Junior Achievement ROCKS

Attention FOURTH and FIFTH Grade Families Parents, community members, business professionals all welcome to lead topics related to economics, community and businesses and how they relate to our lives. Sound complicated? It's not! It's very easy and lots of fun. Step by step guides help you teach material to kids who love to have you in the classroom with them. FOURTH grade JA is Nov 19 and 26 from 12:10-3:15 p.m. Volunteers still needed for Gardner (Nov 19 only) and Welch. FIFTH grade JA has been postponed. Any new volunteers who have not taught JA will need to take a 1 1/2 hour class in advance. Training sessions are available at the KISD Education Support Complex Room 1030. Sessions available include Nov 13th (9-10:30 a.m.) Also, our sister school, Mayde Creek Elementary will be looking for assistance as needed to teach JA. If available, please share your lives with these kids too! Those interested please send email to ccornell2@comcast.net. PLEASE include your name, child grade, child teacher and if willing to also help in other classrooms and/or our sister school. Still taking requests for Kindergarten and Second grade in the Spring.

DONT be LEFT OUT..ONE More Chance to turn in your 5th Grade Celebration
FORMS & $40 party fee. In order for your child to participate in the 5th Grade off -site Party held at the end of May, we must have your returned party forms by Monday, Nov 11. If you are not planning on attending, (a form is still required) please indicate this on the returned form. The form is needed to: Allow collection of the $40 (party fee & t-shirt) Get a headcount on attendees Order your childs t-shirt (sizes are required) Gives us permission to print your childs name on the shirt (printing of names is only done for
those that grant permission)

STORY TIME STARS

Our Kindergarteners are Rockin It! They have been very busy reading books in order to earn their Creech Rocks tags for their carabineers. We would like to recognize the following students:

Mia Downie from Ms. Warrens class Ryan Gover and Logan Steen from Ms. Tibbs class Juliet Jackson from Ms. Wilberts class Genesis Espinasa from Ms. Weisers class!

These students have received a gold star for completing the 5th level which is equal to reading 100 books! Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

Kindergarten Book Bag Volunteers We are still in need of kindergarten book bag volunteers. We need about 30 minutes of your time every other week to check in bags at the library. Elementary Gifted and Talented Screening

The gifted and talented program in Katy ISD serves elementary students with a one day per week pullout program. If you would like your 1st-4th grade child screened for Challenge for the 2013-2014 school year, please request a parent checklist from the counselors office or front desk beginning November 18. Additionally, these forms are also available online from www.katyisd.org. Look under Departments > Gifted and Talented. Make sure you download both the information page and the elementary checklist. Completed forms must be returned to the counselor or the Challenge teacher, by December 13, 2013 On November 25th @ 7:00 pm, in room 1200 at the Education Support Complex, a parent awareness session will be held for parents of students in grades 1-4 and 6-11 who are interested in screening their child for the GT program. PROMISE TO READ
Creech Elementary will have Promise to Read readers come to all classes Thursday, November 14th. We cant wait to have these special readers come to Creech to share special stories with the students.Volunteers from the community volunteer to read to the students and it is organized through Partners in Education. Every elementary school has this special event every 3 years

BWAAK & ROLL

Katy Visual and Performing Arts will once again present to the students at Creech Elementary, Monday, November 25th. They will be performing BWAK and Roll which is the perfect play for our theme. This presentation is a part of the Books Alive Program and Creech received a grant for $250.00 for this performance. PTA is paying the rest. Thank you PTA! Our students love to see KVPAC plays.
