From the PRESIDENT

Dear Member, December marks the end of a very important service which KRCB has been oering to our Northern California community for 25-plus years. GED on TV and GED on TV in Spanish have been staples of our daily lineup, of which we have been very proud. Other sta ons that carried these important educa onal programs ran them in the middle of the night, but we proudly aired them day me weekdays, a me slot which we calculated had the best chance of reaching those in need of comple ng their high school diploma. I remember early days mee ng a single mom who had dropped out of high school and who couldnt nd a job as a result. While watching her kids, she was able to also Nancy Dobbs, President and CEO watch GED on TV on KRCB and study to earn her GED. I met her on the campus of Santa Rosa Junior College, where she had never been before, having just completed her GED test. That year we had a gradua on ceremony for those successful graduates, many of whom had studied with KRCB, including that young mom. The rules around GED are being signicantly altered so the programs are no longer available. We like to think that over the past 25 years KRCB has been instrumental in helping hundreds of folks study and successfully complete the test, helping them take the ini a ve to turn their lives around. This is the service to community which your membership supports, and we thank you.
