Meekness: Until a man is nothing, God, can make nothing out of him. Meekness not in a persons outward behaviour only; not yet in his relationship with others; as little mere disposition. Rather it is an inwrought grace of the soul; and the exercise of it are first and chiefly towards God. It is that temper of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting it is closely linked with the word humility. Meek in regards to temper: But the meek are not weak by any means! To hold ones emotions in check while the rest of ones society battles its way to the top in that heady contest, is not childs play. Often more strength is required to stay out of these rivalries than to join. Meekness regards to self-control and controlled strength; When faced with insults, persecutions, butt of jokes, and humiliation, are permitted and employed by Him for the chastening and purifying of His elect.
