Why Did Jesus Christ Pray?

This question is asked time and again by the truth seekers, as well as skeptics. Is there anything wrong with prayer? No, according to the holy Bible prayer is address to the most High God. I prayer is made according to the will o the true God o the uni!erse, there is nothing wrong with that "#ee $%ohn &'$(). I it is so, what is especial about %esus* prayer? The detail o the question will show us the moti!e. The question goes, +I %esus ,hrist were that one true God in the lesh, why and to whom did he pray?To get a clear biblical answer to this question, there is one basic question that should precede this one. #ince the Bible declares !ery clearly that there is only one true God, as .eut. /'( is quoted in the New Testament in 0ark $1'12341 saying, +5The irst o all the commandments is, Hear, 6 Israel7 The 8ord our God is one 8ord5there is one God7 and there is none other but he.- 9nd in $Tim 4'$/ also says, +5without contro!ersy great is the mystery o godliness' God was mani est in the lesh5- "see also ,ol. 1':) and this God came with the sa!ing name called %esus "0att. $'1$31&). This undeniable truth is the cornerstone o the ,hristian aith. I we agree on oregoing lucid act o the Bible, then the most important and grandest question that should be asked is' +;hat was the intention o God to be mani ested in the lesh?- This is the question that must be asked be ore we ask the question which says, +why did %esus, who is God in the lesh, pray?- or +to whom was He praying to?The reason o God*s mani estation in the lesh was e<pressed through the prophets o the 6ld Testament. =or instance Isaiah declares, +>ea, truth aileth7 and he that departeth rom e!il maketh himsel a prey' and the 8ord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no ?udgment. 9nd he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor5- "Isa. &:'$&3$/). 9ccording to this word o God, there were things that were lacked as a result which displeased the ,reator o the uni!erse namely, a man o Truth, who is @ighteous, who can be a right %udge and an Intercessor. That is why God saw and was amaAed because there was no one to inter!ene between God and man who could intercede or the lost. #o an ultimate di!ine solution was a must. The ultimate .i!ine solution' is already pointed out ?ust ne<t to the grie!ous lack o spiritual qualities. The way out is mentioned in !erses $/ and $B saying - 5there ore his arm brought sal!ation unto him7 and his righteousness, it sustained him. =or he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet o sal!ation upon his head7 and he put on the garments o !engeance or clothing, and was clad with Aeal as a cloke.- 9s we ha!e seen it ob!iously or all these abo!e problems the only solution is God himsel . That is why he declared in Isa /4'& saying, +5I looked, and there was none to help7 and I wondered that there was none to uphold' there ore mine own arm brought sal!ation unto me7 and my ury, it upheld me.- In a nutshell +God was mani est in the lesh- "$Tim. 4'$/) to be the needed truth, the right ?udge, and the per ect intercessor. There was no Truth C He became the truth "%ohn $'$(7 $('/7 $2'4B) There was no @ighteousness C He became our righteousness "@om. 4'1$,1/) There was no %udge He Himsel became the right ?udge "see Isa. &$'&7 %ohn &'1B7 %ames ('$17 Heb. $1'14)

There was no Intercessor C God himsel became as an intercessor. By the ;ay what does an intercessor mean? 9n intercessor is one who intercedes. To intercede means to plead, pray or speak or somebody or mediate in dispute. ;hen the Bible says that God became an intercessor that mean he became a mediator "Gal. 4'1F). That is why he did pray5 %eremiah &F'4( +Their @edeemer is strong7 the 8ord o hosts is his name' he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may gi!e rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants o Babylon.-#o God himsel is the one who plead our causes. #o God himsel became an intercessor as a high priest. Gechariah prophesied on related message saying, +5he shall build the temple o the 8ord5 he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne7 and he shall be a priest upon his throne5- "Gech. /'$4). 1. Jesus prayed to fulfill all righteousness (Matt. 3:14-1 ! and "o #e a perfe$t role %odel In 0atthew 4'$& we read %esus saying to %ohn the Baptist, +5#u er it to be so now' or thus it becometh us to ul il all righteousness. Then he su ered him.- Now what is the distinction o %esus* baptism rom the rest o the people? 9ll the people were baptiAed, con essing their sins "0att. 4'/7 0ark $'&) because they were sinners but ,hrist is holy and per ect "8uke $'4&) C He is +the Holy 6ne o God- "8uke ('4(). +=or such an high priest became us, who is holy, har%less, undefiled, separate fro% sinners, and made higher than the hea&ens- "Heb. B'1/). Though He is separate rom sinners, He was baptiAed with the same baptism that the people were baptiAed with. The apostle Daul e<plained the baptism o %ohn to the Ephesians, +Then said Daul, %ohn !erily baptiAed with the #aptis% of repentan$e, saying unto the people, that they should belie!e on him which should come a ter him, that is, on ,hrist %esus- "9cts $:'(). Ha!e you got the point here? ,hrist was not baptiAed to belie!e in ,hrist since He Himsel is that ,hrist but ?ust to ul ill all righteousness. 8ikewise He prayed not to get help rom a higher being because He Himsel is that being but he prayed to ul ill all righteousness. The bottom line is that He didn*t need to be baptiAed or the remission o sins as the race o 9dam or pray to get help as helpless creature but to ul ill all righteousness. He is the number one role model o ,hristianity. '. Jesus prayed #e$ause (e $a%e as a (igh priest.
