Introduction
KP literature contains various rules or determinin! the !ender o a native"s child. #ne such rule is$ %Take the 5th cuspal sublord (for 1st child). If it is posited in a male sign, the child will be male, and if it is in a female sign, it will be female.& A variation o this rule is$ %Take the sublord of 5th cuspal sublord. If it is posited in a male sign, the child will be male, and if it is in a female sign, it will be female.& 'et another rule is$ %Take the starlord of the sublord of 5th cuspal sublord. If it is posited in a male sign, the child will be male, and if it is in a female sign, it will be female.& Althou!h (e are (illin! to acce)t that multi)le rules could theoreticall* *ield the correct result, it is di icult to +elieve that all the a+ove three rules could simultaneousl* +e correct. These are not the onl* rules quoted in the conte,t o determinin! the !ender o a native"s child. There are several more, +ut sadl*, not ever* rule a))ears to +e always applicable. - a rule is not al(a*s a))lica+le, then it is di icult to rel* on such a rule to !ive a correct )rediction. -nstead o as.in!, %How can one determine the gender of a nati e!s child"& i the question is re)hrased as, %#i en that a particular cusp represents a blood relati e of a nati e, how can one determine the gender of that relati e"& the question +ecomes much more !eneral and a rule that ans(ers this !eneral question (ill +e e,tremel* valua+le. -n act, such a technique, as (e (ill sho( later, can even assist in +irth time recti ication.
