A Passion for Christ... Compassion for Others (Isaiah 54:8)

FALL/2013

Here I am Lord... Send Me

As we approach the fall season and head toward the New Year, I would like for you to ask yourself a question: "What have I done this year to make a difference?" You may be wondering, what kind of difference is Pastor Jim talking about?" My answer would be a simple one: What kind of difference have you made this year in your spiritual life and the spiritual life of your family and friends? Have you helped anyone come closer to Christ? Have you lead someone to Christ? Have you told someone about Christ? Have you shared what Christ has done in your life or how He has improved your journey with Him? Have you been bringing the lost home to the Lord? Have you been helping to make disciples for the Kingdom? If your answer to any of these questions is no, then it appears you have missed a major opportunity to be obedient to Christ's calling and commands. The good news is you don't have to stay in this position of disobedience. You can still make a major impact yet in 2013 and get ready for a powerful year of opportunity, blessing and grace for 2014 as well. God is calling our church and congregation to do amazing things in the upcoming years and we will need many people to step forward and help in the 'calling from God'. Many ministry opportunities are available for you right now and others are soon to follow. Will you take advantage of the God-sent opportunities and follow the callings and commands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? Now that is the real question because we cannot do these ministries without you!!! We need everyone's help to fully honor God's callings for us.

The Bible says, "The harvest is great, but the workers are few." You and I together as God's people can change that equation and make a difference not only in our and our families lives, but in the lives of all those we meet. Please don't be afraid or make excuses. Let's roll up our sleeves and get involved. For more information on how you can help in our upcoming ministries, callings and commands, contact Pastor Jim, Linda Alf, JoAnn Krulatz or any church leader. Together we can make 2013 and 2014 the most powerful, spirit-filled ministry years ever at RCFMC. Please pray this prayer with me, "Here I am Lord, send me." Amen and God's blessings to all. In Christ's Holy Name, Pastor Jim

SHEPHERDING...
CARING FOR THE FLOCK
FALL/2013

JESUS SAID, "I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD. I KNOW MY SHEEP AND MY SHEEP KNOW ME." JOHN 10:14
The term 'shepherd' is not a new one in the Christian community, but why are we writing about Shepherding in this newsletter? I'm glad you ask... As our church continues to grow, it's getting more difficult to make sure no one is overlooked or forgotten. This was a problem they also dealt with in Bible times. The story found in Acts 6:1-7 is a good example of this. The disciples were made aware that some of the followers were being neglected, so God called them to "select seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom." We too wanted to insure that no one in our church family gets neglected, so we have selected twelve leaders, that we are calling Shepherd Leaders, with the same qualifications as the seven men in Acts. Each Shepherd Leader will be in charge of 5-6 individuals or families, providing a more personal line of communication. To find out who your Shepherd Leader will be, please attend the kick-off on Sunday, September 26 where you will fellowship together with your Shepherd group, enjoying a delicious pot-luck dinner. Please sign up in the foyer, and write down what dish you would be willing to make and share. .
