Goals and Objectives

you will create this giant portfolio to show that you understand the elements of graphic design,
photography, and elements of video.

You are using your portfolios to argue the fact that you have learned about, and are better at, graphic
design, photography, and video elements at the end of the semester than you were at the beginning. What did you learn? How did you become better?

Artists, architects, designers, and photographers have long been using portfolios as a means of
demonstrating their particular skills and abilities as well as showcasing their accomplishments. In recent years, educators have come to reali e the potential of portfolios in the process of student assessment and evaluation.

!or student assessment purposes, a portfolio can be defined as "a purposeful collection of student
performances that e#hibits a student$s effort, progress and achievement over a period of time" %Hibbard et al, &''(, p. &))*.

According to +tiggins %,--&*, a portfolio should tell the story of a student. .hrough the portfolio

processes of collecting, selecting, organi ing and reflecting, an individual is actively involved in constructing the story of her/himself as a student. .he artifacts included in the portfolio demonstrate what that student knows and can do. What you are looking for when creating your portfolio 0ompleteness1 2id you provide evidence of the knowledge and skills targeted in the portfolio assignment? 3uality of evidence1 What is the 4uality of the evidence you included in the portfolio? 5ationale1 2id you ade4uately 6ustify your selected documents as evidence of the targeted knowledge and skills? 7isual design and readability1 2o the colours/font choices/headers/images, etc. contribute to a clear hierarchy of information and support the purpose and theme of the portfolio? 8verall 4uality1 What is the 4uality of the portfolio overall? 2oes it make a coherent statement or argument in relation to the portfolio9s purpose %how does it relate back to the types of portfolios you are asked to incorporate into this final assessment*? How to achieve your objectives create an in2esign document. .he first page is your title page that you will create from scratch. Your portfolio will be split into : different sections in your book and within those sections you will have an additional : sections. .here is no limit to the pages you use but it should be at ;<A+. ,pages in length when all is said and done. <#ample1
