Name Professor Influence of Osama Bin Ladens Death June 2011 The Death of Osama Bin Laden It should be noted that practically every person is significant in the contemporary society. Especially it concerns politicians, sportsmen, men of letters, artists and those people, who threaten our life. Today we hear a lot of information about the last category of people terrorists. Society is interested in both their life and death. For instance, the death of Osama Bin Laden has influenced the planet greatly. On the one hand, people were sure that his death meant the end of terrorism. On the other hand, there were ones believing that the death of one person cannot stop wars and violence. So, Osamas death gave rise to a great number of various debate concerning terrorism, its causes and effect. Moreover, there is a point of view that his death is closely interconnected with increases in prices. In any case, the influence of Osamas death is evident. In fact, it became a breakthrough in the whole understanding of terrorism and its roots. Osamas death raise such a question: Did his death become the end of other terrorists and terroristic groupings? It turned out that no. The problem of terrorism and conflicts all over the world is much deeper than it seems at first sight. People just do not appreciate piece and respect towards other nations and countries. That is why terrorism should be treated as the matter of morality, not the problem of a concrete person. This conclusion was made due to Bin Ladens death. The terrorism still exists, although there is no Osama any more. Another influence of Osamas death is its contribution to the rise of the presidents rating and popularity. After Bin Ladens death a lot of Americans displayed respect towards

the president. People remember that Obama promised to oppose terrorism and stop it. The death of Osama is frequently treated as the end of terrorism. This fact influenced the growing respect towards the president Obama. Americans emphasized that the president they had elected some time ago, kept his promise concerning terrorists. Actually, he did what he said he would do. It should be taken into consideration that Americans are eager to vote and support politicians who keep in mind all their campaign promises. For instance, Bush said in his 2000 campaign that: 1) He would reverse the trend of 43 million uninsured Americans (in reality the number of uninsured Americans became more by nearly four million by 2004, and premiums rose at a rate of 12.5 % per year) 2) Bush promised to establish the Healthy Communities Innovation Fund to provide $500 million in grants to plan and handle health risks (it was not established) 3) Bush claimed that he would ensure that the federal government, the countrys largest polluter complies with all environmental laws (the Department of Defense requested and received exemption from compliance with environmental laws). 1 It is necessary to stress that the list of such broken promises is rather impressive. It includes the following points: 1) higher education 2) welfare 3) energy 4) judicial appointments 5) nuclear proliferation.

Practically no promise from the above-mentioned list was completed by Bush. That is why Americans saw a powerful president in the face of Obama. The death of Bin Laden gave them hope that they had found and elected the right person to rule the country. The president seems to keep his promises. Another influence of Osamas death was its impact on the market. As for the Japanese market that is represented by the Nikkei 225, it immediately lost 145 points (that is approximately 1.5%). According to the information presented by the news and Internet, above 10,000 were abolished for the first time since the March 11th earthquake. However, after a week to digest the news, the US markets have not followed suit.2 Bin Laden was not new in moving markets. As the initiator of the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, he was responsible for the shutdown of the New York Stock Exchange that influenced the work of the market. It is logical that every terrorist attack affects human life and trade; that is why Osamas death means less financial loss for people. It is necessary to stress that Bin Ladens death t ouched practically every sphere of human life. It influenced even culture and cinematography. According to some screenwriters words, they wasted a lot of time because of the terrorists death. There were several expensive projects with the aim to demonstrate the action-heroesque raid that would be made by Seal Team 6 undertook in order to kill Osama Bin Laden. Such screenwriters as Mark Boal and director Kathryn Bigelow had already been working together on a movie describing the hunt for Bin Laden. This was made on the basis of the book with the title Kill Bin Laden. According to the information given by LA Times, the movies contest and a great number of facts presented in it have to be changed because of Osamas death.

It is believed that the major purpose of al Queda and its leader Osama Bin Laden was to injure American economy. In 2004, Osama stated that he was eager to bleed the economy of the United States of America dry. The attack that took place on the September 11 cost USA about $500,000. Much more money was spent after the attack to restore everything that was ruined by Osama Bin Laden. These facts prove that really Osama was eager to make things worse for American security and economy. So, his death is somehow a guarantee of economical stability and its freedom from terrorist attacks. It is necessary to emphasize that very shortly after the news of Bin Ladens death, the United States stocks became much more higher. At the same time the price of crude oil became lower. However, in some time this was changed. So, there are still some considerable changes in economy, market and prices. The majority of people still do not know how to react to Osamas death. In fact, American society is divided into several groups due to the attitude to the terrorists death and its influence upon the country. This division is the following: 1) Group one: people are believing that Osamas death will give rise to new terrorist attacks made in order to take revenge of the leaders murder; 2) Group two: people are sure that Osamas death is a starting point for a new life without conflicts and terrorist intrusions; 3) Group three: there are citizens that are neutral; they do not comment Osama Bin Ladens death. They are afraid of uttering their own opinion and do not know how to react. Warren Buffet (chairman of Berkshire Hathaway) stated that Osamas death will not reduce risk to the insurance industry neither will it affect the United States economy much at all. So, attitude towards the fact under consideration is different. There seem to be no golden mean concerning Osamas death and its influence upon American society. Some people are

sure that costs associated with terrorism and Osama Bin Ladens death will never end and keep going despite the death of the major terrorist. So, it is necessary to stress that there are several important consequences of Osamas death: The rating of the president Obama became higher; as Osamas death had contributed to his popularity greatly The prices at the market are affected. They became higher There is the thread that other terrorists will be eager to take revenge of their leaders death Al Queda did not stop to exist American society is divided into several groups; there is no unity any more Culture and cinematography are affected by Osama Bin Ladens death There is no guarantee of security due to Osamas death The relations with the countries of Middle East did not become better. They still are rather tense Osama Bin Ladens death did not become the guarantee for peace and security The terrorists death demonstrates that conflicts are not the problem of one person. They are global and cannot be solved due to someones death Bin Ladens death led to many political problems It became the theme for numerous debates and demonstrated that the problem of terrorism still exists and should be taken as seriously as possible. So, it is evident that Osama Bin Ladens death is as significant as his life. Perhaps, Osamas murder does not guarantee the deliverance of terrorism, but it motivates people take terrorism seriously.
