Welcome to Genius 2013!

The response to Genius 2013 has been overwhelming and we are happy to confirm your eligibility for the contest. The case study is attached for your reference separately. Please read through the guidelines to work on the solution and important timelines for you to keep in mind. WORKING ON THE CASE STUDY CHALLENGE

Registered teams are expected to work on the Case Study shared by GE and present the analysis/recommendation in the form of a power point presentation converted to PDF, not exceeding 8 slides as per below format 1 cover slide 1 Executive Summary 5 slides to elaborate on solution, covering the following aspects Current Market, Competitor Analysis Proposed Go-to Market Strategy Financial Analysis Feasibility and Sustainability of solution 1 slide for annexure for any calculations- No separate files can be shared as annexures Each team is allowed to submit only 1 entry at the end of the challenge. In case of multiple entries from the same team, we will consider only the first (earliest) entry for evaluation Participating teams are required to send in their entry in the form of a PDF file (ppt converted to pdf) with maximum attachment size as 5MB over email to genius@ge.com The name of the pdf file and the email subject line must be Genius2013_InstituteNameCode_TeamName (Refer Page 4 for institute name code) All entries must be submitted by Monday, October 14, 2013 05:00 pm We will not extend this timeline and any team submissions made beyond the stipulated timelines will not be considered for evaluation Our mailbox may receive high traffic around the deadline. Hence, we request the teams to send across their entries well in advance All teams which have successfully submitted their entries within the stipulated time will receive an acknowledgement email It is the sole responsibility of the team to ensure they have attached the final version of the solution with the email, we will not accept any entries after the stipulated timeline

EVALUATION PROCESS

Each entry will be carefully evaluated by a panel of senior leaders from GE and a panel from IIM A The panel will shortlist the Top 10 teams based on the following criteria: Strategic Focus Depth of analysis Innovation and Imagination

Ease of Implementation of the solution Understanding of the challenge in a holistic way Quality of presentation Creativity

The Top 10 teams will be announced by Tuesday, October 29, 2013 evening. Teams shortlisted for top 10 can gain insights from GE Sr. Leaders and refine their final presentations Top 10 teams will also be encouraged to visit a nearby Tier II or Tier III town and discuss their solution with the customers to gain deeper insights

Any cost related to research on providing the solution will have to be borne by the students
The Top 10 teams need to revise and re-submit their presentations. We will share timelines for the same with top 10 teams GE will review the revised presentations and announce the Top 5 teams by mid-November Top 5 teams will be a part of the grand finale

GRAND FINALE

All members from the Top 5 teams will be invited to attend the Grand Finale during IIMAs Annual International Business Summit Confluence on Saturday November 30, 2013 Details on the pre-work and other requirements for the Grand Finale will be shared with the shortlisted teams accordingly The Jury for the Grand Finale will consist of senior leaders from GE and senior faculty members Airfare costs pertaining to travel of the shortlisted teams to Ahmedabad and back to campus along with 1 day stay for the grand finale will be borne by GE. Cost of local travel through cabs, meals etc... will have to borne by the teams themselves. The decision of the Judges pertaining to Genius will be final and binding

PRIZES The Winning Team shall receive a cash prize of INR 1, 50,000. The runners-up team shall receive a cash prize of INR 75,000. Cash prize will be subject to deduction of tax at source as per government policies. GE will issue the cash prize by post latest within two months of announcing the winning team and runners-up team. The Team members from top 2 teams will be given an opportunity to be a part of Learn with GE where they will get to spend a day at GE learning how GE is working towards making a healthier India which involves interaction with Sr. Business Leaders, visiting the manufacturing or the R&D center which will provide you insights on innovations by GE plus a great chance to develop network with industry experts and stalwarts. All members of the Top 10 teams will be felicitated with personalized certificates of achievement. The Winning Team members shall be eligible for a Pre-Placement Interview (PPI) for the Internship cycle 2014 (First year) or Entry-level GE Leadership Programs (Second Year), basis eligibility criteria and Jury discretion.

Disclaimer and Terms & Conditions By entering Genius, the Case Study Challenge conducted by GE India Industrial Pvt. Ltd. (GE) you agree to the terms and conditions below which are subject to change by GE at any time without notice, if in GEs absolute discretion this is necessary in order to clarify the terms and conditions or protect the integrity of the GE Challenge 1. The judging panel will comprise of GE selected representatives. Entries and pitches will be judged on team performance and merit and not on individual performances. Decisions made by the judging panel will be final and binding on all participants. 2. Participant details (Name, Institute and pitches) of the top ten teams may be made public in recognition of their achievements. The presentations made by the top ten teams will become a property of GE and may be used by GE anywhere in the world without any obligation to the participants. 5. GEs decision in relation to any aspect of the Case Study Challenge is final and binding on each person who participates. No correspondence will be entered into. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost or misdirected entries. 6. The individual participants in the winning team will be invited to provide a resume as part of the process for consideration for GEs Entry-level Leadership programs or internship program basis program criteria and jurys discretion. Decisions relating to offers for these are entirely at the discretion of GE and an invitation resulting from the Case Study Challenge does not guarantee a participant a position at GE. 7. To the extent permitted by law, GE takes no responsibility for any injury, loss or damages incurred by participants whilst competing in the competition, however arising. Participants agree that GE will not be liable for any liability, claim, or damage suffered by the participant as a result of or in connection with their participation in The GE Challenge. 8. GE accepts no responsibility for any tax liability that may arise from winning a prize. 9. Any additional cost related to research or providing the solution will have to be borne by the students.
