4013 Grandview Dr. Brea, Ca 92823 September 9th, 2013 Los Angeles Community College District 770 Wilshire Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90017 Dear Sir or Madam: I am writing in response to the online career opportunity posted on Indeed.com. My immediate goal is to work as a lab technician and assistant. I am a college student at Cal State Fullerton and I am looking for additional hands on lab experience. I am a Biochemistry major with both the experience and passion for a learning environment and helping others. (condense to two sentences) During my education at Fullerton College and Cal State Fullerton, I have been privileged to receive an education and lab training fromby highly trained individuals. I have learned and performed many lab techniques, including crystallization and chemical separation in my Organic Chemistry and Cell and Molecular Biology classes. I have taken a variety of science classes including, Quantitative Chemistry and Biochemistry, and I am completing additional coursework in advanced chemistry. I have also completed a course in the Chemistry of Hazardous Materials. From these classes, I further discovered my interest in the field and sought more lab experience opportunities through other positions. Again, can you condense? Can you relate this experience to what they need? Throughout my academic career I have been able to gain enjoyable job experiences outside of the classroom. I have experience working in similar industries such as at Applied Biomedical LLC. Applied Biomedical develops and manufactures HIV rapid diagnostic kits and blood glucose tests for diabetics. While working there, I have assisted Research Associates in the lab and clean room production with various procedures including buffer, formulation, reagent, and antigen preparation and device manufacturing for about two years. Similarly, I led several production runs for device manufacturing and was responsible for maintaining and operating specialized equipment and instruments. Additionally, I have experience working as a Student Lab Assistant at the Fullerton College Biology Stockroom, preparing and maintaining classroom laboratory equipment and materials. After moving into a new facility, I helped better organize and design storage areas to place laboratory equipment. In both positions, I exercised existing skills and abilities I developed in the classroom and obtained several new ones. My enclosed rsum contains additional information about my skills, education, and job experience. I would like to meet with you at your convenience to discuss this position. You can contact me via email at msaadansari@gmail.com or reach me and at 714-273-5955 anytime. I look forward to a great conversation with you to discuss my great fit to this position. Sincerely,

Mohammad Saad Ansari

Additional Comments: Saad, This is the start of a fine job application. While some of your sentences are wordy (in the letter), you have shown in your resume that your experience matches the employers needs. One way to improve your letter would be to highlight some experience that sets you apart from others, say a story about a single day when you did something special or extraordinary at work or in

class. Also, you could specify how your experience fits you for their needs in your letter (its currently implied). Have you worked with students, for example? Your resume could use a little more white space, but it shows that youre a qualified applicant. GRADE: B+
