Benjamin Franklin: Fact or Fiction?

Author(s): Alexsis Lemons Overall Goal for the Lesson: The overall goal for this lesson is for students to analyze and actively interpret different perspectives of a single character as defined by traits specified to them in both fiction and nonfiction form The students !ill then demonstrate their "no!ledge of this interpretation by presenting to the teacher# through an assigned tas"# a creation of their o!n fictionalized character traits in comparison to the factual traits of a historical character $tudent Ob%ective(s) for the Lesson (Given a condition, the students will, to what level): Given a lesson over the comparisons of factitious and fictionalized character traits# students !ill be able to create their o!n maps conceptualizing a historical figure&s character traits# both fact and fictitious# !ith both creativity and accuracy Assessments: (Make sure each objective is paired to an assessment measure that allows students to show they met the criteria). Accommodations: (#ow mi ht the lesson need to be adapted for students with special needs$) 9f any students need accommodation they !ill be given more time to complete the assignment# if necessary $ince the lesson and assessment are both non<physically taxing# accommodations for physically disabled students is less necessary 9f a student has difficulties !ith !riting on the computer they are able to go to the school computer lab and utilize technology aides that can help them to type up their assessment App to be used for lesson (if applicable): The teacher !ill utilize the smart board to sho! her o!n comparative concept map so that students have a visual of the assignment they are to complete To ta"e do!n notes and to brainstorm ideas# the students !ill use the note ta"ing app# (otability that is installed on the classroom set of ipads $tudents !ill be able to brainstorm in groups# yet still create their o!n tabs (ie# note) for ideas for themselves .aterials (eeded: Go throu h each activity and identify what items (both technolo y and not) are needed to complete this lesson. %nclude a breakdown accordin to individual student or student roups. %nclude materials that need to be created as well. To complete this lesson 9 !ill need my o!n personal materials and a smartboard to pro%ect the lesson to the students $tudents !ill need the classroom set of ipads# and any personal !riting apparatus for their o!n use !hen group and individual note ta"ing .aterials that need to be created for assessment are individual concept maps# one by each student (The concept maps are blan" and provided by the teacher for the students to fill in !ith their o!n ideas# students are allo!ed to use these provided maps# expand on them# or create their o!n# more suitable map )
