Hensel English III 19 November 2013 Robots in the Automotive Industry If you drive a automobile that was constructed any time after the year 1990 then some part of that automobile was constructed directly and completely by a robot in the automotive industry. Every year more and more robots are being deposited into the automotive industry to assist with the production of automotive vehicles. People have to relearn most of the materials that they learned previously, because of the many advances in automotive technology. Many technicians are being steered away from automotive maintenance and being told to go and learn how to run the robots that create automobiles. Robots in the automotive industry give technicians careers, and encompass the technicians training and experience. The people go to special classes to get trained to use the new technology in the machines that are becoming more abundant in the automotive industry. According to FANUC there are twenty different training courses. Training consists of mathematics, physics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics (Education Portal). Along with these classes and training courses mechanics are getting hands on experience, which is more useful than anything that you could learn in a classroom. On average you get 32 hours of handling/tool operation and programming is offered in training classes (Michigan Tech). Teachers can get knowledge

skills to help their students grasp the essentials of radio science, basic electronics, robotics, space and satellite communication technology, and of course amateur radio (ARRL). There has to be people to build and repair the robots. There are many jobs created by robots in the automotive industry; millions of jobs are expected to be directly created by increased use of robotics (International Federation of Robotics). Robots are really important because they speed up production; Amid showers of sparks, articulated mechanical arms nearly the size of telephone poles move sections of partially built vehicles so scarily fast that anyone who accidentally ends up in the wrong place is as good as dead (The Economist). When things on the production line are moving that fast there is a major increase of the amount of vehicles produced each day. There have to be people to run and operate the robots. Many people have to operate the robots they are called machinist thats also known as their job title (The Economist). Sometimes there is more than one person at a time working with any one robot. Because of the multiple things that a robot can do there has to be more than one operator. There are many jobs and opportunities given to technicians around the world now that robots are becoming more and more abundant in the automotive industry. There are millions of jobs being made available to technicians just because robots are being created and need people to run them. There are many opportunities coming to the surface for technicians to extend their training and broaden their horizons in the automotive industry.
