ting. There are five nude women; two of them are wearing African masks. The woman in the farthest left is holding a curtain that somehow blended with her body. She is also the most tinted and has the most edges. There are fruits in front of them.

The painting Five Prostitutes is a very shocking art. It is unusual to see women expressed in this way. Normally, we see women being artistically drawn in a very passionate way covered or not. Paintings of women somehow made a reputation of showcasing different messages such as innocence, beauty, sadness, solidarity or peacefulness but never vulgarity. However, The Five Prostitutes offered a different point of view to the public. The five women posing in the painting transcends an eerie feeling that they are conscious that people are watching them but still manages to watch their spectators back. However, this theory is only applicable to the three ladies on the left because it is obvious in their razor-sharp stares they are not ashamed even though they are nakedly standing in front of unknown people. Their eyes are alive but you cant decipher the message its sending. We cant tell if she is seducing, judging, inviting or repelling you. On the other hand, the two women on the right side of the painting are wearing masks, so therefore, we cannot make any assumptions whether they are also looking at their audience or not. This might mean that despite their very vulgar positions, they still wanted to remain anonymous. They represent those people who are only courageous when hidden. For example, people in the internet are very vocal and expressive with their feelings. They bash and sometimes bully others in the World Wide Web because they can remain unidentified and untraceable. But still, they can never do these actions in person because they are too afraid of the consequences. Moreover, looking closely in the painting, we can deduct a story going on with these nude ladies. First, the woman on the farthest left is holding back a curtain to reveal the other prostitutes. It can also be observed that the curtain somehow blended with her. Plus, she is the darkest and most cubist among the others. We can say that with this act, she is selling the other prostitutes with her while she is hiding herself. We can also conclude that the curtain camouflaging with her is a metaphor of somehow hiding herself and leaving her unnoticed instead. Also, being the darkest among them signifies her sinister plans and evil intentions. It may also mean that she is the most mysterious and secretive. On the other side of the painting, we can see a woman crouching and spreading her legs open. She seems like seducing people towards her. Widening her legs in that way means that she is very accessible

and open to everyone. It also looks like that she has no intentions of holding back because if so, she would be holding her guards up and would be standing instead. Generally speaking, these women are all prostitutes drawn in a very obscure and abstract way. This shows how distorted, ugly and distasteful their profession is. Prostitution is a cancer of society. They dont just ruin their own lives but also the lives of the others as well. It is not a secret that due to this kind of people, incurable diseases are being spread. Not to mention relationships being ruined, i.e., family, marriage, etc. But however we try, the society cant destroy prostitution at all. There comes in the message of the fruits displayed in front of them. These fruits are baits used by these women to lure men into them. We all know that men have a lot of needs and foods are one of them. The moment they grabbed the opportunity of eating these fruits, it will be too late to refuse dealing with these women face to face due to a close distance. Men would be vulnerable because despite their hunger being satisfied by food, they still have a different kind of hunger only satisfied by flesh. Nevertheless, despite the negative representations portrayed by these women, they also withheld a deep meaning making this work such a very remarkable piece. They mirror all the terrifying and fascinating traits a woman can posses: whore and divine, corrupt and savage, tempting and repelling, awesome and obscene, looming and crouching, masked and naked, threatening and powerless.
