This manual describes the router DIR-300NRU and explains how to configure and operate it. This manual is intended for users familiar with basic networ ing concepts! who create an in-home local area networ ! and s"stem administrators! who install and configure networ s in offices.

General Information
The DIR-300NRU de&ice is a wireless router with a built-in +-port switch. It pro&ides a fast and simple wa" to create a wireless and wired networ at home or in an office. ,ou are able to connect the wireless router DIR-300NRU to a cable or D-. modem or to a pri&ate /thernet line and use a high-speed Internet connection to successfull" fulfill a wide range of professional tas s. The built-in +-port switch enables "ou to connect /thernet-enabled computers! game consoles! and other de&ices to "our networ . Using the DIR-300NRU de&ice! "ou are able to *uic l" create a wireless networ at home or in "our office! which lets "our relati&es or emplo"ees connect to "our wireless networ &irtuall" an"where $within the operational range of "our wireless networ %. Before You Begin

The web-based interface is a&ailable from an" operating s"stem that supports a web browser. If "ou perform initial configuration of the router &ia 6i-Ai connection! note that immediatel" after changing the wireless default settings of the router "ou will need to reconfigure the wireless connection using the newl" specified settings.

To open the list of a&ailable wireless networ s! select the icon of the wireless networ connection and clic the Connect !o button or left-clic the networ icon in the notification area located on the right side of the tas bar.

"ou can access the web-based interface and configure needed parameters $create a 6#N connection! change the parameters of the wireless networ ! specif" the settings of the firewall! etc.%. 2. -tart a web browser $see the Before You Begin section! page 23%. 1. In the address bar of the web browser! enter the I( address of the router $b" default! the following I( address is specified5 1,2.163.4.1%. (ress the )nter e".

3. On the opened page! enter the username and password for the administrator account in the 1o(in and ass*ord fields correspondingl" $b" default! the following username and password are specified5 admin! admin%. Then clic the "nter lin .

If the error MThe page cannot be displayedL $or MUnable to display the pageL7MCould not connect to remote serverL% occurs upon connecting to the web-based interface of the router! ma e sure that "ou ha&e properl" connected the router to "our computer.

Right after the first access to the web-based interface "ou are forwarded to the page for changing the administrator password specified b" default.

/nter a new password in the ass*ord and Con>irmation fields $"ou ma" use digits! .atin letters $uppercase and7or lowercase%! and characters a&ailable on the e"board%! then clic the 3ave lin .

Remember or write down the new password for the administrator account. In case of losing the new password! "ou can access the settings of the router onl" after restoring the factor" default settings &ia the hardware R)")T1W " button. This procedure wipes out all settings that "ou ha&e configured for "our router.

#fter successful registration the router's *uic settings page opens.

The web-based interface of the router is multilingual. -elect a needed language from the menu displa"ed when the mouse pointer is o&er the 1an(ua(e caption. ,ou can change the language of the web-based interface in an" menu item.

#fter selecting the language! the notification on unsa&ed changes will be displa"ed. )lic the 3ave icon $ % to sa&e the current language of the web-based interface as the default language.

The *uic settings page displa"s general information on the router and its software $the &ersion and the date of the firmware! the I( address of the de&ice! the name of the 6.#N! etc.%.

On the *uic settings page "ou can run a needed 6i8ard! *uic l" get to some pages of the webbased interface! search for a specific page! or switch to the ad&anced settings section. To upgrade the firmware of the router! left-clic the current firmware &ersion $the right column of the ?irm*are version line%. #fter clic ing the line! the 3:stem 8 ?irm*are u&(rade page opens $for the detailed description of the page! see the #ir$%are !pgrade section! page 2D+%. To contact the technical support group $to send an e-mail%! left-clic the support e-mail address $the right column of the 3u&&ort line%. #fter clic ing the line! the e-mail client window for sending a new letter to the specified address opens. To edit the router's local interface parameters! left-clic the I( or 4#) address of the local interface $the right column of the 1AN I line or 1AN MAC line correspondingl"%. #fter clic ing the line! the page for editing the .#N interface opens $for the detailed description of the page! see the &'( section! page 220%. The current &ersion of the router's firmware is displa"ed in the ?irm*are version field located next the D-.in logo in the top left corner of the page. If "ou need to install a newer &ersion of the firmware! follow the next steps5

Safety Instructions

Operate the router onl" from an electrical outlet with the correct power source as indicated on the adapter. Do not open the co&er of the router. Otherwise an" warrant" will be in&alidated. Reep in mind! howe&er! that the number! thic ness and location of walls! ceilings! or other ob@ects that the wireless signals must pass through! ma" limit the range. T"pical ranges &ar" depending on the t"pes of materials and bac ground RA noise in "our home or office. To maximi8e "our wireless range! follow the guidelines below. 2. Reep the number of walls and ceilings between the DIR-300NRU de&ice and other networ de&ices to a minimum Q each wall or ceiling can reduce "our wireless networ range b" 3E0 feet $2-30 meters%. 1. 9e aware of the direct line between networ de&ices. (lace "our de&ices so that the signal tra&els straight through a wall or ceiling $instead of at an angle% for better reception. 3. 9uilding materials ma e a difference. # solid metal door or aluminum studs ma" ha&e a negati&e effect on "our wireless range. Tr" to position "our router! access points! and computers so that the signal passes through dr"walls or open doorwa"s. 4aterials and ob@ects such as glass! steel! metal! walls with insulation! water $fish tan s%! mirrors! file cabinets! bric ! and concrete will degrade "our wireless signal. +.
