MANAGER MISSING
The manager of Muthoot Finances Tavarekere branch Ravichandra Shetty went missing on Friday. It may be recalled that there was a failed robbery attempt at the branch on Friday night. According to police, Shetty has not returned home since Friday evening. Police said the watchman of the branch had seen the manager leave around 6 pm. Later in the night, there was an attempt to rob the branch, with five to six masked members trying to break in. But their effort went in vain as the burglar alarm went off.

FAKE GOLD JEWELLERY GANG ARRESTED

A racket of mortgaging fake gold jewellery with finance companies for loans and then disappearing, has been busted by JP Nagar police, who arrested three persons, including two women. According to police, the accused have cheated Muthoot Finance company branches all over the city to the tune of Rs 33 lakh. The culprits have been identified as Latha, 33, the kingpin, Lakshmamma, 37, and Mallikarjun, 33, all from Bommanahalli area.

Bangalore: A 26-year-old habitual burglar died in police custody in Hennur police station on Saturday . Lokesh, a resident of A Narayanapura, was charged with five or six burglaries. After Hennur police arrested him last week, he had told them that he had disposed of the valuables in DharmaLokesh puri in Tamil Nadu. Police, in a bid to recover the valuables, had taken him to Tamil Nadu. But Lokesh suddenly fell ill and his condition turned serious. Bangalore: A BMTC bus going from Jnanbharathi to Kempegowda bus station in Majestic accidentally caught fire. No one was injured. Fire Force officials said the fire was caused due to a short-circuit in the engine.

CHARRED REMAINS

The bus was passing by the university ground and stopped suddenly, when smoke began to billow from it. Some boys, who were playing cricket on the ground, informed the Fire Force, which rushed to douse the fire. The few passengers managed to hop out before the fire spread.

ROWDY ATTACKED

A rowdy was attacked by some unknown persons in front of his house, around 3.30 pm on Sunday in Banashankari police limits. According to police, a four-member gang, including Pitta alias Naga, attacked Valey Seena, who has cases registered against him in Central and Basavanagudi police station limits. Seena is undergoing treatment at a private nursing home.

uments for several of the accused loan applicants. Latha knew a jewellery worker, Amaresh, who could produce fake gold jewellery using brass. She got him to make some fake jewellery . All her associates, under the guise of loan customers, went to these finance company branches and duped the company officials, even while they were checking the gold jewellery . The gang had duped nearly 23 branches.

Bangalore: A 20-year-old youth drove his car over a traffic police cop during a drunken driving check near Windsor bridge on Saturday night. Bangalore: Vijayanagar police arrested two chain snatchers and recovered gold jewe l l e r y worth Rs 8 lakh from them. Police said one of the accused is an MSc graduate, employed with a private mobile company as an executive, while the other is a diploma holder and works as a planning official at a solar company . The police said the accused were involved in 17 cases in Vijayanagar and Basaveshwaranagar police limits. Police have recovered 18 gold chains, weighing 470 gm, from the arrested.
