ConsideringthattheMossadisquitepossiblythemostruthlessand efficientintelligenceagencyintheworld,itispeculiarthattheyhave neverbeenscrutinizedinrelationtotheKennedyassassination, especiallywhenpracticallyeveryotherentityintheworld(shortof Elvisimpersonators)hasbeenimplicated.Butthatallchangedin January,1994withthereleaseofMichaelCollinsPipersFinal Judgment.Inthisbook,Pipersays,IsraelsMossadwasaprimary(and critical)behindthescenesplayerintheconspiracythatendedthelifeofJFK. Throughitsownvastresourcesandthroughitsinternationalcontactsinthe intelligencecommunityandinorganizedcrime,Israelhadthemeans,ithad theopportunity,andithadthemotivetoplayamajorfrontlineroleinthe crimeofthecenturyanditdid. Theirmotive?IsraelsmuchtoutedPrimeMinisterDavidBenGurion, whoruledthatcountryfromitsinceptionin1948untilheresignedon June16,1963,wassoenragedatJohnF.Kennedyfornotallowing Israeltobecomeanuclearpowerthat,Collinsasserts,inhisfinaldays inofficehecommandedtheMossadtobecomeinvolvedinaplotto killAmericaspresident. BenGurionwassoconvincedthatIsraelsverysurvivalwasindire

jeopardythatinoneofhisfinalletterstoJFKhesaid,Mr.President, mypeoplehavetherighttoexist,andthisexistenceisindanger. InthedaysleadinguptoBenGurionsresignationfromoffice,heand JFKhadbeeninvolvedinanunpublicized,contentiousdebateover thepossibilityofIsraelgettingnuclearcapabilities.Their disagreementeventuallyescalatedintoafullfledgedwarofwords thatwasvirtuallyignoredinthepress.EthanBronnerwroteabout thissecretbattlebetweenJFKandBenGurionyearslaterinaNew YorkTimesarticleonOctober31,1998,callingitafiercelyhidden subject.Infact,theKennedy/BenGurionconversationsarestill classifiedbytheUnitedStatesGovernment.Maybethisisthecase becauseBenGurionsrageandfrustrationbecamesointenseandhis powersogreatwithinIsraelthatPipercontendsitwasatthecenter oftheconspiracytokillJohnKennedy.Thisstanceissupportedby NewYorkbankerAbeFeinberg,whodescribesthesituationassuch: BenGurioncouldbevicious,andhehadsuchahatredoftheoldman[Joe Kennedy,Sr.,JFKsfather].BenGuriondespisedJoeKennedybecause hefeltthatnotonlywasheanantiSemite,butthathehadalsosided withHitlerduringthe1930sand40s.[Wewilltouchuponthisaspect ofthestoryinanupcomingarticleentitledTheCIAandOrganized Crime:TwoSidesoftheSameCoin]. Anyway,BenGurionwasconvincedthatIsraelneedednuclear weaponstoinsureitssurvival,whileKennedywasdeadsetagainstit. Thisinabilitytoreachanagreementcausedobviousproblems.Oneof themrevolvedaroundKennedysdecisionthathewouldmake Americahistoppriorityinregardtoforeignpolicy,andnotIsrael! Kennedyplannedtohonorthe1950TripartiteDeclarationwhichsaid thattheUnitedStateswouldretaliateagainstanynationinthe MiddleEastthatattackedanyothercountry.BenGurion,ontheother hand,wantedtheKennedyAdministrationtosellthemoffensive weapons,particularlyHawkmissiles. Thetwoleadersthusengagedinabrutalletterexchange,but Kennedywouldntbudge.BenGurion,obsessedbythisissue,slipped intototalparanoia,feelingthatKennedysobstinancewasablatant

threattotheveryexistenceofIsraelasanation.Piperwrites,Ben GurionhaddevotedalifetimecreatingaJewishStateandguidingitintothe worldarena.And,inBenGurionseyes,JohnF.Kennedywasanenemyof theJewishpeopleandhisbelovedstateofIsrael.Hecontinues,The nuclearoptionwasnotonlyattheverycoreofBenGurionspersonal worldview,buttheveryfoundationofIsraelsnationalsecuritypolicy. BenGurionwassopreoccupiedwithobtainingnuclearweaponsthat onJune27,1963,elevendaysafterresigningfromoffice,he announced,Idonotknowofanyothernationwhoseneighborsdeclarethat theywishtoterminateit,andnotonlydeclare,butprepareforitbyallmeans availabletothem.Wemusthavenoillusionsthatwhatisdeclaredeveryday inCairo,Damascus,andIraqarejustwords.Thisisthethoughtthatguides theArableadersIamconfidentthatscienceisabletoprovideuswith theweaponsthatwillservethepeaceanddeterourenemies. AvnerCohen,inIsraelandtheBomb,publishedbyColumbia UniversityPress,reinforcesthissenseofurgencybywriting,Imbued withlessonsoftheHolocaust,BenGurionwasconsumedbyfearsofsecurity AnxietyabouttheHolocaustreachedbeyondBenGuriontoinfuse Israelsmilitarythinking.Hefurtheraddsfueltothispointby pointingout,BenGurionhadnoqualmsaboutIsraelsneedforweaponsof massdestruction,andBenGurionsworldviewandhisdecisive governingstyleshapedhiscriticalroleininstigatingIsraelsnuclear progress. Kennedy,ontheotherhand,wasadamantinhisrefusaltopromote Israelsascensiontothenuclearstage.AvenerCohen,inIsraelandthe Bomb,stresses,NoAmericanpresidentwasmoreconcernedwiththe dangerofnuclearproliferationthanJohnFitzgeraldKennedy.Hewas convincedthatthespreadofnuclearweaponswouldmaketheworldmore dangerousandundermineU.S.interests.Cohencontinuesattheendof thispassage,TheonlyexampleKennedyusedtomakethispointwas Israel. RealizingthatKennedywouldnotchangehismind,BenGurion decidedtojoinforceswithCommunistChina.Bothcountrieswere

greatlyinterestedincreatingnuclearprograms,andsobegantheir secretjointdealings.WorkinginunisonthroughintermediaryShaul Eisenberg,whowasapartnerofMossadgunrunnerandaccountant TiborRosenbaum,IsraelandChinaproceededtodeveloptheirown nuclearcapabilitieswithouttheknowledgeoftheUnitedStates. Ifyoufindthisscenarioimprobable,Istronglyurgeyoutoread GordonThomasexcellentbook,SeedsofFire,whereheexposeshow theMossadandCSIS(Chinesesecretservice)haveconspiredonmany occasionstonotonlystealAmericanmilitarysecrets,buttoalso doctorU.S.intelligenceprogramssuchastheJusticeDepartments PROMISsoftware.Thisinstance,Iamafraidtosay,isbutthefirst whereechoesoftheJFKassassinationcanstillbefelttoday reverberatingthroughourpost911world.ThedangerofIsrael developingtheBombinunisonwithChinabecameahighlyvolatile situation,andwascloselymonitoredbytheCIA. Intentonpursuingthispath,theIsraelisconstructedanuclearfacility atDimona.WhenKennedydemandedthattheU.S.inspectthisplant, BenGurionwassoincensedthatheerectedanotherPHONYfacility thatheldnoevidenceofnuclearresearchanddevelopment.(Doesthis scenariosoundeerilyfamiliartothegamewereplayingwithSaddam HusseininIraqrightnow?)Fullyawareoftheirshenanigans,though, JFKtoldCharlesBartlett,Thesonsofbitcheslietomeconstantly abouttheirnuclearcapability. AvnerCohen,inIsraelandtheBomb,reiteratesthisclaimbysaying thatBenGurionhadtakenthenuclearissuesocloselytoheartthat he,concludedthathecouldnottellthetruthaboutDimonatoAmerican leaders,noteveninprivate. Dr.GeraldM.Steinberg,politicalscienceprofessoratBarIlan UniversitysBESACenterforStrategicStudiesinTelAviv,weighsin bysaying,Between1961and1963,theKennedyadministrationplaceda greatdealofpressureonBenGurionintheefforttopressureforacceptance ofinternationalinspectionofDimonaandIsraeliabdicationoftheirnuclear weapons.ThispressureapparentlydidnotalterIsraelipolicy,butitwasa

contributingfactortoBenGurionsresignationin1963. Toconveyhowseriousthissituationhadbecomeinmodernterms, lookatwhatishappeninginIraqwithUnitedNationssecurityteams inspectingtheroyalpalacesandbunkersfornuclearweaponsand materials.Thismatterissourgentthatournationisonthevergeof war.Fortyyearsearlier,theheatthatJFKwasplacingonBenGurion wasequallyasstrongaswhatGeorgeBushislayingonSaddam Husseintoday. InIsraelandtheBomb,AvnerCohenreinforcesthispoint.Toforce BenGuriontoaccepttheconditions,Kennedyexertedthemostuseful leverageavailabletoanAmericanpresidentindealingwithIsrael:athreat thatanunsatisfactorysolutionwouldjeopardizetheU.S.governments commitmentto,andsupportof,Israel. ThepressureonBenGurionwassoimmensethatheendedup leavingoffice.ButKennedy,intruepitbullstyle,didntletuponBen Gurionssuccessor,LeviEshkol,asAvnerCohenreports.Kennedy toldEshkolthattheU.S.commitmentandsupportofIsraelcouldbe seriouslyjeopardizedifIsraeldidnotlettheU.S.obtainreliable informationaboutitseffortsinthenuclearfield.Kennedysdemandswere unprecedented.Theyamounted,ineffect,toanultimatum.Cohen concludesthisthoughtbyasserting,Kennedysletterprecipitateda nearcrisissituationinEshkolsoffice.* Intheend,aswereallaware,Kennedywasassassinatedin November1963;butlessknownisthatChinaconducteditsfirst nucleartestinOctober,1964.Whatmakesthiseventmoreprofoundis PipersclaimthateventhoughIsraelsaiditsfirstnuclearteststook placein1979,theyactuallyoccurredinOctober,1964alongwiththe Chinese!Ifthisistrue,otherthanAugust,1945whentheUnited StatesdroppedatomicbombsonHiroshimaandNagasaki,October 1964maypossiblybethemostdangerousmonthin20thcentury history. Letsreturn,though,toJFKsassassinationandthedirectresultsofit

inregardtotheJewishlobby,Americanforeignpolicy,andthe militarizationofIsrael.TounderstandhowpowerfultheIsraelilobby isinthiscountry,venerableSenatorJ.WilliamFulbrighttoldCBS FacetheNationonApril15,1973,IsraelcontrolstheU.S.Senate.The Senateissubservient,muchtoomuch;weshouldbemoreconcernedabout U.S.interestsratherthandoingthebiddingofIsrael.Thegreatmajorityof theSenateoftheU.S.somewherearound80%iscompletelyinsupportof Israel;anythingIsraelwants;Israelgets.Thishasbeendemonstratedtime andagain,andthishasmade[foreignpolicy]difficultforourgovernment. DoyouhearwhatSenatorFulbrightsaid?Thisisntacrazy conspiracytheoristoraKKKantiSemite.ItsamuchrespectedU.S. Senatorsayingthatabout80%oftheSenateisinIsraelshippocket. AddingclouttothisargumentisRep.PaulFindley,whowasquoted inTheWashingtonReportonMiddleEastAffairsinMarch,1992, DuringJohnKennedyscampaignforthepresidency,agroupofNewYork Jewshadprivatelyofferedtomeethiscampaignexpensesifhewouldletthem sethisMiddleEastpolicy.HedidnotagreeAsthepresident,heprovided onlylimitedsupportofIsrael. TounderstandhowimportantKennedysdecisionswereduringhis shortlivedpresidency,weneedtolookattheissueofcampaign finance.ConsideringhowinfluentialtheIsraelilobbyisintheU.S. Senate(hearkeningbacktothewordsofSenatorFulbright),theyhad tohavebeenenragedwhenPresidentKennedygenuinelywantedto cutthekneesoutfromunderthecurrentcampaignfinancemethods becauseitmadepoliticianssoreliantuponthehugecashinlaysof specialinterestgroups.Regrettably,Kennedydidnothavethetimeto implementthisprogram,andtothisdayourpoliticalsystemisstill monopolizedbylobbyistsfromtheverysamespecialinterestgroups. Onecanonlyimaginewhatchangeswouldhaveoccurredinregardto ourforeignpolicyhadKennedyeradicatedthesevipersandblood suckersfromthehallsofCongress. Tragically,Kennedysideasnevercametofruition,andhisheated battlewithPrimeMinisterBenGurionoverwhetherIsraelshouldbe allowedtodevelopanuclearprogramwasultimatelylost.Thereason

whyisthatLyndonBainesJohnson,whoKennedyintendedtodrop fromhisticketin1964duetohisextremedislikefor,hadacomplete reversalinforeignpolicy.Asyouwillsee,notonlydidIsraelsnuclear programmoveaheadunchecked;theyalsobecametheprimary beneficiaryofourforeignaid. ButthisabsoluteturnaroundwouldnothaveoccurredifKennedy wouldnothavebeenassassinated.UpuntilLBJbecamepresident, KennedydealtwiththeMiddleEastinawaythatmostbenefitedthe U.S.Hisprimarygoalandonewhichwouldmostkeepthepeace wasabalanceofpowerintheMiddleEastsothateachandevery nationwouldbesecure.ThisdecisionadheredtotheTripartite DeclarationwhichtheU.S.signedin1950.ButundertheJohnson administration,thisfragilebalancewasoverturned,andby1967 onlyfouryearsafterKennedysassassinationtheU.S.wasIsraels mainweaponssupplier,andOURbestinterestswereputwellbehind thoseofIsrael! AsMichaelCollinsPiperwrites:Thebottomlineisthis:JFKwas adamantlydeterminedtostopIsraelfrombuildingthenuclearbomb.LBJ simplylookedtheotherway.JFKsdeathdidindeedprovebeneficialto Israelsnuclearambitionsandtheevidenceprovesit. ReuvenPedatzer,inareviewofAvnerCohensIsraelandtheBomb, intheIsraeliNewspaperHaaretzonFebruary5,1999wrote,The murderofAmericanpresidentJohnF.Kennedybroughttoanabruptendthe massivepressurebeingappliedbytheU.S.administrationonthe governmentofIsraeltodiscontinuetheirnuclearprogram.Hecontinues, KennedymadeitquitecleartotheIsraeliPrimeMinisterthathewouldnot underanycircumstancesagreetoIsraelbecominganuclearstate.Pedatzer concludes,HadKennedyremainedalive,itisdoubtfulwhetherIsrael wouldtodayhaveanuclearoption,andthat,BenGurionsdecisionto resignin1963wastakentoalargeextentagainstthebackgroundofthe tremendouspressurethatKennedywasapplyingonhimconcerningthe nuclearissue. Ifyourestillnotconvinced;howaboutsomenumbers?InKennedys

lastfiscalbudgetyearof1964,Israeliaidwas$40million.InLBJsfirst budgetof1965,itsoaredto$71million,andin1966morethantripled fromtwoyearsearlierto$130million!Plus,duringKennedys administration,almostnoneofouraidtoIsraelwasmilitaryin nature.Instead,itwassplitequallybetweendevelopmentloansand foodassistanceunderthePL480Program.Yetin1965underthe Johnsonadministration,20%ofouraidtoIsraelwasforthemilitary, whilein1966,71%wasusedforwarrelatedmaterials. Continuinginthissamevein,in1963theKennedyadministration sold5HawkmissilestoIsraelaspartofanairdefensesystem.In 196566,though,LBJlaid250tanksonIsrael,48Skyhawkattack aircrafts,plusgunsandartillerywhichwerealloffensiveinnature.If youeverwonderedwhentheIsraeliWarMachinewascreated,thisis it!LBJwasitsfather. AccordingtoStephenGreeninTakingSides:AmericasSecret RelationswithaMilitantIsrael,The$92millioninmilitaryassistance providedinfiscalyear1966wasgreaterthanthetotalofallofficialmilitary aidprovidedtoIsraelcumulativelyinalltheyearsgoingbacktothe foundationofthatnationin1948. Greencontinues,70%ofallU.S.officialassistancetoIsraelhasbeen military.AmericahasgivenIsraelover$17billioninmilitaryaidsince1946, virtuallyallofwhichover99%hasbeenprovidedsince1965. Canyouseewhatshappeninghere?WithintwoyearsofJFKs assassination,Israelwentfrombeingaweak,outmatchedmemberof thevolatileMiddleEasterncommunitythatwasnotallowedto developnuclearweaponstoonethatwaswellonitswaytobecoming aundeniablemilitaryforceontheworldstage.JohnKennedy adamantlyputhisfootdownandrefusedtoallowIsraeltodevelopa nuclearprogram,whileLBJbentoverbackwardtofacilitateand bolsterthem.Or,asSeymourHershwroteinTheSamsonOption,By 1968,thepresidenthadnointentionofdoinganythingtostoptheIsraeli bomb.

TheresultofthisshiftinfocusfromtheKennedytoJohnson administrationis,inmyopinion,thePRIMARYreasonbehindour currenttroublesintheMiddleEastwhichculminatedinthe911 attacksandourupcomingwarwithIraq(andbeyond).Ihaveagreat dealofconfidenceinthisstatement,forasMichaelCollinsPiper pointsout,herearetheresultsofJohnF.Kennedysassassination: 1)OurforeignandmilitaryaidtoIsraelincreaseddramaticallyonce LBJbecamepresident. 2)RatherthantryingtomaintainaBALANCEintheMiddleEast, Israelsuddenlyemergedasthedominantforce. 3)SincetheLBJadministration,Israelhasalwayshadweaponry thatwassuperiortoanyofitsdirectneighbors. 4)DuetothisundeniableandobviousincreaseinIsraelsWar Machine,aconstantstrugglehasbeenperpetuatedintheMiddle East. 5)LBJalsoallowedIsraeltoproceedwithitsnucleardevelopment, resultinginthembecomingthe6thlargestnuclearforceinthe world. 6)Finally,ourhugeoutlaysofforeignaidtoIsrael(approximately $10billion/yearwhenallissaidanddone)hascreatedasituationof neverendingattacksandretaliationintheMiddleEast,plus outrightscornandenmityagainsttheU.S.forplayingtheroleof Israelsmilitaryenabler. InIsraels,andespeciallyDavidBenGurionseyesthen,whatwere theiralternativestoremainweakened(oratleastbalanced)in relationtotheirneighborsandhandcuffedbyJFKsrefusaltobow totheirwill,orKILLtheonemanstandingintheirwayto becomingdominantintheMiddleEast,therecipientofhuge amountsofmilitaryaid,andoneofthepremiernuclearforcesin theworld?Itssomethingtothinkabout.Also,whilethesethoughts

arerunningthroughyourhead,askyourselfthisquestion.If Kennedy,LBJ,andallsubsequentadministrationswouldhave adheredtothe1950TripartiteDeclarationanddideverythingin theirpowertomaintainbalanceintheMiddleEastinsteadof pushingIsraeltotheforefront,wouldourTowershavebeen attackedon911,2001,andwouldwebeonthevergeofapossibly catastrophicwartoday?Itscertainlysomethingtoponder.
