Lower Fuel Consumption Small engine carburetors deliver an excessive fuel-to-air-ratio at both low power output and at high power output making effective altitude compensation difcult to achieve. EFI allows the proper air/fuel ratio to be maintained with altitude and other changing air density conditions. Depending on the engine expect a 15% to 30% reduction in fuel usage in both two and four stroke engines when converting from carburetor to EFI. Improved Starting Performance The EFI system can calculate the optimum air/ fuel mixture for starting in all conditions. The pressurized fuel system and fuel injector provide superior fuel atomization at colder temperatures. EFI mitigates the need for the user to make carburetor adjustments that can later adversely affect ight behavior. Improved Engine Reliability and Durability EFI control systems maintain optimum air/ fuel ratios during all phases of operation. This reduces the number of random engine outages and prolongs engine life reducing costly engine maintenance, and signicantly increasing the MTBF/MTBR (Mean-Time Between Failures/ Mean-Time Between Repairs or Replacements).
Maintain Peak Power and Better Fuel Economy Because EFI maintains proper air/fuel ratio under all conditions, peak power can be maintained while also improving fuel economy. Expanded Engine Performance Envelope Since the ECU can automatically adjust the fueling for ambient pressure changes EFI engines can operate effectively at sea-level or in the mountains without having to be re-tuned or adjusted. This function is required to reduce the power lapse of the engine at higher altitudes. Less power lapse means a higher altitude envelope. Engine Data Collection Onboard data logging comes with each ECU. The ECU logging feature is fully user congurable for channels and data rate as well as trigger and overwrite settings. Plug and Play Operation with Avionics STRATUS EFI systems are easily integrated with the Cloud Cap Technology family of Piccolo avionics. In addition, through the open and fully documented API and the CANbus interface, the STRATUS EFI system can be readily integrated with other avionics.
Cloud Cap offers more than EFI we offer everything you need to elevate your hobby-grade engine to a fully integrated purpose built power plant solution.
The Advanced Engine Monitoring (EM) interface continuously monitors engine/fuel use with an intuitive tricolor display via PCC.
The pump control unit is designed for measuring and regulating fuel pressure in conjunction with the miniature fuel accumulator and piston pump systems.
Pump Type B
A lightweight and robust sensor used for sensing the temperature of the cylinder head in small fuel injected engines. It is particularly suited for use in the UAV industry.
ECU Type B
The piston-based design provides a high performance, low leakage pump operating with less than 1 watt average power consumption. Its compact, low weight design allows integration into small UAV platforms. As a worldwide distributor of Currawong EFI components, Cloud Cap is able to support individual customers needs for EFI components and custom integration efforts in addition to providing complete turnkey powertrain solutions.
Provides a complete monitoring and control solution for small fuel injected engines. It can be calibrated to provide optimum performance over a wide range of engines, in a variety of congurations and sizes.
Injector Assembly
A lightweight and compact fuel injector for small fuel injected engines. It is particularly suited for use in the UAV industry and features customizable ow rates.
Manifold Air Temperature Sensor
Lightweight and robust, senses the temperature of the air in the intake manifold of small engines. The sensor is based on the KTY83 silicon resistive element chip and has a typical positive temperature coefcient of resistance of 950 ohms at 20C and 2500 ohms at 175C.
