PIONEER - The North Central Eagles came into the 2013-14 season without their 1,000-point gun in Jalen Dancer, and with a much bigger Evergreen Vikings squad invading the Eagles Nest on November 30. With their recently graduated four-year floor leader in civvies as a spectator, the floor general duties fell upon senior Branden Turner. Under Turners first command, the Eagles went from being outmuscled early, to being a major pain to the Vikings in the second half. The Eagles erased a double-digit deficit, but a late rally saved the Vikings. With the game going into overtime, the visitors finally escaped with a 51-46 win. Trailing by double digits in the third period, North Central changed strategies, ramping up their perimeter speed and harassing the Evergreen guards into turnovers. The speed proved to be equally potent on the half court offense of the Eagles as quick passes gave open

views to Turner, Clayton Ferguson and Dylan Hutchison, all of which rained down threes that saw the Evergreen lead dwindle to zero. North Central retook a three-point lead late in the period, but they turned the ball over while trying to kill the clock. The Vikings would use the gaffe to tie the game and send it into overtime, where they would pull away for the eventual win. Ferguson finished with 18 points for North Central, while Turner had 13. Fayette Lady Eagles Use Huge Third Period Run To Demolish Liberty Center
FAYETTE - The numbers dont lie. The Fayette Lady Eagles got off 61 shots against Liberty Center on November 23. One tends to get extra shot opportunities when ones team forces 21 turnovers while allowing only four. Those shots were dropping hard and fast on the Lady Tigers, too fast for them to keep pace. Trailing 31-23 at the half, Liberty Center was greeted by a 14-1 barrage in the third that blew the game open, finally ending in a 64-38 plastering. Kaela Seiler threw down 21 points for the Lady Eagles, while Alexis Fruchey and Taylor Griffiths each had 10 points, and Paige Keefer 8. MONTPELIER - Anyone who has experienced life knows that some days youve got it, and some days you dont. On November 29, the Lady Locos of Montpelier didnt have it, and when they finally did, it went away as quick as it came. The Lady Bulldogs of Swanton pulled into The Railyard and found a host team with fingers in need of a serious defrosting. Swanton went on an 11-2 first period run, then followed it up with a 14-7 second to take a 25-9

halftime lead. Montpelier thawed out with 18 points in the third, but went back into the deep freeze for the fourth in what became a 56-34 NWOAL loss. Hannah Blake led Montpelier with 15 points, while Baylee Hageman added 10 in the paint. From the opening tipoff the Evergreen Vikings started their assault on the visiting Wauseon Indians and did not let up as they ran away with a 61-44 NWOAL victory on November 29. The Vikings fired up two straight threepoint shots to get thing started and built a quick 6-0 advantage. Haley Archibeque matched one of Evergreen buckets to make it an 8-3 game. Evergreen's Anna Machacek made the back end of a two-shot foul as the Vikings lead again was six at 9-3. The Vikings led by at least six points the rest of the opening quarter that included one more three-point shot. That shot came from Eden Eisel as the Vikings went up 12-3. The quarter ended with Evergreen up 10 at 18-8 as Eisel had a put back to end the first eight minutes of play. With six more points from beyond the arc by Kendalyn Noe, the Vikings added quickly to their lead to 26-8. The Indians did claw back to with in 11 to end the first

half but had a hole to get out of if they were to win. Truckor started the second half with a three point shot as the Vikings were in control at 32-18. Noe and Truckor each tallied points for the Vikings as the lead continued to grow to 36-18. Archibeque and Rachel Noe traded threes. With the score 39-21, the Indians went on a bit of a run with threes by Sariah Yackee and Natalie Koenig to close the gap back to 11 at 39-27. But that was as close as the Indians would come as Evergeen's hot shooting continued in the fourth and final quarter. Two more straight threes by Truckor and Eisel open the Vikings lead to 48-34 as the final quarter began. The two teams matched points for the most part the rest of the way as the Vikings ended the night with a 17 point win. The Vikings were led on the court by Kendalyn Noe who finished with 18 points. Natalie Koenig led the Indians with 20 points.
