Ramayan took place in the Treta Yug. From the Bhagavata Puran, we know that Kali Yug is 4,32,000

years long while that of the Dwapar and the Treta Yug is double and triple, respectively, that of Kali Yug. . Hence, it is without doubt that at least 9 lakh years have passed since Ramayan took place. . Next, Valmiki was a contemporary of Shri Ram & hence, Valmiki Ramayan is considered as most accurate while describing the attributes of Shri Ram.

Valmiki says that Shri Ram ruled Ayodhya for a period of 11,000

years in atleast 4 places. You can refer

to http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#CommMsgs?cmm=26138052&tid=5468437749545824018 . . We know the Mahabharat happened some 5000 years back and Shri Ram came before Lord Krishna. Hence, it is impossible that Ramayan would have taken place 9000 years back..... not even 9000 BC. . . From the above discussion, we can conclusively say that Ramayan took place in the Treta Yug, which should be around 14-20 lakh years ago.

Mallikarjuna Vallem - Sep 11, 2010

Many avatars of Vishnu have been mentioned in different Puranas. To confirm this passing references have been given at innumerable places in Itihasas and other sources.

Bhagavata Purana provides details of 24 avatars of Vishnu and the beauty is in the chronological order in which they

Though many avatars like Narada, Kapila, Nara, Narayana etc. are not much known to many people I will provide those which many of us know i.e. the Dashavataras.

Remember one thing. wherever any avatars are mentioned they all have been shown as to have taken in this Kalpa....... sveta varaha kalpa.

The first avatar to come down was in the form of Varaha at the beginning of this kalpa to kill Hiranyaksha. Narasimha avatar followed. These could be considered as part of swayambhuva manvantara.

Kurma avatar was taken during ksheera sagara madhana which happened in chakshusha manvantara which is the 6th manvantara.

Matsya avatar happened at the end of chakshusha manvantara during the time of Vaivasvatha manu, son of Surya.

Ikshvaku, the first ruler of Ayodhya is the son of Manu.

Today we are in the 5112th year of the Kaliyuga of the 28th Mahayuga of Vaivasvatha manvantara of Svetha varaha kalpa.

After Matsya avatar Vamana, Parashu rama, Sri Rama and Sri Krishna avatar happened in this Manvantara. Sri Rama is considered to have appeared in the Treta yuga of 24th maha yuga of this manvantara.

Do the math. It will be around 1.9 crore (19 million) years.

Disagreements are welcome. Also dont go into the debate of evolution and evidence of human existence that long back. Our calculations as many other calculations are based on belief and can be established (either way right or wrong) if proper investigations are done. I believe it is true. In any case 14 - 18 lakh years is also impossible as per the evolution evidence. So lets not worry too much about scientific evidence. That will be all together a different topic

yeah it may be 14 -20 lakh years...

But you see there is still Ravans palace in Sri Lanka, Sita ji vatika and some other proofs... Also, Ravan is worshipped in Sri Lanka and its a ritual over there... do you think that such buildings and customs would have existed since 14 lakh years...in that case 7000BC sounds more reasonalbe...
