CILE Editorial and Publication Policy The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) seeks

to provide a forum for rigorous and open-minded academic discourse on Islamic legislation and ethics and more broadly on various issues relevant to the renewal of Islamic thought and culture. The Center adopts a synthetic approach combining between Scriptural texts wahy and contexts or reality (waqi) with the aim of opening up the door wide for Muslims to change themselves and contribute to the contemporary civilization in full confidence and capacity. The Center expects from the contributing authors to submit high quality and innovative academic research that provides (human and Islamic) answers to the pressing issues facing humanity in general and Islamic societies in particular. The Center calls researchers and scholars to submit four kinds of manuscripts: books, essays, articles and reviews. Every submitted manuscript will undergo a peer-review process as outlined below. For each accepted manuscript, financial reimbursement will be assigned and thereby the CILE will preserve the copyright of each published work and may translate it into any language. There is no word limit for the books but the Center prefers to publish one-volume books. The Center also will seriously consider publishing the outstanding M.A. theses and Ph.D. dissertations. Moreover, the center publishes essays, articles and book reviews in its peer-reviewed journal (Journal of Islamic Legislation and Ethics) in addition to its website. The CILE also hosts top-notch researchers to present their papers in annual international conferences, quarterly specialized seminars or public events whenever possible. These papers will constitute a significant part of the CILE publications. Papers and materials submitted for publication must be original, not previously published and not under consideration by any other journal or institution. Language of Writing The Center accepts papers written in English, French and Arabic. You may use American or British spellings throughout, but not a mixture. It is up to the Centers discretion to translate and publish any appropriate material in more than one language. Submission Guidelines 1. The author sends a letter (300-500 words) to explain the main idea of the prospective manuscript and its significance and relevance to the Centers interests. A brief curriculum vitae (max. 500 words) including the authors academic background and a list of published works should also be attached. 2. The center will reply to this letter within one week to indicate whether the proposed material is in principle accepted or specific revisions and modifications are required before embarking upon wiring the final draft of the manuscript. 3. The authors prepare the manuscript in an academic way adhering to the norms of referencing and citation required by the CILE, as outlined below. They send the

final draft to the Center, which will send them a receipt confirmation within three days. The manuscript will be preliminarily examined to decide whether it could be considered for further peer-review and publication. 4. If the manuscript is deemed appropriate, it will be sent out for review by experts in the field and the Center will notify the author. The duration of the peer-review process do vary per referee. 5. Based on the outcome of the peer-review process, a decision will be made to accept the manuscript without further revisions, request revisions and resubmission or decline the paper for publication. 6. After the final acceptance of the manuscript, it will be sent out for copyediting and preparation for publication. Authors will usually be able to review the edits before publication. Finally, authors will be reimbursed as agreed upon. Peer-Review Criteria The center adopts the following criteria to judge the quality of submitted manuscripts: 1. Well-constructed academic approach and consistent documentation. 2. Logical and methodological coherence. 3. The proposed manuscript describes a piece of original research and it makes a new contribution to certain fields of knowledge. 4. The logical and coherent arrangement of information included in the manuscript. 5. Academic integrity and appropriate referencing system by citing all prior research pertinent to the work being presented. 6. High quality of the linguistic and stylistic aspects. 7. Relevance to the interests and objectives of the Center. Reference & Citation Guide The journal adopts the Chicago Manual of Style (14th edition), using author-date system with a bibliography at the end. Explanatory footnotes rather than endnotes are adopted. How to submit a manuscript: To submit a manuscript, (m.shinqiti@gmail.com) please contact Dr. Mohamed El-Moctar
