Bugfix Installation Instructions Run this after installation of Matlab R2013a is complete.

Bug 930632 Summary Error when attempting to Run/Save an opened file in R2013a on Windows systems Description In MATLAB 8.1 (R2013a) on some Windows systems, opening and modifying a MATLAB file in the Editor prevents it from being saved. When you try to run or save the file, MATLAB displays an error message. For example, with a file 'myfile.m' in the current directory: 1. Open the file 'myfile.m' by double clicking itEdit 'myfile.m' in the Editor 2. Try to save the file using: The Save button in the MATLAB Toolstrip 3. The keyboard shortcut, CTRL+SThe 'File->Save' or 'File->Save As' menu commands A dialog pops up with the following message: Error writing myfile.m. C:\temp\myfile.m (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process). This issue only affects some Windows systems. Workaround Installation instructions 1. Log in to an account with appropriate permissions to overwrite files in your MATLAB installation. On Linux systems, this is typically the root account. 2. Locate your MATLAB installation by typing matlabroot at the MATLAB command prompt. This folder is referred to as <MATLAB> in subsequent steps. 3. Exit MATLAB. 4. Download the attached .zip file associated with this Bug Report and store the file in the <MATLAB> folder. 5. Make a backup copy of each of the files listed in the .zip file. To see the contents of the .zip file: o Windows Systems*: Open the .zip file and look at the contents. o Linux/Macintosh Systems: Type the following in a shell (Linux) or in a terminal window (Macintosh): unzip -l <MATLAB>/<.zip file> 6. Extract the files from the .zip file.

Windows Systems*: 1. Open the .zip file. 2. Extract the contents of the file to your <MATLAB> folder. o Linux/Macintosh Systems: Type the following in a shell (Linux) or in a terminal window (Macintosh): cd <MATLAB> unzip <.zip file> 7. Delete the .zip file in the <MATLAB> folder. *Notes for Windows Systems: 1. If you see Error: Access is denied when attempting to extract the .zip file, you may need to start WinZip in administrator mode. Do this by navigating to WinZip.exe or the WinZip Start menu entry, right-clicking on it, and selecting Run as administrator. 2. From within WinZip, find and open the downloaded .zip file. 3.
