courtship process is good and right. Instead slipping into negative courtship. It would be very damaging and harmful to the students who are physically not arrived yet. They usually like to dress up, often out of date, often using communication tools, and others. This could lead to teenagers being lazy learning because it is more like dating. But in some cases it can also improve morale dating teens learn. They can encourage each other to learn, even teenagers are rarely studied together with his girlfriend. Courtship experienced by almost all teenagers including Astra Manufacturing Polytechnic students who average between 18 and 21 years old. From the above background the authors are interested in the theme of courtship influence on student achievement Astra Manufacturing

Polytechnic.

1.4 Purpose of Research

The purpose of this paper is to make the author : 1. To know the positive impact of courtship 2. To know the negative impact courtship 3. To find out how to overcome the negative impact of courtship

The benefits of writing this paper is that teens can learn the positive and negative effects of courtship, so that they can minimize the negative impacts that do not interfere with learning activities.

CHAPTER II LITERATURE REVIEW

2.1 Definition of Courtship

According DeGenova & Rice (2005) definition is going to run a relationship where two people meet and conduct a series of joint activities in order to get to know each other. According to Bowman (1978) dating is fun activity between a man and a woman who are not married, where it will be the primary basis to provide mutual influence to further relations before marriage in America. Benokraitis (1996) adds that courtship is a process where a person meets with the other person in a social context that aims to explore the possibility of whether or not the person is suitable as a mate. According to Saxton (in Bowman, 1978), dating is an event that has been planned and include a variety of joint activities between the two people (usually done by young people and unmarried opposite sex). Kyns (1989) adds that courtship is a relationship between two people of the opposite sex and they have an emotional attachment, which is based relationship because of certain feelings in their hearts. According to Reiss (in Duvall & Miller, 1985) dating is a relationship between a man and a woman who colored intimacy. According to Papalia, Olds & Feldman (2004), intimacy includes a sense of ownership. Openness to disclose

important information about the self to others (self-disclosure) to be the main element of intimacy. Based on the above statements, it can be concluded sense courtship is marked by a series of joint activities intimacy (such as a sense of ownership and self-disclosure) and the emotional attachment between a man and a woman who are not married in order to know each other and see the fit between each other as consideration before marriage.

2.2 Definition of Learning Achievement

Achievement is the result of someone who has achieved in doing activities. Gagne (1985) states that learning achievement can be divided into five aspects: intellectual skills, cognitive strategies, verbal information, attitudes and skills. According to Bloom in Suharsimi Arikunto (1990) that the learning outcomes can be divided into three aspects: cognitive, affective and psychomotor.

CHAPTER III METHODOLOGY

3.1 Identify the Problem

Identify the problem or issue is the introduction of Inventory problem. Identify the problem is one of the research process arguably the most important among other processes. Research problem will determine the quality of the research, even determining whether an activity can be called research or not. Research problem in general can be found through the study of literature or through field observations (observation, surveys, etc.). Problems that will be identified by the authors in this paper include : 1. The positive and negative impact on student achievement courtship Astra Manufacturing Polytechnic. 2. How to overcome the negative impact of courtship.

3.2 Method of Data Collection

In this study the authors used data collection methods include : 1. Observation

Observation is the systematic observation and recording of the elements that appear in a symptom or symptoms in the object of research. observations made prior to the interviews and questionnaires. 2. Questionnaires Questionnaire or the questionnaire is a data collection technique indirectly (indirect researcher asked the respondents answered). Authors distributed questionnaires contained a number of questions that must be answered by the respondents.

3.3 Research Sites

What's that I use for research of this paper is on Astra Manufacturing Polytechnic.

3.4 Object Research

In this study the authors object sampled from Astra Manufacturing Polytechnic students. So our research developed from the answers given by Astra Manufacturing Polytechnic students.

3.5 Data Collection Techniques

Qualitative data is data that collected by means of a process that saw the object of research. Such data over see the process rather than the result

because it is based on the description of the process and not on mathematical calculations.

CHAPTER IV DISCUSSION

The author has made observations by distributing questionnaires to 33 students Astra Manufacturing Polytechnic.

Observation and questionnaire that has been done, among others:

4.1 The presumption Teens About Dating

Most respondents have a girlfriend. It can be seen from the above diagram that shows 55% of respondents answered that they have a girlfriend.

13

From the diagram above it can be concluded that most of the Astra Manufacturing Polytechnic students assume that dating is not important. You could say they think it is not important courtship because the students thought that going to affect student achievement. This can be seen in the diagram above survey results, 76% of respondents answered that courtship affects their academic achievement.

14

4.2 Positive Impact of Courtship

No. Jawaban 1 2 Ya Tidak

Rata rata IP 3.18 3.17

From the diagram above it can be said that the respondent admits that dating can spark their enthusiasm for learning. It is evident from the 33 students, 24 of them said that dating can trigger their enthusiasm for learning. Other evidence can be seen in the table above. Respondents who answered that dating could spark enthusiasm for learning they have a higher GPA than to say no. So this is one of the positive impact of courtship.

15

4.3 Negative Impact of courtship

No. Jawaban 1 2 Ya Tidak

Rata rata IP 3.07 3.32

From the diagram and table above it can be concluded that the respondents who had a girlfriend had an average grade point values are lower than those who did not have a boyfriend.

No. Jawaban 1 2 Ya Tidak

Rata rata IP 3.11 3.22

From the diagram and table above it can be said that the respondents who considered it not important courtship had an average grade point value higher than the respondents who said that the courtship was important. Of both the data above shows the negative impact of courtship. Student who has a girlfriend and considers that it is important courtship had an

16

average GPA score lower than those who did not have a boyfriend and dating it considered unimportant.

4.4 How to Tackle Negative Impact of Courtship

From the explanation above shows the impact of courting both negative and positive impacts impacts. For some students courtship is considered important because it is useful to trigger their enthusiasm for learning. They can encourage each other even in some cases many students vying to get better grades with her boyfriend. If this condition is like going to a positive impact on students. But the above data also showed that students who had a girlfriend had an average GPA score lower than students who do not have a boyfriend. Some students who are in love usually will be more focused on courtship than learning. They're too cool to forget about dating other more important things like learning. This is the impact of a courtship which should be avoided. We may have a girlfriend as long as it does not interfere with our academic achievement. To avoid the negative effects of courtship we should always give priority to learning. We can do this in various ways. For example, before the start of our relationship with our partner can commit the time to lecture professionalism and courtship. When in college, focus on

17

college, beyond the new thing we're talking about a personal relationship with a girlfriend.

18

CHAPTER V CLOSING

5.1 Conclusion
Of all the explanations can be concluded that dating among students have positive and negative effects. Positive impact, by courting students have a passion for learning. They can direct their relationships to improve performance. While damooak negative, may result in a student going to forget all the things that are actually more important than dating. They prefer a date with his girlfriend rather than learning. This is something that should be avoided.

5.2 Suggestions
Author to reader suggestions : 1. Courtship is allowed but should not interfere with our learning activities. 2. Prioritizing learning rather than going out. 3. We should be able to divide the time when, as we learn and when the time for courtship. 4. Use going to spark enthusiasm for learning, such as boyfriend invited us to race to get better grades.
