Entry requirements Normally a second class honours degree or above in any discipline, or an acceptable equivalent consistent with the Universitys admissions criteria. Exceptionally, students without a first degree might be considered on the basis of professional experience or other qualifications. If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL 575 (paper based) 233 (computer based). Careers According to the most recent Destination of Leavers in Higher Education national survey, 97% of MA HRM Middlesex graduates are in employment or related activity. Roles include HR manager, employee relations manager, HR business partner and development consultant. How the course is taught The course is taught by lecturers from our London campus. For each module you will have two weeks of block teaching. Each block consists of the Saturday, Sunday and three evenings within a single week. Each taught module is studied separately - you will start and finish each one over approximately three to four months before starting the next. After completion of the taught modules you will undertake the Dissertation. Programme content Core modules: Strategic People Management and Development This module provides grounding in the strategic management and development of people as well as an understanding of business strategy so you can formulate appropriate human resource strategies. You develop appropriate professional skills needed to operate effectively as a human resource partner to line management. Effective Leadership and Management This module provides you with the core skills related to management and leadership in the organisation so you can apply theory to practice in management. It also provides opportunities to develop personal skills through workshops in leadership and team-building Managing the Employment Relationship This module provides a specialist overview of the employment relationship in the modern workplace. It examines the individual aspects associated with employee resourcing and the collective aspects associated with employee relations - and the legal and regulatory aspects common to them both. Managing Employee Development and Reward Explore the strategies, policies, structures and processes required to develop and manage effective employee reward. You will take a strategic integrated view of the role of the learning and development process in organisations. It also provides you with an opportunity to acquire the key skills of a deliverer of learning.

Dissertation The dissertation is the culmination of the learning process at Masters level. It is the mechanism through which students add to organisational knowledge in order to enhance performance and at the same time contribute to broader theoretical debates. The module aims to provide students with the opportunity to consolidate and synthesise their learning in human resource management through a predominantly selfmanaged in-depth study leading to an in-company dissertation. Research methods sessions provide students with the knowledge framework and the skills necessary for undertaking a dissertation. Teaching staff We have one of the strongest teaching staff profiles in the UK. More than 80% of our teaching staff are either members or fellows of the CIPD. 75% of our teaching staff are engaged in research working in relevant and developing areas of HR policy and delivery. Our large body of professors are actively involved in teaching and curriculum development. Andrew Mayo, one of our professors was rated one of the most influential UK HR academics in a peer survery in HR magazine. Our head of department is Mary Hartog, a National Teaching Fellow. London teaching staff will fly to Hong Kong for course delivery.

Programme Leader: Professor Derek Miles (above) Professor Derek Miles was formerly Director of Human Resources at the international charity Save the Children before joining Middlesex University. He is an expert in human resource development (HRD) and his teaching and research interests cover strategic HRD, leadership development and ethnic and international HR. He won best paper at a recent CIPD conference for his paper on Green issues in Human Resource Management
