The TV Industry is massive and has been around since the late 1920s, in 2009 78 percent of the world's households owned at least one television set, an increase of 5% over 2003. TV can make a lot of money for one reason BBC doesnt advertise other peoples adverts, instead, there is requirement from the Public who live in the UK to be able to watch TV. A TV Licence is required which is approx. 145 for the year at present and if you do not have this for the property that you live in, then this is considered as a criminal offence and will face a penalty. This brings the BBC an income of 26.8 million per year. And these other countries do what BBC does.
