SituatedduringtheearlyMeijiperiodinJapan,thestorytellsofa fictionalassassinnamedKenshinHimura,whobecomesawandererto protectthepeopleofJapan. TheserieswaslicensedforbroadcastandhomevideoreleaseinNorth AmericabyMediaBlasters,whosplititupinto"seasons".Theyreferto theirEnglishdubofthefirst27episodesasseasonone.Thesewereaired onCartoonNetwork'sToonamiprogrammingblockfromMarch17, 2003,throughApril22,2003.[1]MediaBlastersreleasedthisseason withinsixDVDsoftheanime,eachcontainingfourepisodes,fromJuly 25,2000,toMay1,2001.[2][3]ADVDcompilationofseason1was releasedonNovember15,2005.
