Dear Mr. Campbell, My name is Heather Fincher and I am a student in your English 1103 course.

But Im sure you already know that. I guess a good place to begin would that I am attending UNC Charlotte because I aim to one day becoming an ER surgeon. I am majoring in Biology, although I have lately been debating on whether or not it would be in my best interests to switch to nursing, so that I have something to fall back on. I am sometimes accused of being a pessimistic person, although I prefer to call it being realistic. Either way, I view the world as a place that is full of experiences and opportunities that comes with its positive and negative sides, but it is up to the individual to take charge and write the story on their own life. I have always been pretty good at English; it is my best subject. Math is an abomination of sorts to me. I come from Indian trail, North Carolina, which is only twenty-five minutes away from campus. I chose this school primarily because of the close location to my home. I have one dog who goes by the name of Hunter. He is a Daschund and is undoubtedly my best friend. I have had him for thirteen years now. I have many hobbies and activities I like to do in my free time. I am a huge Music enthusiast. I love symphonic and concert bands, in fact I participated in one from sixth to twelfth grade. I played the flute. The Trans Siberian Orchestra is my favorite band of all time, and I love works done by Beethoven. I also love the sport softball. I have played since second grade and I am planning on playing intramural for UNCC. I LOVE shopping I shop whenever I am stressed, upset, or frustrated. It is my outlet and get-away. I have an obsession with shoes, especially high-heels. I also just love buying new things. Unfortunately, my wallet doesnt. I enjoy hanging out with friends sometimes, but it really depends on my mood. Sometimes I just like my alone time by myself. Other times, Im all for going out on a mini road trip into the Queen City, watching movies, or just having random sleepovers with my closest friends. I have a very large family; four brothers and a sister. Mind blowing, right? Even though it may seem like a lot, I often feel like an only child, as all of my siblings are much older than I and are all moved out of the house. My youngest sibling, who is my sister, is 13 years older than I am. My oldest brother is turning 40 this year. I, by the way, am 18. I have fallen victim to the bandwagon and I do have many different accounts with social media sites including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr. I used to coach basketball for the Upward program at my church. I coached a group of fifth grade girls and had a great time. I am still slowly growing accustomed to UNCCs campus, although I now know where all of my classes are. I love campus and contrary to what I have heard, I am not yet experiencing home sickness, although I am sure it will hit in about a week or two. Something about myself that I particularly like is that I am a natural redhead This is because not a lot of people can say this; in fact only .2% of the entire population is natural redheads. I am allergic to fake metals, making it an impossible and painful process to get my ears pierced. I am on my third time getting them pierced. Wet n Wild waterpark will forever hold horrible memories to me, as I almost drowned there twice. I was with my girl scout troop and I waddled into the wave pool when whoops! An unexpected drop on the floor of the pool had me plunging towards my impending doom. If it werent for the outstretched arm about 2 minutes later I would not be sitting here right now writing this letter to you. I

hope to next semester get a job on campus or near it so I can have some extra cash in my pocket and not have to depend on my parents so heavily on everything. Plus, I feel bad taking so much of their money. I hope you enjoy this little sneak-peak into my life. I promise it isnt as interesting as it sounds. I look forward to your class and what I am going to learn!

Sincerely,

Heather Marie Fincher
