About the Community Greenwood Village is a Denver suburb with 14,000 full time residents. The Village is an employment center that grows by 35,000 persons each work day. About the Village Government Organization Greenwood Village city government exists to make a positive difference in the lives of those in the community. About the Department What We Do The Department ensures that new development in the Village fosters convenient access to amenities, services, and employment. Building designs are made safe and attractive. Existing neighborhoods and the natural environment are protected from the impacts of new construction through the work of the Department. The Department makes certain all public and private properties are maintained at appropriate Village safety and appearance standards. The department maintains customer service relationships that facilitate the attainment of high quality development outcomes. This employee shares responsibility for the achievement of organizational and departmental outcomes. This means that the employee will continually make on-going contributions to improve the quality and character of built environments found in the Village as well as the processes that are used by staff and development professionals that produce high quality development in the Village. How We Do It The Department identifies and articulates the communitys values, goals, and objectives through the maintenance of the Villages Comprehensive Plan. The goals and objectives of the Plan are achieved through the administration of regulations that govern the review and approval of new development in the Village. The quality and character of the Village is maintained by making certain that private property located in the Village is appropriately used and maintained. Safety in new building environments is promoted through the review of building plans and the inspection and safety certification of buildings under construction. Contributions This Position Makes to the Department The position assures the provision of high quality customer service and the achievement of customer satisfaction for persons developing property within the Village, the members of the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Appeals and Adjustment, the Department Director, and Village staff as measured by timeliness of service, reliability of information and courtesy of service.

About the Job Why the Position Exists The purpose of the position is to assure the provision of high quality customer service that fosters customer satisfaction. Typical Activities that Support Organizational Objectives The position is responsible for achieving customer service objectives of the Administration Program. The position fosters a team oriented work environment for the program and the department. As is true with all positions, this position is responsible for making suggestions for the continuous improvement of department and Village operations. The position manages the Administration Program assuring that customers are extended high quality service. The position is a working management, supervisory, administrative, and technical position. Management duties include the assessment of program needs and the development of work and staffing plans along with annual budgets to meet identified needs. The position annually assesses program successes. Supervisory duties include the assignment of duties, establishing expectations for completion, monthly and annual evaluation of performance and coaching and mentoring of staff. Administrative duties include amending and documenting administrative procedures, as well as, providing direct support to members of the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Appeals and Adjustment, the Department Director, and City staff. Technical duties include the implementation and maintenance of software up-grades in support of department operations. Qualifications The knowledge and skills needed to be successful in this position are typically gained through the attainment of a high school diploma or GED and five years of responsible secretarial and supervisory experience. You must have possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license and have a driving record satisfactory to obtain coverage by the City's insurance carrier.

As a municipal organization, Greenwood Village is an emergency provider of services. Some emergency situations, including weather related emergencies, may necessitate Greenwood Village employees to assist in areas of work which may not be directly related to the employees specific job function, but which will be within the physical capabilities, training, and skills of the employee. What the Employee Can Expect Employees in this position can expect to be challenged. The ability to multi-task while maintaining composure in working with the public and Village staff is important. The employee will be expected to develop mastery and understanding of the various development processes and computer systems that are used by the Village to manage and assure high quality development. The employee can expect to be appropriately trained and supported. The employee can expect to be recognized and compensated for good performance. The standards of the Village and department are high and the employee can expect to be rewarded for the quality of work and contributions to improvements in systems, methods, and outcomes of the department and Village. The employee can expect to be given high quality office equipment including computers and software to conduct the work in an efficient, high quality, and professional manner. The employee can expect a strong team orientation. In the Community Development Department, team members voluntarily agree to sign a team contract that clearly defines behavior expectations of all members of the department.

Immediate Supervisor George Weaver is the Director of Community Development. He has more than 20 years of management and municipal government experience. George thrives on creative problem solving and willing acceptance of change. The traits most important to George for this position include a high energy level, a strong sense of team, a strong customer service orientation, strong supervisory skills and project management skills. George values those that have a strong desire to a make a difference to the community and organization and he appreciates those that demonstrate a positive can-do attitude and enjoy the work that they do.
