SERVICE

Teachers day is celebrated on the birthday of the great educationist Dr S. Radhakirshnan. We know that education is the foundation stone for any civilization to progress. Todays prayer service is to pray for all the teachers who have dedicated their lives to molding and fashioning the lives of the children, by teaching them to cherish the values of honesty and integrity. The month of September celebrates two types of women. One, Mother Mary on her birthday and the other teachers, widely known as Teachers Day. Mary was the mother of Jesus and as all mothers are, she was a teacher too. A childs learning begins at home. Gradually as the child grows, he/she is admitted in the school. And thats when the teacher takes over.. Light represents the presence of God. Light is traditionally linked with knowledge and goodness. It represents the direction and guidance of God. A teacher is someone who inspires, encourages and guides pupils so that they become capable enough to face all the odds of their life. My dear teachers you are like a candle. You burn yourself to spread the light of knowledge, wisdom, peace and love. You are content to be hidden so that your students may shine.

T - for the TEACHING TALENT you apply to impart the skills of learning process and form us to be persons of character, competence, conscience and compassion.

E - for the ENTHUSIASM you spread to inspire and exhort us. As an Educator you enkindle the fervor in our souls to be enthused with interest in our studies.

A for the ABILITY in you which discovers our potential and motivates us to be a achievers; You make learning a joy, discover fun and adventure.

C - for the COMMITMENT of time, labour and energy you invest in the esteemed noble task as a responsible and dedicated Teacher of our School.

H - for HOME a feeling. You teachers make school our second HOME with you as second parents. You think and plan good for us and guide us rightly to ensure a bright future.

E for the EQUALITY you promote in us, without a trace of bias on caste, creed, colour or gender. You provide equal opportunity to all and transmit the value of gender equality.

R for the RESOURCEFULNESS rare, you have in abundance to cope with any situation or problems. You provide equal opportunity to all and transmit the value of great equity.

S - for the SELFLESS SERVICE you render without any expectation of award doing what is right and going the extra mile for the welfare of the school and students.

Mathew 5 : Verses 14 16 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp, and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. 2. Lord may we help our children to be open minded, have a thirst for knowledge and a hunger for wisdom so that they may make good use of the gifts you have given them. CONCLUDING PRAYER :

Lord God, Your Spirit of Wisdom fills the earth and teaches us your ways. Instruct us that we may learn from Thee what we ought to teach concerning thee. Help us never to forget the beauty in each child. Enable us to teach with WISDOM

for we help to shape the mind. Equip us to teach with TRUTH for we help to shape the conscience. Encourage us to teach with VISION for we help to shape the future. Empower us to teach with LOVE for we help to shape the world. Bless all of us that we may grow into persons you have meant us to be. AMEN.
