St. Thomas University Cancer Research (December 2013 - May 2013) Mentor: Dr. Wim F. A. Steelant, CE, Ph.D.; Dr. Dora Pilar Maul, Ph.D.; Dr. Sverine Van Slambrouck, Ph.D. Project: Prostate/Breast Cancer Research Tasks: Worked with Ardisia crenata to test if it has any anti-cancer activity for prostate and breast cancer. Each treatment was under aseptic conditions. USDA Research (August - December 2012) Mentor: Dr. Paul Pratt, Research Entomologist at USDA - ARS Project: Brazilian Peppertree Tasks: Worked with Perkin-Elmer 2400 CHN Elemental Analyzer to get concentration of carbon in Brazilian Peppertree, and created an irrigation system. USDA Summer Intern (June - July 2012) Mentor: Dr. Paul Pratt, Research Entomologist at USDA - ARS Project: The invasive plant Rhodomyrtus tomentosa and its natural enemies: Carea varipes and Neostauropus alternus.
