The most significant event that shaped America into the nation that it is today is the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War and the instatement of the Constitution was a process which proved to be liberating for the people of The United States and with time its influence became global. Some of the Founding Fathers helped to develop political and governmental principles which through the test of time have proven to be good and accurate (American People pg. 203). The Revolutionary War was the start of a long, on-going process of obtaining and maintaining life, liberty, and property for all people (Changing Interpretations pg. 173). It was the beginning of liberty and freedom for every individual. The Revolutionary War and the drafting of the Constitution was the most influential event that has shaped America into the nation that it is today. The Revolutionary War and the instatement of the Constitution was a process which proved to be liberating for the people of the United States and with time its influence became global. Previous to the war, colonists were being oppressed and suppressed by their British imperials (American People pg. 165). The colonists were seen and treated as British Subjects which also meant British policy was invoked upon the colonists. Mistreatment, unreasonable taxes and loss of rights became reasons for what was at first unexpected defiance, but later grew into war and eventual independence. This event was obviously revolutionary for the colonists and Americans, but it was also a global statement of freedom and liberty which has echoed even into our modern day. John Adams said it best in a letter to his wife where he stated, Yesterday the greatest Question was decided, which was ever debated in America, and a greater perhaps, never was or will be decided among men. A Resolution was passed without one dissenting Colony, that these Colonies are, and of right ought to be free and independent States(Changing Interpretations pg. 153). This statement has proved to be true. Founding Fathers cooperated and worked in connection to develop political and governmental principles which through the test of time have proven to be sound and accurate. The first debates pertaining to the government were proposed by Edmund Randolph, who favored a powerful national government, and William Paterson, who favored the retention of the Articles of Confederation (American People pg. 202). Eventually it was decided that a new government would need to be established. The development of the Constitution was not an overnight ordeal. It was a long process with input given from many different people. The government and Constitution decided upon has endured the test of time thus proving the soundness of the principles which were implemented. The nation that America is today is still very much influenced and motivated by these very fundamental principles which were decided upon over 200 years ago. The Revolutionary War was the start of a long, on-going process of obtaining and maintaining life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all people (American People pg. 204).

Human rights before this time were subject to royalty and/or elites. Even in America during this time different groups, based on color, class and even beliefs were segregated against (American People pg. 231). However, the Revolutionary War and development of the Constitution were the beginning of equal, human rights. This concept was extremely revolutionary not only for the early settlers of America, but for every individual across the globe. The early Americans believed that the Constitution needed to ensure life, liberty, and property (Changing Interpretations pg. 173). These rights were not equally promised in the early days of the Constitution, but that very idea at this time was unheard of and almost inconceivable. What it did though, was establish a base for future development and further societal progression. We see today that through the history of the United States these rights have been granted to all and have very much played an irreplaceable role in our standard of living. The principles which govern the United States were put together by inspired Founding Fathers whose principles has endured the test of time and proven sound and good (American People pg. 203). Those same fundamental principles led to what was the start of a long, on-going process of obtaining and maintaining life, liberty, and property for all people (Changing Interpretations pg. 173). These rights were not always honored at the beginning of the country and sometimes arent honored even today, but it provided a solid base upon which to improve and progress. The Revolutionary War and instatement of the Constitution was the most influential and significant event that has shaped America into the nation that it is today.
