GAME OVERVIEW

Game Concept
An open world adventure where a spirit inhabits an artifact, you play as a witch
doctor that died and his spirit remains dormant in the religious flute of his tribe. This
will see the spirit take on adventures.

Feature Set
An open, non-linear world which the player can interact with, going between certain
islands and environments within the game, the games main islands are:
- Boa Boa
- Tahiti
- Moorea
- Tahaa
- Tetiaroa

Target Audience
We plan to aim this game for both males and females of the age of 12 and up with
interests in history, Polynesian myth and the growth of European empires.

Game Flow Summary


The player is able to switch between two realities, the first being the Physical world
and the Spirit World.
In these worlds some of the gameplay styles will include

Look and Feel


The visuals of this game are manly very artistic with a cartoon/anime like feel, With
soft edges and bright vibrant colors which helps keep the style of gameplay we are
going for with the adventure theme a lot like The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker.

GAMEPLAY AND MECHANICS


Gameplay

Game Progression

The player takes control of a witch doctors spirit who died defending the village, his
remains dormant in the religious flute, The player then has to use both worlds
(Physical and spiritual) and explore the islands and find various spirits to gain new
songs to gain further abilities to pass throughout the world and try to find a way to
save his tribe.
Puzzle Structure

Puzzles will be an active part of the game whether this being for abilities to find
hidden areas or to just get past certain parts of the story line. This will scale
throughout the game.

To eventually be able to save your tribe from being imprisoned

The spiritual world is where the main combat exists as you are mainly
defending off other
spirits to protect others in the physical world.

Replaying and Saving


The replay within the game is that of any open world game, as you will
normally always find new things youve never interacted with/seen before and can
always have multiple save points to replay your favorite sections.

STORY, SETTING AND CHARACTERS

Story and Narrative


Specific details like scripts and cut scenes may not be in this document but be in the
story bible
Back story
You as the player, are the spirit of a dead witch doctor, who died
defending the village, his spirit remains dormant in the religious flute, There is
another witch doctor from another tribe whom killed the main witch doctor dies and
his soul is also inhabits an object, instead of a flute its a dagger.
Plot Elements
The tribe of the main witch doctor gets captured by European colonials
and the witch doctors as the flute/spirit needs to find a way to help his tribe.

Game World
The game world is based upon typical Polynesian islands. There are many islands
within the game and so this will cause different tribes to have different culture,
religion, beliefs and way of survival which will be impacted by different
environments. The colonials from Europe have an impact throughout the game
world, and will be having more of an impact on the game world further into the
game.

Main Characters
Within the game we have a couple of characters that stand out during the game for
various reasons.

Witch Doctor Tsung (Flute Form)
Back Storyboard

The Witch Doctor was respected within his tribe until he got killed by an
enemy tribes
witch doctor, because of this the witch doctors spirit infused
with a flute and thus the witch
Doctor lives on.
Looks

The flute itself is made to look like a flute from Polynesian culture however
instead
of the holes for fingers to cover the flute could grow legs to
move around, the flutes from
Polynesian culture are very detailed thus
making the object look like it has personality.

The Evil witch doctor sought jealousy over the other tribes that populated near
his tribe as well as feeling inferior to the other witch doctor the only way he
felt he could do something about him; he sought out the death of the other
witch doctor stabbing him with the same knife he now possesses.

Enemy AI
The enemy AI will be based upon two situations the first being what difficulty chosen
at the start of the game and how far you progress into the game.

Support AI
The supporting AI consists of AI following you around for certain quests being able to
assist you as well as possession.
Player and Collision Detection

We would like to make it impossible to move through objects/players


without the right song for the flute; however the right flute could make you invisible.
