Assignment in I.T. Concepts 1.

Software piracy occurs whenever a software program is installed, downloaded from the Internet or another computer, or copied without a proper license from the software manufacturer. If you purchase a license for a software program, you have the right to install that software on one computer and to make a backup copy for archival purposes. In the workplace, two types of software piracy exist: installing a single purchased copy on multiple computers and making extra copies for employees to take home. These practices are prohibited by law, but should they be? Why or why not? Why might developers object to individuals, or organizations, modifying software packages to meet their needs? What, if anything, can and should developers do to prevent software piracy? For me, these activities in the workplace should not be allowed because it is like benefitting from something you dont really own. The developers will lose money if something like these will happen. Developers should prevent individuals from modifying their software because only them have the capabilities to do it. Any modification needed must be first consulted to the creators of the program. We should respect the copyright of the developers of the software. Developers can prevent software piracy by making a software feature that means that the software can only be used in a single computer in order to prevent replications of the program. This way, the software cannot be redistributed without the developers knowledge. Another can be a feature that can track the software about its uploads and downloads to and from the Web.

2. Some application packages come with programming languages (sometimes called macro languages) that can be used to write programs within the application. For example, Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet program, and Microsoft Word, a word processing program, include Visual Basic. Have students visit a software vendor and find an application package that contains a programming language. What is the name of the application? What is the name of the associated programming language? For what purpose is the language used? If possible, students should ask to see a demonstration of the programming language. Does it appear difficult to use? Why or why not? How does the programming language enhance the application? Would the inclusion of a programming language in the application package be a significant factor in their decision whether or not to purchase the package? Why or why not? The application that I found is Google Chrome. Its programming language is DART. The language is a counterpart of the JavaScript. DART aims to be more easily tooled for large-scale projects and provide more security feature. The language is not that difficult to use.

It is because it is like the JavaScript and other programming languages like C++ and others. Familiarity with aforementioned languages provide ease for use of DART It enhances the browser by speeding up its process by up to 21% more than JavaScript does. The addition of this language will be a factor in purchasing it. It is because customers wanted browsers that will be faster than what they have. If they had a knowledge about this, they may prefer Google Chrome than others.

3. Three desirable characteristics of information systems are availability, scalability, and interoperability. Which, if any, characteristic is most valuable? Why? For me, none of them is more valuable than the other. It is because all information systems must have these three components in order to benefit all users. These three are of equal importance and nothing exceeds another. These characteristics must be present in order for the information system to be efficient.

4. To review careers in the computer industry, identify the areas in which you are most interested. What makes these areas attractive? What features do the areas have in common? What personal, or academic, qualifications do you think you have that might make each area a suitable career path? Just like in computer software field that needs knowledge in software development in order to produce a good program, and in education in order to only teach the right things. For me, I am qualified in these fields because I have the intellect to perform the activities needed for the job. Another is perseverance towards work.
