More than sixteen (16) years of experience in the areas of Engineering,


Procurement and Construction (EPC) (in the petrochemicals & refineries industry) and business process
management industry, in leading organizations including Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Technip and Genpact.
Work experience has been in a big company and big projects environment. Have handled

1. During the course of strategic sourcing & procurement of critical equipment for MG3 Lube Oil project
of Petronas Melaka (Malaysia) refinery, Naphtha Cracker Project of Indian Oil Panipat and SRU project
of Indian Oil Baroda effected cost savings of about USD 2.90 million by way of new vendor
development, spend analysis, scope optimization, tracking of commodity prices and negotiations with
suppliers, both during execution/ proposal phases of the project. For the PTA Project of Indian Oil
Panipat, effected cost savings of USD 2.80 million through foreign exchange risk management; cost
savings of USD 1.6 million effected through vendor negotiations and tracking of commodity prices.
These cost savings came from procuring high value critical capital equipment and services including
process air compressors, detailed engineering services, switchgear, transformers, blowers etc.
2. Successfully negotiated and managed various high value supply and service Contracts with
both domestic and international (Japanese, European, American and Malaysian) suppliers for
various turnkey Projects, these Contracts totaling around USD 165 million. All these Contracts
were finalized/ managed keeping in view the project schedule requirements.
3. Part of the core team that was instrumental in successfully executing procurement of 4 high
value turnkey projects on the SAP ERP Materials Management (MM) platform, including
suggesting and effecting improvements in the MM module on a continual basis.
4. At Technip, as the lead for the vendor post-order management team for the HPCL HGU Project,
successfully managed procurement of approx. USD 55 million, including high value critical
equipment like compressors, centrifugal pumps, centrifugal fans, air pre-heaters, process gas boiler,
control valves etc.
5. At Genpact, instrumental in developing the direct sourcing and engineering services practices,
leading to putting together a bid to GE-Transportation and eventually getting short-listed by GE for a
direct sourcing project involving a spend of USD 40 million on C parts.
6. Developed and trained the rotating equipment sourcing team at the L&T-Vadodara work
centre and the post-order management team at Technip-New Delhi.
7. As part of the core estimation team, contributed to the Petrochemicals SBU bagging the IOCL
Panipat Naphtha Cracker Project by way of cost estimation and spend analysis of critical
equipment, negotiations for consortium agreement as also for high value Furnace package,
preparation of overall project cost estimates and Client Contract review.
8. Part of the core team that successfully concluded the agreement with L&Ts consortium
partner, on the split-scope of work and execution philosophy pertaining to Procurement, for the
approximately USD 1100 million ONGC Dahej petrochemical project.
9. Part of the team that put together the bids for and bagged the refinery projects of Indian Oil
Digboi and Takreer (Abu Dhabi) SRU, in the face of stiff international competition.
10. Shared learnings for various Projects, the learnings for Indian Oil PTA Project bagging the top
award in the knowledge management competition of the business division. Developed the structure for
Procurement Community of Practice (CoP), L&T-Baroda as part of business division's knowledge
management initiative. Part of the core team that formulated the Standard Operating Procedures
(SOPs) for the Procurement Capability Centre.

Awards/ Honours:
1. In 2002, included in the Top Talent scheme of Larsen & Toubro through the Management
Leadership Programme (MLP): This honour was recognition of consistent performance on the job and
symbolized company managements faith to contribute and deliver in a manner befitting inclusion in the
companys prestigious Top Talent scheme.
2. International Project Management Association (Switzerland) Level D Professional, 2006: As per
Project Management Associates (PMA), this demonstrates an individual's competence in managing
projects.
3. Gyan Ratna (top position) at the KnowNet (Knowledge Management) Competition of L&T
E&C Division, in 2003: Member of the Project team that won the top award. As part of the PTA Project

of IOCL (Panipat Refinery), the procurement learnings primarily pertained to: a) foreign exchange
management and b) contracting structures with vendors and served as useful inputs for future projects.
4. Title of Pradhyapak (Trainer) for Capability & Leadership Development (CALD) programme,
in 2006: Based on the domain knowledge acquired over the years in various domain areas of project
management, the company awarded this title.

Responsibilities:
1. As part of the Project Procurement Centre for Hydrocarbon Mid and Downstream business of E&C
Division of L&T, headed the category sourcing, procurement and vendor management of rotating
equipment and packages at Vadodara work centre. Major projects handled include: a) MG3 Lube Oil
Project of Petronas at Melaka Refinery (Malaysia) b) Naphtha Cracker Project of Indian Oil Panipat
Refinery and c) IOCL Vadodara Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU), procurement platform being SAP
ERP.
At Technip, leading the vendor post-order management team for IOCL Mathura FCCU Revamp Project,
presently managing procurement of approx. USD 110 million.
2. Project Procurement Manager (Designate) for Dual Feed Cracker petrochemical project of
ONGC Dahej (Gujarat), with L&T procurement content of about USD 325 million . As part of the
core team, involved in negotiations with L&Ts consortium partner in the project, on split scope of work
and execution philosophy. Also, involved in cost estimation and vendor negotiations for sourcing of
critical equipment.
3. Part of the core team that worked on: a) defining roles and responsibilities within the
Procurement Capability Centre and b) development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
At Technip, responsible for instituitionalizing the sourcing platform Key to Procure (K2P) at Delhi
operating centre.
4. As part of the Sourcing & Procurement team of Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) project of Indian Oil
Panipat Refinery, responsible for: a) Contract negotiation and management for select critical and
high value packages in the project and b) Managing the foreign exchange risk (USD equivalent
83 million) of sourcing.
5. For the Naphtha Cracker petrochemical project of Indian Oil Panipat refinery (L&T portion USD 200
million):
a) Cost estimation and spend analysis of rotating equipment and preparation of overall project
cost estimates, factoring the tax structure b) Review of contract terms with Indian Oil.
6. Business development including pre-qualification, contract structuring/ negotiations, pricing,
proposal writing, risk assessment & management and tax analysis of domestic (Indian Oil, Bharat
Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum) and international (Takreer- Abu Dhabi, Oman and Cyprus)
refinery projects. Refinery sector analysis to map the business scenario and then prepare a strategic
plan for the Refinery business group as part of L&Ts Project Blue-chip Exercise along with Boston
Consulting Group (BCG).

Additional Information:
International Exposure:
1. Deputed by L&T to a) Japan in Dec. 2006 and b) to Germany and The Netherlands in Oct. 2007 for:
a) Exploring possible tie-ups with suppliers of critical equipment and b) Negotiating & expediting orders
for critical equipment, for refinery and petrochemical projects.
2. As part of the international module of the MBA program of IIM Lucknow, I was at McGill University in
Montreal (Canada) for 1 month. The module included courses in Strategy and International Finance.
As part of self-improvement efforts/ interests, some of the seminars & training programs/ events
attended are: a) Confluence, at IIM Ahmedabad b) People Management and c) Capability &
Leadership Development, at L&T d) Project Management seminar of PMA and e) Economic Times
Brand Equity quiz contest (2001, 2002, 2006 and 2008).
