BCT = Bus Cycle Time, is the interval time between two polls to the same device.

The above curve gives the UNI-TELWAY cycle time as a function of the number of slaves at 9.6 K bits/s or 19.2 K bits/s, with a typical turnaround time of 5 ms per device (excluding messages).

Slave to slave 44 + 2.3 N (1) 29 + 1.15 N (1) (1) N = Number of usable characters corresponding to the messages to be exchanged. In a distributed control system architecture, the application-to-application response time not only depends on the communication system, but also on : i The processing times of the message source and destination devices i The degree of asynchronism between the bus and processor cycle times This response time must be evaluated by the designer of each application according to the devices which are connected. The processing time of a device may vary from one to two cycle times depending on the degree of asynchronism.
BCT = UNI-TELWAY bus cycle time. CT1 = Device 1 bus cycle time.

TSX Micro and TSX Premium PLCs TSX Micro and TSX Premium PLCs can be connected to the UNI-TELWAY bus in one of three ways : 1 1 2 1 Via integral processor port The AUX port (8-way mini-DIN type) has a non-isolated RS 485 serial link channel (maximum distance 10 m). The maximum distance can be increased to 1000 m using TSX P ACC 01 T-junction box. 2 Via integral TSX SCY 21600 module port This module for the TSX Premium PLC has a multiprotocol (including UNI-TELWAY) Half-duplex isolated RS 485 serial link channel. 3 Via TSX SCP 114 PCMCIA card A slot on the processor and on the TSX SCY 21600 module receives among others the multiprotocol (including UNI-TELWAY) isolated RS 485/RS 422 PCMCIA card.

TSX CSA iii : bus cable, double screened twisted pair. The screening must be connected to the earth of each device. TSX SCA 50 : passive T-junction box, matches the impedance when it is installed at the end of the line. TSX SCA 62 : passive 2-channel UNI-TELWAY subscriber socket, used for coding the address of two connected devices, and matching the impedance when it is installed at the end of the line. TSX SCA 60 : passive terminal block, used for intermediate devices which have female 15-way SUB-D type connectors (ATV-45, Masap variable speed controllers). It is used for coding the address of the connected device. TSX SCA 61 : passive terminal block, used for end devices which have female 15-way SUB-D type connectors (ATV-45, Masap variable speed controllers). It is used for coding the address of the connected device. TSX LES 64/74 : cable connectors for UNI-TELWAY bus extensions, used to connect PLC processors with an integral UNI-TELWAY link as standard (model 40 PLCs). They are used for coding the address of the connected device. TSX SCP 114 : PCMCIA card for connecting TSX Micro/Premium PLCs to the UNI-TELWAY bus. TSX CSB 015 : UNI-TELWAY connection cable for connecting the TSX SCM 21i6 module or integral port on the TSX SCY 21600 (TSX Premium) module and the TSX SCA 62 subscriber socket. TSX P ACC 01 : cable connector for connecting the TSX Nano/Micro/Premium PLC terminal port to the UNI-TELWAY bus. The connection cable (length 1 m) is integral to the connector. It provides signal isolation (for a distance > 10 m) impedance matching at the end of the line. It also enables the operation of the terminal port (UNI-TELWAY Master/ Slave or character mode) to be set. XBT-Z908 : UNI-TELWAY connection cable for connecting the CCX 17 operator panel and the TSX SCA 62 subscriber socket. TSX SCP CU 4030 : UNI-TELWAY connection cable for connecting the TSX SCP 114 PCMCIA card and the TSX SCA 50 T-junction box (please consult our specialist catalogues). T FTX CBF 020 : UNI-TELWAY connection cable for connecting the FTX 417/517 terminal and the TER or AUX port on TSX Nano PLCs or on the TSX P ACC 01 cable connector (see page 40050/12). TSX SCA 72 RS 232/RS 485 active adaptor module : for connecting a device with UNI-TELWAY software, but which has an RS 232 physical interface (eg : micro VAX computer) to the UNI-TELWAY bus. TSX CSD i00 : UNI-TELWAY connection cable for connecting TSX LES 64/74 cable connectors (for TSX/PMX processors) and TSX SCA 50 T-junction box. TSX CSC 015 : UNI-TELWAY connection cable for connecting a TSX 17-20 PLC (via a TSX ACC 5 adaptor or TSX SCG 116 1 module) and the TSX SCA 62 subscriber socket. T FTX CB 1 030 : UNI-TELWAY connection cable for connecting an FTX 417/517 terminal or CCX 77 cell controller and the TSX SCA 62 subscriber socket. TSX CSF 050 : RS 232 C (6 signal) connection cable for connecting the TSX SCA 72 adaptor module and an RS 232 device (with a female 25-way SUB-D type connector).
