SAP BI/BW

SAP BI Steps up till now from video tutorial:There are two type of Database in SAP BW:1. OLTP(Online transaction Processing) database:- It contains detailed transaction data. 2. OLAP (Online Analytical Processing):- It contains transaction data that has been re-structured for querying and analysis. Go to transaction RSA1.

-Create Infoarea -Create InfoObjects & Assign Attributes, InfoObject Catalog - 1.Characteristics 2. Key Figure -Create Source System -Create Data Source(Source System file is created) -Create Infopackage( From Data source) -Go to schedule Tab & click on start. -check monitor button. -Click on PSA (Persistent Staging Area) Maintenance Button from that you can see that whether the correct data is uploaded in PSA. -Create Transformation(Mapping) -Load into infoprovider.

Data Source- It is logical grouping of fields. Infoobjects- these are business evaluation objects. Characteristics: It shows the property of an info objects e.g. Material ,products etc. KeyFigure: It shows the amount & quantity field in infoobjects

PSA- Persistent Staging area- This is the area where the data first hits from the datasource here u can change your data also if data is not correct then. DTP- Data transfer process- it is the medium of transferring the data from PSA to Target. Source System- It is the type of system from where the data is transferred to target system. Info Package:- Pushing the data of source system to the PSA of Data source Infoprovider: It is the target. Application Component:- It helps to organize the data sources together. Infocube: It is made up by FACT table & it is surrounded by Dimensions. Fact Table- It contains Keyfigures Dimension- It contains characteristics * An Infocube contains upto 16 dimensions out of which 3 are fix(Standard) & 13 remaining(Custom) *Dimension contains upto 248 characteristics & Fix Dimensions are: 1. Data Package 2. Time 3. Unit. *Fact Table containing upto 233 keyfigures. SID (Surrogate ID)-Links master data to the dimension of an infocube. DIM Id(Dimension Id)- Links Dimension to the fact table.

Steps to work with infocubes :

Create Infocube-->create Dimensions--> select infoobject catalog icon--> select characteristics or keyfigures from that-->Put characteristics in dimension--> & Put keyfigures in Infocube Keyfigure Tab --> save & activate-->Create Datasource for fetching data from flatfile & activate your datasource after completing all tabs-->create infopackage for that-->Click on schedule tab & it displays message 'data was requested'.-->Right click on infopackage & select Manage to see whether data is correctly loaded or not -->Press PSA Icon & check the data-->Right click on infocube name & click on Create Transformation--> map all the fields then activate it--> Then go inside cube & create data transfer processes--> Fill all the required fields & activate it.

Important Tcodes in OLTP(810 Client) which are used in OLAP(800):--RSA5--> Installation of data sources -RSA6-->Active data sources reside in this tcode.

-RSO2-->Generic Data Sources -RSA3-->Extraction Checker Table name- roosfield through which we can made enhancement for enable the field for select options ********************* Metadata--> Data about data 1. In BW--> Transfer our datasource from ECC to BW 2.Replicate Metadat 3.Activate the datasource. 4. Create an info package & load the data into BW. Real Time Scenarios:----1. When we have table 2. when 2 or more tables 3.when Datasource is available 4.Datasource & Table(With 2 Fields to be added is given) Then create generic dataSOURCE for that using RSo2 Then create view & then make its generic datasource using RSO2 Then go to RSA5 to extract the datasource Append structure is used & enhanced the datasource
