THE RELEVANCE OF LANGUAGE IN ACCORDANCE TO SPEAKING AND WRITING SKILLS IN NEWSPAPER ORGANIZATION

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

According to the survey, the analysis shows that mainstream of the respondents were personnel working full time in Gujarat Guardian and Times Of India. Personals expressed their concern with an opportunity that for this survey was found to be very helpful and important in terms of advancement. The overall satisfaction of the employees of an organization was moderately satisfied with their location and work frame. Most of the respondents face problems in convincing the English language with the overall percentage of 40% to 60% as being in Gujarat they are more comfortable with Gujarati language. Many of them were with the response that they strongly agree that publishing sector increase the proficiency level of English as they are the people whose newspapers are read by the whole city. More than 60% of the staff has preferred moderately Hindi language at the time of recruitment.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ORGANISATION

A newspaper is a periodical publication containing news regarding current events, informative articles, diverse features, editorials, and advertising. It usually is printed on relatively inexpensive, low-grade paper such as newsprint. By 2007, there were 6,580 daily newspapers in the world selling 395 million copies a day. Newspaper has been an important part in India since the time of our freedom movement as this was the place where the voice of freedom was raised by Bhagat Singh and Mahatma Gandhi. Currently in India publication takes place over 1400 languages/dialects and in fact, India has over 50,000 newspapers or journals belonging to categories like daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly etc. Gujarat Guardian (Voice of the People) is regional new newspaper company, which was launched on July16, 2012. Gujarat Guardian is an addition to the list of growing number of newspapers in the state. The paper was of a great help in the process of purification of the society. Lets hope the number of newspapers and television channels increase as that will give a common man more power to know truth and face reality. So, today on this auspicious occasion, the researcher congratulates everyone there. He would also advice never to hesitate to criticize him even though he has inaugurated the event. He is not agitated even if the newspaper criticized him in the first edition of Gujarat Guardian itself. Thats the beauty of democracy, Times of India (TOI) is an Indian English-language daily newspaper. It has the largest circulation among all English-language newspapers in the world, across all formats weeklies, dailies, monthlies and periodicals and even e-papers. In 2008, the newspaper reported that (with a circulation of over 3.14 million) TOI was the world's largest selling English-language daily, ranking it as the 3rd largest selling newspaper in any language in the world. According to the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) 2012, the Times of India is the most widely read English newspaper in India with a readership of 76.43 lakhs (7.643 million). This ranks the Times of India as the top English daily in India by readership. It is owned and published by Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. which is owned by the Sahu Jain family.

Objectives of the Study:


The objectives of the study are as follows: To find the relevance of language in the newspaper publication house. To find, is there any lack in using the English language in their newspaper articles. The main objective is to know what percentage of employees are using English language.

Scope of the study:


This study may help other people to know the use of English language in the newspaper publication houses. Though, it is not for any particular segment of people so everyone can use it.

RESEARCH METHODLOGY
Research is a planned enquiry that utilizes acceptable scientific methodology to solve problems and create new knowledge that is generally applicable and informational. Scientific methods consist of systematic observation, classification, analysis and interpretation of data on the basis of data collected. Research is a process of collecting, analyzing and interpreting information to answer questions which are either predefined or assumed before the research is conducted. But to qualify as research, the process must have certain characteristics: it must be in a long field where multiple variable are covered, unbiased, systematic, valid and verifiable. The collected data and result should be critical and pin-pointing. Research can be classified from three perspectives: 1. Application of research study 2. Objectives in undertaking the research 3. Inquiry mode employed

Application: In application, there are two categories based on research i.e. pure research and applied research. In our survey, the point of view of application that we have selected is applied research.

Main Objectives: From the point of view of objectives, a research can be classified as descriptive, correlational, explanatory, and exploratory. In the survey, from the point of view of objectives we have selected exploratory objective.

Inquiry Mode: There are mai nly two approaches to answer the researched questions Structured approach & Unstructured approach. In the survey, from the point of view of inquiry mode we have selected Structured Approach.

Sampling Frame: Surat Region

Sampling Size: 60

Time and place: this study has been done in the month of November. This survey was taken in the
Surat region.

Methods of study
1. Primary Method: Data observed or collected directly from first-hand experience. This method has been conducted with a questionnaire.

2. Secondary Method: Published data and the data collected in the past or other parties is called secondary data. People can use these data through books, journals etc.
