Information re Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) 2014 and booklist ordering School Council has agreed to keep the 2014 booklists at $170 per student for 2014. If you are a holder of a Health Care Card or Pension Card you will need to fill in an EMA form for next year. These forms are available at the office and will need to be filled in and returned by the end of term (20 th Dec). Forms returned before end of school year help procedures on day book selling (Tuesday 28th January 2014) to run smoothly without any major holdups due to the filling in of forms. If you choose option 1 on the form (money into your own bank account) you will have to pay the full $170 per child on book pickup day. (Please be aware that the EMA does not appear in your bank account until after book selling day). The Government is giving the option of having your EMA put directly into the school bank (option 2which is the preferred method) or directly into your own bank account (option 1 see above) or (option 3) sent as a cheque in your name that you can pick up from the school. It is highly recommended that you choose option 2 on the form. If you choose to take this option and your child/ren are in grades 1 6 you will have to pay $65 per child on book selling day - which will be on Tuesday 28th January 2014. If you have a Prep child the EMA payment is slightly higher and you will only have to pay $30 for books. As is normal practice the school office orders a booklist package for every child in the school.

Our next Book Fair will be held in May 2014 and Bookclub will continue in term one next year. Could students and parents please look at home for library books and take home readers that need to be returned in preparation for next year. Every week the students from grade 1-6 do a Big Write. The students set a new writing goal each week which may be to use more punctuation, vocabulary, connectives and openers. This week the 3/4s focussed on the Dreamtime. How the Shark Got Its Fins In 1985, in the gross ocean, there lived a shark named Ruf. He couldnt turn. He swam but he couldnt change direction. He couldnt play with his friends. One day, the shark laid on the magic rock. He started getting fins. His friends told him, You are growing fins! Then he started to play. The End By Jyden The Zebras and The Rainbow Once upon a time in the dream time, there were some zebras. One day a rainbow came out and said, Ha ha ha! You are grey and Im rainbow. After a while there was a big storm, lightning struck and the thunder went bang! bang! bang! It was dark, the zebras were still out, the lightning hit them, they were white then the thunder hit them, they were black with white stripes. They are still there today. That is how the zebras got their stripes. By Miah
