! Its Alive! !

Creativity encompasses multiple facets ranging from philosophy, education, technology, economics, business, arts and music, and a host of sciences; thus, a denition cannot exist which would include the mentioned disciplines. Creativity, to be attempted to be understood for such a word bears so much that one cannot entirely fathom, it must be dissected from its lexicon derivations. To create would be such a phrase that could be extracted. However, this does not fully dene or even attempt to dene what the true nature of creativity is. Therefore, to reinforce our understanding of such an abstraction, Polit and Beck (2008) ties it with how one thinks, that creativity is demonstrated through innovative approaches to collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. The ability to think and the conscientious use of thought - intelligence, it seems, paves an avenue for one to be creative. Cuyno (1997) supports this by stating that creativity does not come to an unprepared mind or in a vacuum. What goes on in the intricate wirings of neurons produces imagination and creative mental images as a synergism of stimuli such as previous experiences and thoughts, environment, and necessity.!

Another attribute that creativity bears is that of novelty and change. Whatever, may it be an item such as a commodity, a device, an object, or simply an idea that can be improved or enhanced will be a result of creativity. With innovation as the outlet of creative energy, especially in the eld of technology, innovation will better what is current. With or without creativity translates to life as it is or life as it could be. Furthermore, the presence of creativity defeats the stagnation of human living and allows for dynamism. In this context, creativity and innovation are viewed as tools that help people. !

Having a difcult time to relay an example of creativity (for there are numerous), I turn to on the telly and nd myself hungry as I was watching Nigella Lawson create another gastronomical masterpiece and she makes it look easy. It was epiphanic that Lawsons kitchen became the substance to show an example. In cooking, the chef will piece together a dish from a multitude of selected ingredients. With a display of culinary martial arts - cutting and slicing, and not entirely pyrotechnical but close enough, heat is added to the mix to produce a saliva-secreting mound of meat, sh, and vegetation. Creativity, in this light shows that it is the ability to create and such a creation satises human needs.! -----! Creativity, with its spontaneity is still manageable. A chaotic genius is genius, nonetheless. To put into order the impetuous nature of creativity is a true challenge but as creativity is rooted in the creative person, it is therefore implied that in order to manage it, one must manage the source - the person. Management, as what has been discussed in the antecedent chapters of the fora, seeks to organize the most valuable component of an organization - the human resources. ! Furthermore, creativity will be the backbone of any enterprise, without it, the organization will falter and extinguish. This raises the need for creativity in management in order for management to survive. The theme that management theorists has been subtly delivering is change in how organizations manage themselves. Moving from the timeline, we have seen a myriad of theories that have evolved over time and will still change as the need arises. The characteristic of novelty and change is inherent in creativity. If I were to use a mounted Venn diagram to illustrate my point, the merged or overlapped area between the spheres of management and change (as a concept) would be creativity in that it is embedded in both. !

Creativity, even as broad as what I have known it to be is still manageable. Managing creativity can be directed to the creator and the created. First, in order to properly manage and facilitate creativity in a person, he must be given leg room to bat out ideas. As mentioned earlier, proper stimulation of the already informed mind with an environment encouraging to percolate ideas must be put into place. The creative mind must be nestled somewhere it can draw inspiration from and where it can work without interruption. Allowing the imagination to run wild explores what could be and pushes the impossible further back.!

Likewise, the creative mind must be given a reason on why the new is favored and the status quo, obsolete - the purpose will direct and mold the idea into what it should be and to what end. The creator will have to think about the aspects of necessity and benecence. The ramications of such creations and innovations must be understood especially if we are to consider the economics of production. Given limited resources, anything that is to be mass-produced must be compared to cost-effectiveness standards.
