon into the bowl. wet, gooey clumps. Hes disgusted. COOPER Didnt NASA build a whole greenhouse up here to grow real food? PHILLIPS Ive got to run some tests to make sure its safe for consumption. Until then... quinoa. Cosmo stands up. COSMO What happened to ice cream sandwiches and tang? PHILLIPS You going to finish? Cosmo slides his bowl to Phillips, and fiddles with a small keyboard on the table top. It falls in

26. A 3-D rendering of the base pops up on a holographic display in the center of the table. Cosmo manipulates the map, zooming in and out. Three nearby CRATERS are highlighted in red. A door opens. Summers enters and slumps into a chair, glancing at her food. CAPTAIN YOUNG How is she? SUMMERS Same. She seems stable enough, but shes not waking up-- What is this goop? COSMO Algae. Delicious, delicious algae. Summers stirs a bowl of the swamp water around with a spoon. She pushes it away. PHILLIPS You people are crazy. Phillips reaches across the table and takes Summerss bowl, too. Summers watches the holo-display. SUMMERS Im going to make a surface run. Survey those craters. Cosmo, are the rovers ready? Da. COSMO They should be. SUMMERS Lets plan on--

Great.

CAPTAIN YOUNG No surface runs. Youre monitoring Eve. SUMMERS All due respect, but-PHILLIPS Im going to check out the bunks. Anybody want to see the bunks? COSMO (eager) Bunks, you say?

27. COOPER I want to watch this.

Nah.

Both Captain Young and Summers stare daggers into him. COOPER (CONTD) On second thought, I love bunks. The three men exit. A moment of tense silence. Summers focuses her attention on the display, zooming in on a crater. Finally: CAPTAIN YOUNG I dont like you, Summers. Ouch. SUMMERS

CAPTAIN YOUNG Youve got a problem following orders. SUMMERS I have a problem following your orders. Ive got my own. You know that. Tramway Galactic is paying me to look for helium-3 deposits, not to get into pissing contests with you. Young gestures at the display. CAPTAIN YOUNG Anything thats been in that crater for four and a half billion years will still be there tomorrow. SUMMERS Im going today. The women inch toward each other. And Eve? CAPTAIN YOUNG

SUMMERS Our medic is down. Beyond her, we all have the same first aid training. Dont pretend this is about her. CAPTAIN YOUNG Watch your tone.

28. SUMMERS If youre so concerned, you look after her. Captain. Theyre almost nose to nose, fire in their eyes. TONE interrupts them. Shit. CAPTAIN YOUNG Mission control. Suddenly, a

INT. MISSION CONTROL - NIGHT A wall of blacked out monitors -- one huge central screen, surrounded by a dozen smaller ones. Fairfield and Stevens wait as the same TONE rings on their end. STEVENS Where are they? Theyre-(checks watch) Fifteen minutes late for first contact. Theyre supposed to call us. FAIRFIELD The system shows they docked fine, and were picking up six heat signatures in the base. You sound like a worried mother. STEVENS A worried mother with a two hundred billion dollar kid who won't call home. (yelling at screen) Pick up. The tone dies, and Youngs voice comes through the speaker. CAPTAIN YOUNG (THROUGH SPEAKER) This is Captain Heather Young. Identification code zero-alpha-twotwo-foxtrot-gamma. STEVENS (to Fairfield) Get the cameras on. Fairfield holds out a hand. Chill.

29. FAIRFIELD Captain Young, we sure would love to have something to look at down here, but we need you to activate the cameras. TYPING comes through the speakers. One by one, the black screens come to life. Each offers a voyeuristic view into the base: mess hall, gym, greenhouse, med-bay, dorms, a series of hallways. The control room is on the big screen, showing Young framed by the rest of the team. FAIRFIELD (CONTD) Let there be light. STEVENS Wait, whos that? There, in the medical bay? Fairfield pulls the med-bay onto the center screen. INT. LUNAR STATION, CONTROL ROOM - CONTINUOUS The crew watches the video feed of Fairfield and Stevens. FAIRFIELD (ON SCREEN) Why is Eve in the medic station? CAPTAIN YOUNG She had a nasty reaction to some turbulence en route. Shes stable now. FAIRFIELD (ON SCREEN) Okay... Put a bio-bracelet on her, so we can monitor her down here. CAPTAIN YOUNG Copy. Ive also instructed Summers to keep watch over her. STEVENS (ON SCREEN) Thats a big negatory, Captain. Tramway isnt paying for a babysitter. The sooner we get something to show for this mission, the sooner our stockholders get off my ass. Summers, get out there and bring me back the goddamned key to cold fusion.

30. Young glances sideways at Summers, who raises her eyebrows with a told-ya-so look. EXT. LUNAR STATION - LATER Bright sunlight hits the cold black base. Titanium shutters, like those on the shuttle, slide down over the outposts windows. INT. LUNAR STATION, VARIOUS - CONTINUOUS We see the shutters coming down in various parts of the base: MESS HALL; huge bay windows shut while Cosmo plays with the holo-display. MAIN HALLWAY; small windows line both sides as Cooper walks through. STORAGE UNIT; a port window closes as Phillips catalogs supplies. SPACE STATION VOICE (V.O.) (polite) Alert: base shutters closing for temperature maintenance and energy conservation. Eve sleeps in the windowless med-bay, a SILVER BIO-BRACELET on her wrist. The bracelets green status light pulses with her heartbeat. A curl of smoke rises from the skin beneath the silver. INT. LUNAR STATION, CAPTAIN YOUNGS DORM - CONTINUOUS A shutter lowers on the tiny porthole of Captain Youngs small, simple room: a closet, desk, bed. All she needs. Captain Young works on her personal computer. It has two screens: on one monitor is Summerss personal data, on the other is information about Tramway Galactic Industries. Captain Youngs eyes glide over the information. Blurbs fly past, most hard to read. Tramway Galactic Linked to Factory Explosion. Tax Breaks Shoved Through Senate. The Ugly Truth About Tramway. Captain Young gestures and both screens fade to the desktop: an old photo of Young and her father wearing military uniforms.

31. She exits silently. INT. LUNAR STATION, AIRLOCK - MOMENTS LATER Summers stands next to a rover wearing a surface suit, minus the helmet. She holds a DIGITAL SLATE and runs through basic safety tests. Captain Young enters. Summers looks up.

CAPTAIN YOUNG Lets go for a ride. Beat. Okay. SUMMERS

EXT. LUNAR SURFACE - LATER The rover, which resembles a chrome dune-buggy, bounces through the white desert, kicking up dust. Summers drives like theyre in the Indy 500, wearing a slight smile. CAPTAIN YOUNG Summers, slow down. A crater appears out of nowhere. Watch out. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD)

At the last second, Summers twists the wheel. She narrowly avoids the crater, and Captain Young grabs a handhold to keep from falling out. Pull over. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) Im driving.

SUMMERS Technically, youre not allowed to. This rover is property of Tramway Galactic and youre not certified. Summers drives on. A GIANT CRATER looms ahead. CAPTAIN YOUNG

Summers...

The crater is getting closer.

32. Fast. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) The crater. Summers ignores her, the drop a mere fifty yards away. Summers! Twenty yards. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) Thats an order! As Summers slams on the breaks, Captain Young grabs the wheel and turns hard. The tires lose their grip, and they skid sideways toward the drop. Summers knocks Captain Youngs hand away, and takes back the wheel. She cranks it in the opposite direction and hits the gas. For a brief moment, the rover runs parallel to the edge of the crater, but Summers over-corrects. The rover flips to the side twice, somehow landing on its wheels. The two women sit in the beat-up rover, lost in a cloud of dust. SUMMERS (yelling) Why the hell did you grab the wheel? Summers gets out and walks to the back. CAPTAIN YOUNG You werent stopping. I have a responsiblity-SUMMERS Its called physics, G.I. Jane. We had more than enough traction to brake. Summers pulls out a long metal SENSOR -- a javelin tip on one end and a red light on the other. Captain Young inspects the front of the rover. A headlight dangles off the bumper, and one wheel is cracked. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD)

33. CAPTAIN YOUNG Shit. (into com) Simson, this is Young. Were going to need a tow. COSMO (THROUGH COM) Copy that, Captain. CAPTAIN YOUNG Transmitting location. Young presses a button on her WRIST COMPUTER. SUMMERS Typical military bullshit. Lets go by rank instead of actual knowledge. CAPTAIN YOUNG Why are you here, Summers? What? SUMMERS

CAPTAIN YOUNG Why are you here? Im here to establish an outpost for space exploration. Eve and Phillips, theyre here to do research, maybe inch humanity forward a little bit. Hell, Cosmos a national treasure. And youre here for... a corporation? Money? Summers turns. She heaves the sensor. It flies over the moons surface, seeming like it will never land. Then, a puff of dust goes up in the center of the crater. Summers squints at the sensors blinking red tip. Well? CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD)

Summers presses a button on her wrist computer. The sensors light turns green, and a burst of electricity snakes from its tip and up the craters walls. The soil darkens as magnetized metals rise to the surface. SUMMERS This is why Im here.

34. Summers strides to the lip of the crater and looks at the screen on her wrist. It displays a data stream that might as well be Greek. Shit. 1.2. 1.2 what? SUMMERS (CONTD) CAPTAIN YOUNG

SUMMERS Helium-3 parts per 50 billion. Barely more than Earth. She sighs. SUMMERS (CONTD) Looks like this crater isnt our winning lottery ticket. INT. LUNAR STATION, MED-BAY - CONTINUOUS The silver bracelet smolders as Eves heartbeat increases. Her eyes shoot open and she tears it off. She looks around, confused, clutching a deep burn left by the bracelet. EXT. LUNAR SURFACE - LATER Two rovers sit bumper to bumper. Cosmo grabs a thick wire coil on his bumper, and unspools it toward the broken rover. Young and Summers wait in their seats. COSMO I cant believe you broke it. SUMMERS I cant believe you designed something so easy to break. Cosmo considers this. COSMO Fair point. He hooks the wire onto the womens rover.

35. CAPTAIN YOUNG So you didnt find what youre looking for. Now what? SUMMERS Keep looking. You heard the suit. Tramway bet big coming up here. If we dont find anything theyll basically go bankrupt. PHILLIPS (THROUGH COM) Come in, Captain. CAPTAIN YOUNG This is Young. Its Eve. PHILLIPS (THROUGH COM) Shes awake.

CAPTAIN YOUNG Simson, hows it look? Cosmo presses a BUTTON on his dashboard. taut. COSMO We are ready to be rolling. CAPTAIN YOUNG (to Phillips) On our way. INT. LUNAR STATION, OUTSIDE BATHROOM - LATER Cooper and Phillips stand outside the bathroom door. the sound of RUNNING WATER. Captain Young enters with Summers and Cosmo. CAPTAIN YOUNG Whats going on? PHILLIPS Eves in the bathroom. COOPER And some of us have to go. He urgently bangs on the door. Eve? COOPER (CONTD) We hear The wire snaps

36. INT. LUNAR STATION, BATHROOM - CONTINUOUS An expansive bathroom, resembling something youd find in an upscale gym or day-spa. Eve huddles in the corner of a shower. She shivers, and turns up the heat. The burn mark on her wrist is gone. KNOCKING from outside. INT. LUNAR STATION, OUTSIDE BATHROOM - CONTINUOUS Summers spots one of the many cameras spread around the base. She looks up at it. SUMMERS (to camera) Cant you open it? STEVENS (THROUGH SPEAKER) Working on it. SUMMERS (to camera) Is she okay? INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS STEVENS Cant tell. Showers are a darkzone for us. FAIRFIELD Just a sec. Fairfield types with confidence. INT. LUNAR STATION, OUTSIDE BATHROOM - CONTINUOUS The door unlocks and slides open. Steam pours from the doorway. grabs his shoulder. Let me. SUMMERS Summers enters. Cooper starts in, but Summers

Cooper looks to Captain Young, who nods.

37. INT. LUNAR STATION, BATHROOM - CONTINUOUS Summers makes her way through thick steam from the showers. She finds the one thats running. Eve? SUMMERS

EVE What happened? Eve is barely visible behind the wall of steam. crouches down to her level. SUMMERS Not sure. Caught a nasty bug on the way, maybe. How do you feel? EVE Were here? We made it? We did. water? SUMMERS How about we turn off the Summers

She reaches for the knob, but snatches her hand back in pain. SUMMERS (CONTD) Thats scalding. Eve looks at the water, as if noticing it for the first time. She shrugs and turns it off. SUMMERS (CONTD) Are you okay? Im-EVE A NEW Eve is here.

She stands up, her head clearing. --hungry. EVE (CONTD)

Completely naked, she purposefully strides past Summers and out the door. The others stare as she exits, dripping. As soon as shes gone, Cooper sprints for a toilet. INT. LUNAR STATION, MESS HALL - LATER The crew watches in disgust as Eve, now wearing her jumpsuit, devours the green oatmeal.

38. On the other side of the room, Cosmo works on the broken rover. PHILLIPS Slow down, Eve. You havent had solid food for a while. COOPER Still doesnt explain why shes eating that. Eve scrapes her bowl, getting every last morsel. EVE Is there any more? COSMO (hidden by rover) Gallons. Take mine. COOPER

He slides his bowl to Eve. CAPTAIN YOUNG Glad youre getting your strength back, Eve. Captain Young launches the holo-display, showing the same crater as earlier. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) Our scout today was only a minor disaster. SUMMERS We need to go out again soon. Tramway isnt happy with the results of the survey. CAPTAIN YOUNG How long until the rover is fixed? Cosmo doesnt respond. animal. Simson. He stares at Eve, who eats like an

CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) How long?

COSMO Oh, um, soon. Nothing some elbow grease and a new longitudinal transaxle cant fix.

39. Cosmo pulls a small laser from a holster on his belt. He uses the beam to weld the cracked metal together with loud ZAPS and POPS. He blows it like a gun and holsters it again. CAPTAIN YOUNG Alright, Id like briefings from everyone by-Eve stands up suddenly. EVE Im going to the gym. She struts over to Cooper and drapes her arms over his shoulder. EVE (CONTD) Could use a spotter. Eve leaves. Youngs pissed. The others dont know what to make of it.

COOPER Ill, uh, go get her. He exits. Cosmo hammers at the wheel with a huge mallet. CAPTAIN YOUNG (snaps) Do you have to do that in here? Cosmo peeks over the rover. COSMO I wanted to hang out. INT. LUNAR STATION, GYM - CONTINUOUS Eve bench presses two resistance bands over and over. Its nothing to her. She stops, raises the resistance, and gets back at it. Cooper enters, but Eve barely takes notice. Up. Down. Up. Down. COOPER Weights, huh?

40. Her pace quickens. COOPER (CONTD) Cool. Thats cool. You know, Captain Young, she wasnt done with her-Eve gets up and moves to a treadmill. EVE I was done. Cooper gets on the bench-press. He attempts to lift the weight, but cant. The machine is maxed out. He sits up. COOPER Right... You feeling alright, Eve? Were all a little worried. Eve hops off the speeding treadmill. and places it on her chest. EVE You feel that? Umm. COOPER She grabs Coopers hand

EVE My heart rate.

Slow and steady.

COOPER Yeah, I guess youre right. INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS Stevens sits, focusing intensely, facing away from the monitors. In the background we see Eve and Cooper on one of the screens. STEVENS (into bluetooth) No, Im not going to tell you how to use it. Well, first of all, theres a manual. Second, its MY FUCKING GRILL. NOISE from the station in the background. The sound of a HEART BEAT. to call to her. EVE I can hear it. She unzips her jumper slowly. EVE (CONTD) We could go back to the briefing if you want. Fuck that. COOPER His bulging carotid artery seems

EVE My thoughts exactly. Cooper tries to grab her, but she pushes him onto the bench press. Shes in charge. He hurriedly zips down his jumpsuit, and peels off his undershirt -- every womans dream. Eve straddles him, and kisses his neck. She slides off her jumper, and digs her nails into his back.

42. INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS Stevens, still not paying attention. be seen. Fairfield is nowhere to

STEVENS Lets calm down and talk about this as people. Just two people. Who hate each other. INT. LUNAR STATION, GYM - CONTINUOUS Cooper enjoys himself as Eve nibbles at his neck. Suddenly, the shutters over the windows start to roll upward, and moonlight streams into the gym. COOPER Oh, oh... mmm. Eves nails rake across his back. but then deeper, drawing blood. Ahh. Playfully rough at first,

COOPER (CONTD) Okay, okay.

He pushes her back in pain. She drops her gaze to look at her stained red fingertips. COOPER (CONTD) Damn girl. I like it rough, but how about a little romance? Coopers look turns to concern. Eve just stares at her hands. Hey... COOPER (CONTD) Its fine... He hurt her feelings.

Cooper lifts her head up to reassure her, and turns white with fear. Eves eyes are bright yellow. Oh, shit. COOPER (CONTD)

Eve grabs Cooper savagely. Shes strong, but he wriggles away from her, sprinting toward the door.

43. COOPER (CONTD) Guys! Somethings up with--

Hey!

He pulls on the door handle. Locked. He shakily tries to punch in an unlock code, but Eves on him in a flash. She throws him to the ground and leaps on top, almost superhuman. No... COOPER (CONTD)

INT. LUNAR STATION, MESS HALL - CONTINUOUS Cosmo sits in the repaired rover, proudly testing the wheel. The others remain at the table. COSMO I am a mechanical god. He twists the wheel back and forth quickly, and the headlight falls off. PHILLIPS You were saying? Demigod. COSMO

Coopers SCREAMS ring through the base. The crew tenses, looking for where the sound is coming from. The gym. SUMMERS

CAPTAIN YOUNG (to crew) Spread out. They inch into the room. Eve? Summers SCREAMS. Moonlight reflects off a puddle of blood, revealing Coopers body with a massive chunk missing from his neck. Oh my God. SUMMERS CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD)

CAPTAIN YOUNG Keep looking. Be careful. Second after excruciating second passes, as the crew searches the gym. Finally: CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) Shes not here. Fairfield scrolls quickly through all the cameras, bringing them up one by one on the main monitor. FAIRFIELD We dont have visual on her here, either. She must be in a dark zone. Summers examines the gym door. The metal is dented, and there are five deep scratches in it. She traces them with her hand. She looks up, scared. SUMMERS We need to find her.

46. INT. LUNAR STATION, CAPTAIN YOUNGS DORM - MOMENTS LATER Youngs computer shows a map of the base. crowd into the room. Two red areas stand out on the map. FAIRFIELD (FROM SPEAKER) These are the only areas we dont have camera coverage: the showers and the outer-edge of the greenhouse. Captain Young pulls a key card from one of her drawers. CAPTAIN YOUNG Phillips, youre the greenhouse expert. Take Cosmo with you. If you see anything, make immediate radio contact. PHILLIPS Yes, maam. CAPTAIN YOUNG Summers and I will take the showers. (into com) Fairfield, youre our eyes and ears. Keep all communications over com; I dont want anything on the P.A. Copy that. FAIRFIELD (THROUGH COM) The remaining crew

COSMO Excuse me, Captain. But how do we stop her from doing whatever she did to Cooper... to us? Captain Young slides her keycard into a slot on the desk. A compartment opens, revealing two large handguns. CAPTAIN YOUNG You are all about to find that-Young takes one and hands the other to Cosmo. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) --I am not one with whom to fuck. She cocks her gun.

47. INT. MISSION CONTROL Fairfield keeps an eye on the monitors. Stevens paces.

STEVENS Oh, this is bad. Bad, bad, bad. Baaaaaad. Ive got people to answer to... The board, stockholders, not to mention those hyenas in the press-FAIRFIELD Your concern for the crews safety is admirable. STEVENS You want to talk safety, huh? How about telling me why Young has two guns in her desk, just waiting to tear apart my base? ADMIRAL Its not your base. ADMIRAL COOMER (50s), a good olboy who could sweet talk you just as soon as he could shoot you dead, steps into the room. ADMIRAL (CONTD) And consider them the US militarys insurance policy. Fairfield and Stevens share a nervous glance. Admiral. Timothy. FAIRFIELD ADMIRAL Mister Stevens.

He stares intently at the monitors for a few beats -- enough for Stevens and Fairfield to feel awkward, but they arent about to say anything. ADMIRAL (CONTD) You know, I got myself a new mattress. One of those set-yourown-number deals. Real expensive. His eyes dont leave the monitors. ADMIRAL (CONTD) Britts back has been hurting her, and our other one must have been going on twenty-five years. (MORE)

48. ADMIRAL (CONTD) Youre supposed to replace them every ten, I hear. Silence. ADMIRAL (CONTD) Ask me how I like it, Timothy. How do-FAIRFIELD

ADMIRAL I dont know. They delivered it today. And Im here. So lets fix whatever needs fixin, because I want to go home and sleep on my $7,000 dollar mother fuckin mattress. All three watch the main monitor as Cosmo and Phillips enter a long hallway. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS Cosmo and Phillips head down an ominous corridor toward the greenhouse. COSMO (to self) Be a cosmonaut, they said. the moon, they said. (swearing) Vsyo zayebis! PHILLIPS You scared? COSMO Arent you? Phillips shakes his head. PHILLIPS I grew up in the projects, man. Ive seen worse than this. I dont know what happened to her, but this is still Eve were talking about. Cosmo glances down at his gun. COSMO What are we going to do when we find her?

49. PHILLIPS Well figure it out. The two men get to a door. It slides open revealing:

INT. LUNAR STATION, GREENHOUSE Its massive, bigger than the rest of the station combined. Moisture clings to the glass, throwing a milky glow over the trees, bushes, and ferns at various stages of maturity. Moonlight pours through the domed ceiling, creating a spotlight in the forests center. The door shuts behind them. Roomy. COSMO Cosmo whistles softly.

PHILLIPS Once its fully planted, it can provide food for one hundred and fifty people. Scrub that much air too. COSMO All this, and were eating green snot. PHILLIPS Lets work our way around. He nods to the left, and they start toward the outer edge. PHILLIPS (CONTD) It just doesnt make sense. Why would Eve snap? COSMO Maybe she was-Cosmo trips over a root and hits the ground hard. spins out of his hand and fires into the air. The pistol

INT. LUNAR STATION, GREENHOUSE - CONTINUOUS Cosmo and Phillips creep toward the sound of the scream. Cosmo holds out a hand to stop Phillips. There. COSMO

He nods. Eve sits under a tree, clutching her knees to her chest. Streaks of tears run across the crusted blood on her face. They creep closer. PHILLIPS Let me talk to her. COSMO Nyet. We get her in custody. we talk. Then

Phillips starts to protest, but Cosmo has already started toward Eve, his gun raised. COSMO (CONTD) (whispered) Eve. Its Cosmo. No response. Eve. COSMO (CONTD)

PHILLIPS You know I cant. She continues to struggle. Breathe. PHILLIPS (CONTD)

Eve relaxes a bit. Phillips leads her back under the tree, and sits beside her. PHILLIPS (CONTD) Eve, weve got to get you somewhere safe. Eve answers with silence. Phillips changes tactics.

PHILLIPS (CONTD) I love it in here. Feels like Earth. More silence.

52. PHILLIPS (CONTD) I didnt think Id miss it so much, but everything is so different up here. Alien. And with all the rules and procedures and tests they put us through... Half the time I didnt even feel human. That doctor can cram her tests where the sun dont shine. Whoever she was. He winks at Eve. She smiles a little.

EVE I want to go home. Me too. Silence. EVE What are they going to do to me? PHILLIPS I dont know. I just want us all to be safe, including you. She mulls this over. On the other side of the greenhouse, Summers and Young enter out of breath. Cosmo stands near the door with his hand wrapped in his shirt, putting pressure on the bite. CAPTAIN YOUNG Whats going on? Wheres Phillips? COSMO Over there. With Eve. SUMMERS Is everyone okay? COSMO He sent me away. She seems frightened more than anything, but... He nods to his bleeding hand. COSMO (CONTD) Kitty will be having claws. PHILLIPS

53. CAPTAIN YOUNG Go put some antiseptic on that. Lot of bacteria in here. Well cover Phillips. Cosmo leaves. Back under the trees, Eve seems more human. EVE I need to show you something. Okay. PHILLIPS

EVE Dont freak. Eve looks up at him with her yellow eyes. Phillips lets out a small gasp and she turns away. He takes her by the shoulder, slowly turning her back toward him. He looks her over. Its okay. PHILLIPS

EVE Whats happening to me? PHILLIPS I-- I dont know. But well figure it out. She hugs him, holding him tight. Thank you. EVE

The sound of THUNDER rumbles through the greenhouse speakers. Come on. PHILLIPS Its about to rain.

A light mist falls from the roof. Phillips extends his hand, gently helping Eve off the ground. He leads her through the greenhouse toward the others. Captain Young and Summers come into view across a central clearing.

54. PHILLIPS (CONTD) (shouting to them) Its okay. Were okay. Eve stops at the sight of Youngs gun. Phillipss hand and hides behind him. EVE She has a gun. PHILLIPS Put the gun away. Shes not going to be any trouble. Captain Young doesnt make any move. CAPTAIN YOUNG You have my word, Eve. If you dont do anything, we wont do anything. A moment of hesitation, then Eve assents and they keep coming, hand in hand. INT. LUNAR STATION, MED-BAY - CONTINUOUS Cosmo examines his hand. Blood drips from the deep bite. She clenches

On the counter below him are a package of bandages, his gun, and the bottle from the shuttle -- an expensive Russian vodka. Cosmo grabs the bottle. COSMO One for you. He pours some vodka on the wound. COSMO (CONTD) And one for me. He takes a quick sip and begins to set the bottle down, but notices a MONITOR displaying vital stats for all six crew members. A photo of Cooper stares back at him, just above a flatlining electrocardiogram. COSMO (CONTD) Maybe two for me. A longer swig. He picks up the bandages. He winces.

55. INT. LUNAR STATION, GREENHOUSE - CONTINUOUS Eve and Phillips continue toward Young and Summers, making their way into the middle of the clearing. Eve stops, bathed in moonlight from the central dome. looks up at the glass. PHILLIPS Come on, Eve. She doesnt move. The light dances around her. CAPTAIN YOUNG He looks to She

Lets go.

Phillips pulls her hand, but she wont budge. Captain Young for guidance. She levels her gun on Eve. Wait! PHILLIPS Dont shoot.

He watches as the womens expressions turn first to amazement, then to fright. Phillips turns in time to see Eve twist and bulge. Her face elongates, her nails grow. With CRACKS and POPS, her bones stretch and change. PHILLIPS (CONTD) What in the... Her grip tightens, crushing Phillipss hand. knees in pain. He falls to his

Young keeps her gun trained on Eve, but she seems dazed. PHILLIPS (CONTD) (in pain) What are you waiting for? Shoot her! He stares up at the malformed creature that Eves become. Shes mutated, but seems stuck in some seven foot tall, halfhuman form. BANG. A bullet hits Eve in the chest, and she staggers from the impact. PHILLIPS (CONTD) Get me the fuck away from her!

56. He tries to run, but shes still got his hand. CAPTAIN YOUNG Let him go! PHILLIPS (pleading) Eve, can you hear me? She cocks her head. PHILLIPS (CONTD) Yeah, Eve. Its me, Thomas. She WAILS as her face elongates further, her cry transforming into a desolate HOWL. She grabs Phillips roughly and lifts him into the air. Her claws sink into his shoulders. Phillips SCREAMS. Young unloads a few more rounds, but they have little effect. Eve starts to pull at Phillips... shes tearing him in half. His SHRIEKS fill the room. Get out. CAPTAIN YOUNG

SUMMERS Wh-- What the hell? Go. CAPTAIN YOUNG

Summers spins out the door. Captain Young points her gun, takes a deep breath, and shoots Phillips in the head, relieving his pain. Eve looks up, her eyes fierce with animal rage. She throws Phillips to the ground and advances on Young, slowly at first but building into a sprint. Captain Young stands her ground. but Eve keeps coming. She finishes off her clip,

CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) (into com) Fairfield, lock the door. She leaps out and the door shuts behind her.

57. INT. LUNAR STATION, OUTSIDE GREENHOUSE - CONTINUOUS The two women slowly back away from the greenhouse, keeping their eyes on the door. BAM. The door shudders as Eve hurls her body against it. SUMMERS She couldnt-BAM. Another HOWL fills the station. CAPTAIN YOUNG I dont want to find out. They turn and run. BAM! The door dents, opening by a sliver. A gnarled claw/hand pokes through. CRASH. The door gives way, and Eve lopes after them on all fours, SNARLING. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS Summers and Captain Young race down the hall. CAPTAIN YOUNG (into com) Shut all the doors behind us. A series of doors slide closed behind them as they run; Eve blitzes through each one. They reach the airlock, and hit the thick metal door hard. SUMMERS Its locked! CAPTAIN YOUNG (into com) Fairfield! FAIRFIELD (THROUGH COM) Working on it. The lock CLICKS and the door begins to open. They try to encourage it, but its slow and Eves coming up fast. Get in. CAPTAIN YOUNG

Summers squeezes through the opening, then Young... but its not quite wide enough. Youngs stuck.

58. She turns and looks at the beast. Its gaining. She turns again.

Panicking, she struggles against the door. Eve froths at the mouth, seconds away.

Summers grabs Youngs arm, and, with Herculean effort, pulls her inside. INT. LUNAR STATION, AIRLOCK - CONTINUOUS Captain Young hits a button next to the door. WHOOMP. It slides shut just in time. The door rattles as the beast slams into it with a dull THUD. You okay? SUMMERS

She gets no response. Young watches the monster peer at them through the doors small window. It breathes heavily, blanketing the glass with vapor. CAPTAIN YOUNG What the hell is that thing? INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS On the central monitor, Eve paces like a junkyard dog, scratching ineffectually at the thick door. FAIRFIELD (into mic) Its holding. Were good for now. Eve looks at a camera, understanding, then runs away from the door. Im dead. Excuse me? STEVENS ADMIRAL

STEVENS Did you see how much damage that... that thing did to my base? Our base. ADMIRAL

59. Fairfield follows the creature from room to room. STEVENS Whatever. Its in the billions, easy. The board is already all over my ass, and so far our mining rights are about as valuable as my ex-wifes bead collection. Fairfield stares at the screen, trying to comprehend. FAIRFIELD (low, to screen) What are you doing? ADMIRAL We have people on that base, Stevens. Fairfield turns. FAIRFIELD Shes trying to get into the wiring. They ignore him. STEVENS Boo-fucking-hoo. If youre asking me to choose people or money, well... money never had a lesbian relationship with her yoga teacher. What? ADMIRAL

Eve breaches an interior wall of the base. Uh oh. FAIRFIELD The screens go

Eve takes a mouthful of wires and pulls. black. ADMIRAL What happened? STEVENS Whatd you do, Tim?

Fairfield clicks around on the control panel. FAIRFIELD Were dark.

Nothing.

60. Stevens kicks over a trash-can. Great. too. Beat. ADMIRAL What do you mean? What? STEVENS STEVENS Apparently theyre smart,

FAIRFIELD You said theyre smart. ADMIRAL What, exactly, do you think were dealing with, Stevens? STEVENS Oh, come on. Im the asshole who has to say it? Fairfield and Admiral Coomer wait. STEVENS (CONTD) Fine. Gentlemen, that is a fucking werewolf. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY - MOMENTS LATER Cosmo stands in the damaged greenhouse doorway, his gun in one hand and the bottle in the other. The long, fluorescent hallway extends behind him. Cosmo reaches into the shadows... and pulls back Phillipss severed head. AH! He drops the head. Shadows flicker behind him, accompanied by the PATTER of quick footsteps. Cosmo whips around. He sprints madly for the door.

The monster appears out of the shadows, blocking his getaway. It lets out a deep, rolling GROWL. Cosmo stops dead, kneels, and shoots -- quick and precise. But the monster disappears back into the darkness. He keeps his gun level, waiting.

62. Plants RUSTLE, silhouetted by the pale moonlight, but the creature is nowhere to be seen. Cosmo glances down at the bottle resting by his feet. An idea. He rips off a piece of his sleeve, keeping an eye on the surrounding gloom. He fires some warning shots into the forest. BANG, BANG, BANG. He removes the stopper from the bottle and stuffs the sleeve into the opening. Then, taking his laser welder from his belt, he uses an extra bandage to attach it to the bottles side. He flips on the laser. It BUZZES, emitting a pale blue beam that hits the torn sleeve. The sleeve starts to smoke. Cosmo holds his laser-Molotov cocktail in one hand, while keeping his gun trained on the darkness. He backs toward the door. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS Cosmo backs out of the greenhouse, and into the dark corridor. He turns to leave... but there, feet away, stands the wolf, fully formed and baring its teeth. Cosmo stares, wide-eyed. COSMO ...Nice doggy. The wolf advances. Cosmo starts backward. into a corner. His eyes dart. Hes being pushed

He hurls the bottle at the monster, but it doesnt break, rolling harmlessly to the side. Oyvet. COSMO (CONTD) Piece of shit. Ready to pounce.

The wolf continues forward in a low crouch.

Cosmo shoots the bottle. It explodes into a massive fireball, engulfing the wolf. Cosmo scrambles backward into the corner.

63. COSMO (CONTD) Thats right. A BELL sounds, and emergency sprinklers spray from the ceiling, muffling the flames. Cosmo peers through the resulting smoke. The creature walks through a wall of fire, shaking flames off her fur like a dog stepping out of a pool, before the sprinklers kill the remaining blaze. Cosmo raises his gun and fires, but she just stares at him -charred, wet, and wrathful. She advances. Slowly. Intent on her kill. Cosmo has nowhere to go. He closes his eyes and raises his hands, instinctively shielding himself from the smoking, growling beast. Her snout, inches away, sniffs. She lets out a low rumble. Sniffs again. Cosmo opens his eyes. INT. LUNAR STATION, AIRLOCK - CONTINUOUS A long HOWL echoes through the base. The lights flicker. Gets even closer to his hand.

While Captain Young determinedly tries the radio, Summers paces. CAPTAIN YOUNG (into com) Repeat, this is Captain Heather Young of the space shuttle Orion. Please respond. No response. Summers shakes her head.

SUMMERS Its no use. Were trapped. Captain Young glowers at Summers, but knows shes right. Silence. CAPTAIN YOUNG (into com) This is Captain Heather Young of the space shuttle Orion. Come in, mission control.

64. Shes answered by the CRASHING of the monster reverberating through the airlocks vent. INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS Fairfield sits at the main console, working feverishly on a laptop. On the other side of the room, Admiral Coomer and Stevens replay Eves transformation on a small, roll-away monitor. STEVENS We need to stop this thing before it does any more damage to my-- our base. ADMIRAL Timothy, how close are we to radio contact? Fairfield types rapidly. FAIRFIELD Well see... INT. LUNAR STATION, AIRLOCK - LATER Summers slouches against a wall. Captain Young paces.

CAPTAIN YOUNG (tired) This is Captain Heather Young of the space shuttle-SUMMERS (sarcastic) Orion. Come in, mission control. This is Captain Heather Young of the goddamned space shuttle-Enough! How long are we going to wait here? We have a ship. CAPTAIN YOUNG We dont have Cosmo. And the ships docked. It can only be launched by mission control... or from the command room. You really want to go exploring? They fall into a tense silence.

She pulls at the door. Stop! SUMMERS What are you doing?

CAPTAIN YOUNG (with strain) Its Cosmo. Summers runs to the door just as Captain Young wrenches it open. A dark blur leaps through the opening and knocks Summers to the ground. She screams. Young wrestles the creature off.

Its Cosmo. He looks like hes been through hell -- filthy, wet, wild-eyed -- but hes alive. Cosmo. SUMMERS

She runs and embraces him. SUMMERS (CONTD) Youre alright. Barely. He pulls away. COSMO (CONTD) Captain, there is-- there is monster in base! Phillips, he is... Cosmo shakes his head. We know. CAPTAIN YOUNG COSMO

COSMO Where is Eve? Young and Summers exchange a look. Silence. Finally:

Cosmo walks to the bay window and looks at Earth, hanging just over the lunar horizon. CAPTAIN YOUNG It just left? A strained silence. Then:

FAIRFIELD (THROUGH COM) (scratchy audio) Orion? Do you read me? A flood of relief. CAPTAIN YOUNG Fairfield, thank God. Whats happening? INT. MISSION CONTROL / INT. AIRLOCK - CROSS CUT Fairfield sighs, relieved. behind him. Admiral Coomer and Stevens listen

FAIRFIELD Well, um... Fairfield has no answer for Young. Stevens grabs the mic.

STEVENS Young, its Stevens. No point in beating around the bush. That thing you saw? Its a werewolf. The crew look at each other. Subtly, Cosmo peels back his bandage. The bite looks infected; green and black veins spiderweb across his hand. He quickly tapes it back down.

67. CAPTAIN YOUNG Fine. I dont care what it is. Just initiate the launch sequence and get us out of here. FAIRFIELD ...we cant. Eve, or whatever Eve has become-Werewolf. STEVENS

FAIRFIELD She bit through our link to the base. I hacked into a satellite to slingshot our radio signal, but we dont have access to any station systems. Cosmo starts to twitch a little, but his eyes never leave the window. Summers and Young listen intently. ADMIRAL Captain Young. Admiral? CAPTAIN YOUNG

ADMIRAL Well, I sure as shit aint Dracula. Young, I want it dead, you understand? Yes sir. CAPTAIN YOUNG

ADMIRAL Weve got too much invested up there to just pull the plug and blow the whole place. Congressd be on us like ducks on a June bug. Itd be the end of the space program as we know it. He turns to Stevens and Fairfield. ADMIRAL (CONTD) So what do we do? Lets say it is a... werewolf. How do we take it down? STEVENS Silver bullet. I mean, thats the only way Ive ever heard of.

68. Fairfield has had enough. FAIRFIELD Excuse me. Are we not men of science? I dont care what it is, if we take away its oxygen that thing is going to die. SUMMERS What are you saying? FAIRFIELD If Cosmo restores our connection, I can reset life support systems and suck all the oxygen out of the base. Right, Cosmo? Cosmos eyes come back into focus at his name. Yeah. COSMO Yeah, sure.

FAIRFIELD That means youll all need surface suits to survive. What do the oxygen levels look like? Young checks the suits in the airlock. CAPTAIN YOUNG Low. Didnt refill after the crater run. FAIRFIELD Then someones going to have to get new tanks from storage. SUMMERS Ill do it. CAPTAIN YOUNG No. Im going. Ive already lost three crew members. Im not risking anyone else if I can help it. But-Im going. SUMMERS CAPTAIN YOUNG

69. FAIRFIELD In that case, Kira, I need you to prep the ship. Once the systems functioning and youre all in place, Ill vacuum the air out of that things lungs and then initiate launch. Well have you home by dinner. CAPTAIN YOUNG Roger that. Lets move. INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS Good luck. FAIRFIELD Fairfield out.

Fairfield gets back to his code. Stevens watches the small monitor. plowing through door after door. It replays the creature

ADMIRAL (to himself, if anyone) Thisll work. STEVENS Hey, what are the door frames made of again? FAIRFIELD Its a titanium alloy. Arent you supposed to know this stuff? Uh huh. STEVENS

Stevens stands up and takes Admiral Coomer by the shoulder. STEVENS (CONTD) (whispered) A word? They move out of Fairfields earshot. STEVENS (CONTD) I think we might be making a huge mistake.

70. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS Young and Cosmo proceed cautiously away from the airlock. Cosmo, looking more and more haggard, carries a toolbag. He pulls up his sleeve. The black veins now stretch imposingly up his forearm. Young catches him quickly rolling the sleeve back down. CAPTAIN YOUNG You alright? Yes. COSMO

Young eyes him suspiciously. Cosmo-I am fine. CAPTAIN YOUNG COSMO

71. STEVENS You saw what that thing did. A super soldier with one drop of its DNA could clear out a whole cave of terrorists in East Fuckistan. Its for the good of the country. Admiral Coomer considers this. ADMIRAL Whats in it for you? STEVENS Youll need a contractor. Big money. Someone to synthesize... whatever the fuck needs synthesizing. Beat. STEVENS (CONTD) You can ensure that no country ever has a better military than us. This is your patriotic duty. Silence. Finally, the Admiral nods. ADMIRAL Youre right. STEVENS Theres still one problem. Stevens glances at Fairfield, still working furiously. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS Cosmo repairs the wiring. He breathes heavily, struggling to focus. Sweat trickles down his face. INT. LUNAR STATION, STORAGE AREA - CONTINUOUS Captain Young searches the crowded closet for oxygen tanks. She spots them high on a shelf at the back. INT. AIRLOCK - CONTINUOUS Summers watches the ship, which sits on the launch pad, through a window. Using a robotic arm, she hooks up a refueling hose. Shes not happy she drew this straw, but she works efficiently.

72. She looks up at one of the dead cameras in the corner. SUMMERS Come on, Cosmo. A CLATTER and then a SCRATCHING from the other side of the airlock. Summers turns. She peers around one of the rovers in time to see the wolf BURST out of an air duct. She inhales sharply. Frozen with fear, Summers looks for an escape, but the creature stands between her and the door. Her eyes land on the MECHANIZED MINING WALKER, huge and imposing, which sports a powerful claw and a mining laser. Slowly and silently, she edges towards it, afraid to so much as exhale. Step after agonizing step. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS Nearly finished with the repair, Cosmo reaches for a soldering iron from his bag, but pulls back his arm in a coughing fit. The cough subsides, and he opens his hand to reveal a gob of red-black blood. He begins to shiver. INT. LUNAR STATION, AIRLOCK - CONTINUOUS Summers reaches the walker and hoists herself into the seat. From here she can see the wolf across the airlock, but it hasnt noticed her. She breathes a little easier and presses the walkers power button. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. The walker sounds as it powers up. The beast turns its head sharply, meeting eyes with Summers. Shit. SUMMERS Shit, shit, shit.

She slams on a joystick, trying to engage the walker, then notices a display screen: 5% POWER. Slowly, the display ticks up. 10% POWER.

The wolf comes around the rover into full view of Summers. Its hair bristles and it lets out a low GROWL. 17% POWER. It sprints at her.

SUMMERS (screaming) FUCK THIS PL-WHAM. The creature is knocked loose from the walker. Summers cant believe it. Cosmo brings Phillipss BASEBALL BAT up over his head for a second time, and swings it ferociously down on the beast. Hes overpowering. Home run! COSMO

Summers gets to the doorway and blocks Young from entering. She presses a button and the door slides shut, isolating Cosmo in the airlock. The women watch through the window as he staggers toward the surface suits, quickly pulling one on.

75. CAPTAIN YOUNG (THROUGH GLASS) Simson, what are you-SUMMERS (quietly) He got bit. No. CAPTAIN YOUNG (THROUGH GLASS) We can get you help.

CAPTAIN YOUNG Lets just get off this rock.

78. INT. LUNAR STATION, HALLWAY - MOMENTS LATER Captain Young strides determinedly down the mangled hallway, gun in one hand, two of the long metal sensors in the other. Summers trails just behind. The lights flicker, and broken ventilation fans WHINE. Moonlight pours through the windows. A CRASH in the distance. Summers freezes, but Young doesnt even break stride. Eve is nowhere to be seen. Summers hurries to catch up with Young. SUMMERS Where are we going? Silver. What? CAPTAIN YOUNG SUMMERS

CAPTAIN YOUNG We use sheets of silver in the water purification system. Thats the way to take Eve down. SUMMERS Im not sure if-CAPTAIN YOUNG You got a better idea? Summers starts to say something, but... shes got nothing. Theres a HOWL from somewhere in the station. INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS Admiral Coomer and Stevens watch as Captain Young and Summers make their way toward the Greenhouse. ADMIRAL You worried, Stevens? STEVENS About what? Any launch has to be engaged from this room, right? ADMIRAL Or the space station computers.

79. STEVENS Their tech guy has gone to the big Kremlin in the sky. And were sure as hell not bringing them home. Theyre trapped. All we have to do is wait for Eve to do her work. ADMIRAL Just know that if things dont work out... I wont be the one taking the fall. He keeps his eyes on Stevens, who laughs uncomfortably. Unnoticed, a prompt appears on the console screen: REMOTE ACCESS GRANTED. On its own, the mouse clicks OK. INT. LUNAR STATION, WATER PURIFICATION ROOM - LATER A small room separated from the greenhouse by a paneled-glass wall. Its covered in thick condensation. Captain Young and Summers tear off the cover of a large tank. Inside, water drips through an elaborate set of tubes onto SHEETS OF SILVER, and then into pipes that disappear into a dark tunnel. CAPTAIN YOUNG Here we go. Young pries out a sheet, about the size of a piece of paper. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) I owe you an apology, Summers. She takes another sheet, and hands it to Summers. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) I didnt like having someone on my crew who wasnt one of our people. But evidently being one of our people doesnt mean shit. They each wrap silver around the tip of a sensor, molding it like thick aluminum foil. Its fine. Its not. SUMMERS CAPTAIN YOUNG Im sorry.

80. SUMMERS Young goes back to the sensor.

Thanks.

They share a bitter smile.

CAPTAIN YOUNG You never really told me why you came here. Summers smile drains. She stares over Captain Youngs shoulder. Young turns. Its barely visible through the foggy glass, but there can be no mistake. The monster is eating what remains of Phillips. SUMMERS Where does this tunnel go? Captain Young puts a hand on her shoulder, and Summers drops her sensor out of fright. The silver tipped pole falls to the metal floor with a loud CLANG. The blurred beast looks up, but then goes back to eating. CAPTAIN YOUNG To the showers. Young examines the opening. Summers grabs her sensor.

CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) Its tight, but we can fit. A light strobes in the greenhouse, and we hear THUNDER. Mist falls from the sky and the condensation on the glass melts away, revealing the monster, wet and bloody. In a second its on them, charging full speed. Get in. CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD) Now. CRUNCH.

The beast barrels headfirst into the thick glass. The glass cracks, but otherwise holds steady.

Summers stares, mesmerized by what was once her friend. The wolf shakes off the hit and tries again. SUMMERS She cant get through. The wolf paces back and forth, growling and whining in frustration. She places a grotesque claw on the glass. Summers mirrors it with her own hand.

81. The monster cocks its head, then rakes its claws over the glass, leaving deep gouges. It throws all of its weight against the wall, and broad cracks creep across the panels. SUMMERS (CONTD) Clever gi-Captain Young yanks Summers away. CAPTAIN YOUNG Were leaving. The monster heaves herself at the wall again. SLAM. One small panel EXPLODES, showering cubed glass everywhere. It jams a claw through the small hole, and Summers jabs clumsily at it with her spear. The beast responds with a wide death-swipe, narrowly missing both Summers and Young. Go! CAPTAIN YOUNG (CONTD)

Captain Young shoves Summers toward the tunnel. As she is about to crawl through, a door slides in and cuts her off. SUMMERS Its blocked! INT. MISSION CONTROL - CONTINUOUS Stevens sits at the console. the door. Ha! STEVENS He watches as Summers pushes on

Eve works her way through the remains of the wall, all twisted metal and shattered glass. Young and Summers back their way to the door. Young takes her gun from her belt and levels it. The wolf assesses the situation: Summers with the second spear, Captain Young pointing her pistol, and Eve eyeing them both hungrily. Summers charges the beast with the silver-tipped death stick, poking and stabbing, but Eve sidesteps each attack. Captain Young raises her gun to try and subdue the wolf, but she cant get a shot off.
