Operational Accountant - EPN Finance Manager: EPN Crawley (with time required in other locations) Network Ops Finance, Finance 5230 Permanent Personal 40k - 50k

Responsible for assisting in ensuring there is accurate and timely financial reporting within Network Operations EPN and the Network Operations directorate as a whole. This includes ensuring that the direct costs have been categorised correctly in accordance with the Regulatory guidelines and driving improved business performance. To ensure key financial controls operate effectively and consistently across EPN. To manage the maintenance of robust balance sheets for Network Operations. Principal Accountabilities: 1. Provide clear & insightful accurate management information to enable the EPN Senior Managers to drive significant improvements in operational, service quality, and financial performance including the preparation of the East monthly Performance Report and contributing to the consolidated Network Operations Performance Report. 2. Drive best in class improvements to the process of producing monthly unit cost reports, actively participate in the process of continuous improvement regarding costs and achievement and to participate in cross DNO and Region reviews to compare unit costs, understand the reasons for variances and work with the business to improve efficiency 3. To participate with the preparation of Budgets, Medium Term Plans and Forecasts as agreed with the Commercial Finance Manager, Finance Manager: EPN and the Financial Planning Manager. 4. Identify opportunities and areas for attention & recommend options for action including areas of cost reduction, best practice governance and controls, best practice productivity of people and assets and excellent strategic prioritisation of expenses in EPN and across the other DNOs. 5. Embed robust financial governance around the appraisal and implementation of any new initiatives or financial processes within EPN as agreed with the Commercial Finance Manager and the Head of Network Operations Finance. 6. Provide coaching for less experienced members of the team and ensure direct reports get correct level of CPD training in year, whether on-job or via training courses or other areas such as mentoring.

7. To participate with the preparation of Regulatory Accounts and supporting tables as agreed with the Regulatory Finance Manager and the RIGs Reporting Manager. 8. Look for continuous improvements to processes within Network operations Finance and co-ordinate implementation of these with the Commercial Finance Manager. 9. Assist with building, managing and motivating the departmental team and promote cross working with other teams within the Finance Directorate. 10. Liaise with the business to ensure data integrity through reconciling volume data with cost data and ensuring costs are correctly assigned in line with both financial and regulatory requirements. 11. Manage the implementation and maintenance of effective financial controls across Network Operations EPN and Network Operations and ensure they operate effectively. 12. Responsible for mid-month forecasting for Network Operations. Nature and Scope: This is a professional role which includes liaising throughout the business, communicating with Senior Managers and non financial managers. You will be expected to have excellent communication skills and a professional attitude to work and those you deal with. This position is part of the Network Operations finance team supporting the activities of the whole of Network Operations, with a particular interest in EPN. The post will be based at Crawley and report to the Finance Manager - EPN. However, the role will involve visits to other locations. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience: Track record of delivering results and challenging the norm High integrity Enjoys an environment which has fast pace & high rate of change Qualified accountant with 3 years + PQE A current driving licence, with access to a car and the ability to work flexibly throughout the year are essential Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels Highly numerate with a strong commercial aptitude Ability to work effectively & proactively on own initiative and autonomously, without close supervision Ability to plan, project manage and delegate effectively Energetic and resilient personality
