Arrest, trial, and death

In the account given by the synoptic gospels, Jesus came with his followers to Jerusalem during the Passover festival where a large crowd came to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Resurrection and Ascension

:ccording to the 5ospels, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifi/ion$#he 5ospel of &atthew states that an angel appeared near the tomb of Jesus and announced his resurrection to &ary &agdelene and "another &ary" who had arrived to anoint the body %&atthew 2D)(3(4+$ :ccording to Lu'e there were two angels %Lu'e 27)7+, and according to &ar' there was a youth dressed in white %&ar' (9)8+$ &ar' states that on the morning of his resurrection, Jesus first appeared to &ary &agdalene %&ar' (9)B+$ John states that when &ary loo'ed into the tomb, two angels as'ed her why she was cryingE and as she turned round she initially failed to recogni@e Jesus until he spo'e her name %John 24)((3(D+$ #he :cts of the :postles state that Jesus appeared to various people in various places over the ne/t forty days$ Hours after his resurrection, he appeared to two travelers on the road to Fmmaus %Lu'e 27)(C3C8+$ #o his assembled disciples he showed himself on the evening after his resurrection %John 24)(B+$ :lthough his own ministry had been specifically to Jews, Jesus is said to have sent his apostles to the 5entiles with the 5reat 1ommission and ascended to heaven while a cloud concealed him from their sight$ :ccording to :cts, Paul of #arsus also saw Jesus during his ?oad to ;amascus e/perience$ Jesus promised to come again to fulfill the remainder of &essianic prophecy$
