Motivations
Motivations Interest in moving to a b-tagging analysis Two main area of possible work:
b-tagging in high pT jets b-tagging for boosted topologies

Easy to understand the importance of the high-pT b-tagging in Susy We are interested in knowing if Susy Stop decays present boosted topologies in the nal state We would like to investigate the following channels
t b+ t t + 0 b t +

introduction
What is a boosted topology?
Consider: t t+0 1 If m m t and m t t m 0 1 large amount of energy is given to the top quark, making it kinematically boosted In the COM Et =
2 2 2 m t m 0 + mt

2m t

In the LAB dependence on P t t + Similar in the b channel

Introduction
Not boosted

Expected nal state There is a possibility of collimated decay products (qqb or bl ) Partial or full merging of the jets into the radius of a single fat jet The angular separation of the decay products is approximately m R 2 pT The use of large cone-size jets is motivated by a R < 1.0

Semi-boosted

Boosted

Introduction

We set up a truth MC study to investigate the kinematics of the decay The goal is to understand if all decays present a boosted topology. If yes in which part of the grid Disclaimer: The study has just started Very preliminary results Investigated only the t b + Possible presence of mistakes

MC samples and Event Selection

t b+ process Samples used:

mc12_8TeV.*.MadGraphPythia_AUET2B_CTEQ6L1_t*_c*_n*_LeptonFilter.merge. NTUP_TRUTH.e2094_p1581

Interested only on the Initial State (before showering) Selection of the events:
Nlep = 1 (e,, ) (mc_status == 3) lep pT > 25 GeV, | lep | < 2.4 Nquarks = 2, matched to W

Avoided to chose the stable leptons (mc_status=1) for consistency with other objects We worked in the hypothesis m = 2m0 1

Issues
Noticed that the pT of the t increases at higher masses I was expecting the other way around. This could be due to the fact that the t are produced more centrally at higher masses A check on the momentum magnitude gives the same result This could have impact on the R distributions since there is correlation

Conclusions and Future Work

We showed the PRELIMINARY results of the truth study on boosted topologies The study doesnt take into account any showering contribution and reconstruction level An unexpected behaviour of the pT distribution as a function of the t mass has been seen. More investigation probably is required Hint for boosted topologies on the diagonal and top right corner of the grid. Future Work The top+LSP topology has already been studied in detail for the direct stop note. Good exercise to repeat though. t + . Little bit more complicated topology Check the b Move to work on NTUP SUSY with more info available. Check the pT of the t.
