ast Octobers missionary age announcement was the rst of many changes in missionary work that have significantly affected Church history this past year. One year ago, President Thomas S. Monson, during the Saturday morning session of General Conference, announced that 18-year-old males and 19-year-old females were eligible for full-time missionary service. Since then, missionary service has swelled as thousands more young people have accepted the call to serve. There are currently more than 75,000 missionaries serving around the world, an increase of more than 17,000 in just one year. Ella Briggs, a freshman from Holladay, was a senior in high school when the world heard the news. The biggest change is in peoples attitudes, Briggs said. Everyone is preparing for a mission whether or not they are going to serve one. It was really evident in high school. St udent s were a lways m a ki ng See MIssIONARY on Page 3
