UGA GRADUATE SURVEY The Career Center is conducting a survey of recent UGA graduates for our annual Graduate Survey. To complete the survey, please visit our website at www.ugagradsurvey.com. Completing the survey will take less than 10 minutes of your time and make you eligible for our iPad Mini! Complete the survey by Dec. 6, 2013 to be eligible for the iPad Mini drawing. The data we collect is completely confidential and invaluable to current and future UGA students! All data collected is used in an aggregate form only. No more than one entry per graduate! RESUMADE FRESHMAN WORKSHOP & CRITIQUES ResuMADE Freshman Workshop: Wednesday, Nov. 13th 4-5pm, Creswell Hall TV Room ResuMADE Freshman Critiques: Thursday, Nov. 14th 5-7pm, Creswell Hall TV Room The Career Development Interns at the UGA Career Center have created an exciting event developed and put on by students for students. "Resumade" is an interactive workshop designed to help freshmen begin crafting their resumes, mapping their careers, and taking advantage of the number of resources available to them through the Career Center. This event has two phases. The first and main phase will take place November 13th from 4PM-5PM; the second phase, a session of individualized resume critiques, will take place the next day November 14th from 5PM-7PM. Both events will take place in Creswell Halls Programming Room! Please spread the word about this exciting and informative event! 4. CAREERS IN SOCIAL MEDIA Wednesday, November 13, 6:00pm - 7:00pm, Rm TBD Youve most likely used social media platforms for fun or to keep in touch with your friends, and now you can find out how to turn your hobby into a career! This panel will consist of alumni and professionals who currently work with social media technology every day. Hear about ways to obtain jobs in social media, what a typical work day is like, and the knowledge & skills needed to become a successful social media professional. 5. GET HIRED: JOB & INTERNSHIP SEARCHING Wednesday, November 13, 3:30pm-4:30pm, MLC Rm 150 Trying to get started on your full-time job or internship search? Whether youre graduating in December or just beginning to think about plans for next summer, this workshop can help you get the ball rolling. Topics will include steps and resources for planning your job and internship search, as well as ways to troubleshoot any challenges you may encounter. 7. MILITARY VETERANS EXPLORING INTERNSHIPS Thursday, November 14, 3:30pm-4:30pm, Tate Student Center, Rm 137 Career Program For Military Veterans On November 14, 3:30-4:30, Rm 137 Tate, Charles Perry, UGAs Career Center Veteran Liaison, will engage with interested student veterans about finding tailored internships (paid/unpaid) that align with career ambitions. Though experience in the military positions veterans as strong candidates sought after by many companies, meaningful experiences (internships) in the field provide post-military responsibilities and significant focus to elevate your candidacy over the standard applicant field. To your candidacy, keep you current, and separate you from an otherwise crowded applicant field. Mr. Perry will introduce the methods for attaining internships and discuss how the Career Center can provide individual help with the search and with developing materials for applying. COLLEGE OF PUBLIC HEALTH FALL OPEN HOUSE 2013 Thursday, November 14, 11:00am-3:00pm This event is designed to give everyone an introduction to the areas of public health available at The University of Georgia College of Public Health. It is open to all who are interested in pursuing graduate study in public health. The event this year will be formatted into several parts, including an information session, working lunch covering admissions, break-out departmental sessions, a tour of the new Health Sciences Campus, and an option to observe a class.
