All 1. Festive Dinner. The holiday season is for the majority of people a joyous occasion to be celebrated with friends and family this applies equally well to our military family, where Regimental, Wing, or Base festive dinners allow a forum for men and women of the CF to celebrate the season in the camaraderie of one another. 2. This also applies for personnel posted to the JPSU, although the means may be slightly different the end remains the same getting the troops together to enjoy one anothers company. It must be remembered that although the JPSU is a Unit, we are a transitory unit, and this philosophy extends to events such as the Festive Dinner when we want our mbrs to interact with their counterparts outside of the JPSU. Given the nature of the JPSU we must take extra effort to ensure that personnel who may feel more isolated during the season are accounted for, especially those who may have MELs that limit exposure to military environment. 3. To this end, pls ensure that personnel posted to, or under the care of, JPSU Eastern Ontario are strongly encouraged to participate in the Festive Dinners in their respective locations unless medically excused. (Last year IPSC Petawawa arranged to have personnel attend the Base Petawawa Festive Dinner, while the IPSC leadership served). Although a centralised Festive Dinner, such as what was arranged in Petawawa, is an excellent initiative, it is also very important to liaise with the personnels home Unit/Regiment/Squadron/Branch. Pls communicate to them that they have personnel posted to the JPSU and that an invitation from their home unit is highly appropriate and encouraged. Should there be enough personnel with restrictive MELs, and there is enough interest, pls consider an off-base gathering and submit your plan to Region HQ for review. 4. Christmas Hamper Drive. The Christmas Hamper Drive is designed to assist families in our military community, pls keep an ear out for this program at your IPSC and that personnel posted, or under the care of, JPSU Eastern Ontario are aware of this program and can take advantage of it if required.
